Love your work and great job on finding the short! Quick question, which microscope camera are you using, and which thermal imaging cam are you using also? Much appreciated.
Great job! Having correct equipment in diagnosing board really make job easier. May i ask.. what specific brand and model of thermal camera you are using??
Hi I am from India. I have Macbook pro 16' 2019 i9 model. Its just not booting up. Showed to local repair guys but they said they can't fix it as they never repaired this new logic board and apple service said it needs to be replaced. I don't have apple care and also I need the data on it. Please can you help me ?
This is random, but do you know what the voltage threshold is for the output of a current sense element on a MacBook Pro? I know typically a voltage sense output should be low but I have one that outputs up to .43v. I don’t have a reference to go off of to know if this is indicative of a short or a high draw on my 3v3 circuit.
I wonder if other capacitors in parallel to that one that popped aren't gonna pop too in a near future. Wouldn't be wise to replace a bunch of them? Longevity wise.
Nope. They will be fine. It usually is a single failure. I've actually never seen 2 ceramics parallel to each other fail without the presence of liquid. Usually its just a small small crack from manufacturing defect that gets bigger or is made bigger from a drop or shock exposure or something along those lines.
It's a cheap 1080p one that someone actually sent to me a few years back. It works well, but I have no clue on the model/brand of it. I'd recommend this one -- www.microscope.com/shop/tms-hdmi-1080pu-hdmi-1080pu-2-0mp-pc-mac-60-fps-digital-microscope-camera-111?category=21#attr=
One teeny tiny capacitor R&R, fixed. And that capacitor is about the amount/level of trust I have in The Apple Store or Repair Team. Enjoyed 👍👍
Mac: blows one cap
Apple: you might as well just get a new one
See how fast he got that board out ! Blink of an eye ! I love it !!!! Tim is the best !!!

Tim, you are a genie - and genius. Keep it up!
Nice one! 👍
What thermal camera do you use? Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
why do you use acetone instead of 99% alcohol?
Works better for dissolving flux.
Great job! Best regards from Chile!
Another good job Tim. Shame on you Apple, shame
👍👍
