Although the term "dance" may not be so appropriate since it is a type of performance that began to gain popularity as an appetizer, between courses at banquets in the Middle Ages, it is a term that is popularly already more than accepted. It also contributed to its popularity having been part of the Corpus Christi festivities and other ecclesiastical processions, an accompaniment that contributed to a more ceremonious and spectacular appearance. With the passage of time, the devils or devils began to lead these groups, announcing their arrival, creating uproar with disturbances of all kinds, loud and noisy, separating the present audience and thus opening the procession.
