    I run the knock offs since may 2020 and they are still working great 👍🏻

    The knockoffs are a third of the price of the Proline. I believe there is good value even though the knockoffs wear faster. Buy 3 sets

      The sidewalls on the knock off tear easy. Although I'll buy again cause they are very grippy

      @@ExocagedRC thats why they grip sooo good its a wayyy softer compound which equals crap for longevity but great for grip. its the same way for most all race tires. they dont last cause they wear fast but grip is amazing

    Love my Chyrax tires. I don't have that kind of wear you have from 12 runs you got in that one run thou. Might be the wood cutting them. Anyhow at 1/3 the price nearly I'll take the Chyrax. I have the swamper knock offs too. Amazing tires for $10. If I had only one rig I might suffer with less traction and the harder proline tire thou.

      I find mine are lasting fine too. A small amount of wear but still going strong after a couple of years of semi frequent use.
      There was a time when Chinese crawler tyres were way too firm just like the ones that come included with vehicles but they are super soft nowadays.

  • @PresidentCamacho2024

    for me,. wear and tear doesn't really matter.
    for normal use i don't strain them enough to wear them out
    and for competition use,. if i win,. and have to throw them away afterwards, it was totally worth it :D

    • @JViello
      @JViello 5 років тому +1

      Agreed, and FWIW my set of knock offs only showed that kind of wear when I got hung up on a rock face and had to spin them lime crazy for 20-30 seconds inching my way up a slick rock face...which they eventually did overcome where the stock Gen8 tires would not.
      On my rig, under normal use that kind of feathered wear doesn't happen. They also softened up considerably once broken in.

  • @JViello
    @JViello 5 років тому +2

    Having fun surfing around for tire test vids...nice work! I have a set of the knock offs, and they only seem to wear like that when they get spun for a distance or time like the vid. Mine have worked fine for several comps etc and only showed that wear when I got hung up on a rock face and spun them like crazy to get off. We have several trucks including a Gen8. There is no more arguing whether RedCat makes a good truck. Only the most hardcore haters have anything bad to say. LOL The Gen7 paved the way though.

    Great test. Ive been playing with the Chinese tyres too, a set of boggers that i cut straight away and a set of military truck tyres that i couldnt find elsewhere simply because they look the part on my 'Mog. Wasn't expecting much but extremely impressed with them. I'm getting that wear too but not too worrried about it, just pick the dags off, can see them wearing down enough to affect the performance any time soon. Also have a set of the Hyrax knock offs but havnt used them yet. Good to know they work. Looking forward to the wet test. Great work!

  • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
    @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 6 років тому +8

    That was an excellent test!! Yes, faster wearing.... But if I was actually Comp Crawling, I'd GO with the Austars. They actually seemed to grip better!
    Also, that Redcat Gen 7 is a highly misunderstood and underrated vehicle!!! And almost 1/3 of the cost of the overrated TRX-4....

    • @SnarkyRC
      @SnarkyRC 6 років тому +1

      PoorManRC Yeah the TRX-4 is very overhyped. I had one for about a week and I didn't like it. I run a SCX10II and a MST CMX and they rock in terms of crawling.

      No KIDDING!! Now, with the big Desert Racing Truck, it seems like TRAXX-ASS is once again Hell Bent to jack up prices through the entire Hobby....
      They did it 15 years ago, with the Slash. It wouldn't be so bad, if all those Traxxas Fan-Boys didn't jizz all over themselves, rushing to pay OVER LIST for the first ones to come out!!
      That Mad Truck AND the TRX-4. It's INSANE how much these people will pay....

    • @SnarkyRC
      @SnarkyRC 6 років тому +1

      Yeah I refer to them as Trashxxas half the time. That desert truck is way overpriced. I've had a Slash and a Stampede but, I sold them and got Arrma vehicles. They make better quality vehicles at better prices.

    • @year1camaro
      @year1camaro 6 років тому +5

      I wouldn't call em fanboys. You don't seem to realize most traxxas owners are new to RC. Trust me they known what there doing. And I say good for them. Cause wether you like traxxas or not our hobby wouldn't be where it is today if it where not for them.

      it was pretty humiliating for them,..

  • @KnightenDaise
    @KnightenDaise 4 роки тому

    The knockoffs are a much softer compound. They'll stick better but wear a ton faster. I would only recommend them for hardcore competition use where you're invested enough to buy a buttload of tires you don't mind throwing away after a couple of runs.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому +2

      yeah the austar tires are wearing fast, I still have to go record the rocks part. I think for the average guy who just runs in the yard or out and about will be fine with the cheaper tires, if you're a hard core comp guy, they will not last.

    • @CoroaEntertainment
      @CoroaEntertainment 3 роки тому

      @@ExocagedRC Well, from what I have seen over the years, many hard core comp guys don't care if their tires wear out fast. What they want is tire that is well suited for the course they are running... and if that calls for a softer/grippier tire that will wear out faster, they don't mind, as long as it gives then the advantage they need to win.

    the redcat is really that much better!? Also can you talk about Gen8 vs Gen7 major differences? Do you think the reason for the much better ramp performance in this video is because of the motor in the redcat vs trx4? New to your channel and to serious RC, so I apologize if you've already covered this in another video. Just ordered the TRX-4 for some awesome offroading fun! WHich types of scenarios would you say the redcat kills the trx4 in most often if any? Thank you! I'll be getting the redcat later on, but your content is great! thank you!

    your opinion what are the best tires for a trx4 bronco for use as trail truck?

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 років тому

      For a trail truck I’m sure the stock tires are fine. But if you really want a different tire consider the proline Hyrax and a wheel of your choice. If you want I can get your some eBay links to some cheap aluminum wheels.

      true but some compounds are stickier than others, some do better dry vs wet.

    I am currently running Proline Hyrax tires on my scx10 and I am not impressed with their performance on the wood obstacles on my local hobby shops crawler coarse.

      I have these hyrax, Rockbeast, KLR Golds and the Deepwoods tires to start testing soon.

      Wish I could but I have to get out to the Barbarian Scaleplex to start setting up for our Winter Series Finale, lots to do there along with recording more of these youtube videos. I will be at the USTE for all 3 days at the Jax RC Recycling booth with Sean, I'll be bringing a couple test jigs so you can test your servos and tire foams.
