There was no armed guards on the camp that is a lie, one person was told he was lucky he was not shot when he absconded from camp and ran onto a runway where a C17 was taking off, The rat problem was made worse in the camp due to the amount of food items stored in their tents. The small access gate was not there 2 years ago and is a recent addition as the medical/ mental health tent was moved outside (manned 24 hours a day) and access to the children school was via this new gate. They have been given every opportunity to leave the island via Boats and by plane like the others before them but this lot decided to stay on the island of their own free will. All but 8 of them have failed the asylum process twice and their appeals, when they failed they decided to mass self harm because of this, some had to be flown off the island for medical care ( medivac flight $400,000 a time). When the UN & Red Cross came to visit, these people where instructed by legal teams not to be seen as having fun and enjoying themselves and this started the protests, Volley ball courts were taken down, sport events cancelled, hunger strikes started, they even forced young children to go on hunger strike, kept boxes of captured rats in their tents and released them when the inspectors or legal staff entered for shock value. No mention on the serious assault on staff members, sexual assault on minors and female camp mates no mention of Arson.2 charter flights, one from Diego Garcia and one from Rwanda were organised to take them all to the UK, now after a short period of time, 50% of them want to go back to the island!!!!!!!. As usual shitty reporting and nothing backed up.
