Great video euan, i would either go axle hunting and modify it, or get some bearings that fit the outer diameter, and make some more sleeves like you did for the front.

You got a good manner about you feller, I’d go so far as to say easily my favourite bike related subscription. Looking forward to seeing this bike when your done with it mate👍👍
Just love watching the progress. Had a similar issue with the wheels on my own XJR. It is registered here in NZ as 2004 which I ordered Galespeed wheels for, turns out it is actually a 1999 which have different spindle and disc sizes. In fact that may help you, front is 17mm rear is 20mm, pretty sure the overall lengths did not change through the various models. Also had the same issue when looking to change the bearings, cannot be done. In the end Galespeed sent the correct disc carriers for my model, I just paid the postage, excellent customer service. As already mention be careful regarding the discs, offset maybe different as well as the bolt pcd.
If a Ducati axle is long enough to pass through both sides of the XJR swinging arm and have enough left over for axle nuts, why not use a Ducati axle and sleeve the XJR components required to fit the wheel, adjuster blocks, disc caliper carrier and make any required spacers for either side, The Ducati sprocket carrier/shock absorber also has a bearing in it and will obviously fit a Ducati axle. Ducati axle lengths do vary by model , eg Monster 900 ie, Monster 1000, S4, ST2, ST4, do not ask me how I know.
