Good stuff! I just bought one of these on prime day since my other mount got destroyed during the Glen Helen 10 Hour race. I never even thought about the "tripod mode"!
Nice review doood! 👍 I've had a Gripper for a while, and agree.. They're insanely versatile! [And apparently that's the reason why they cost as much as they do] They're a buy-once-cry-once sorta' thing, and IMO, definitely worth it. My only gripe.. They don't secure well to thin-ish objects.. *I tried to clip mine to one of my helmets' visors - Nope. *I tried to clip mine to the rear of my Tusk rack - Nope. *I tried to clip mine to the top of a windscreen - Nope. Anything less than say @ 1/2" thick, they'll just rock/wobble. [The jaw has a limited amount of contact area [the rubber teeth]] I already have multiple chin mounts [fixed and removeable] so figured it'd work as either a back-up, or, for mounting to random things. In Both cases - Yes. [For the most part] Would I recommend them? Absolutely! 🤘 Sam -
Just bought it today on Amazon! Bought it for all of the reasons you mentioned. Glad it worked out for you and I love the channel. I’m 41 and also a dork and Love motocross. Lol.
That looks great!!! Have you tried to mount it to your visor & with that additional arm & lower the GoPro just above your field of vision? It looks like that might be a better mounting point while riding & puts the camera in a position closer to your field of vision letting us see from your perspective. Also it somewhat looks like a larger chip clip. Does the plastic seem to be fiber reenforced? If not be careful if it falls. Anytime I drop a chip clip the spring is so powerful & the short 3 foot drop always causes them to shatter into 3 pieces. So have you tested it for just a simple 3 foot drop test to see if it is robustly made? Love your videos, you make them look effortless so I know you spend a lot on time editing!!!! Thanks & keep up your great videos!!!!!!
It’s a cool idea. I use the Proshot mount. Uses strong Velcro. But it’s not as versatile as this if you need to use it elsewhere. I’d give it a shot!! Nice review
I use the Dango with my Nolan N100-5 which has a chin curtain. I simply cut a slit into the curtain on the right side where I use the clamp and it works fine. No bunvhing of the curtain when I did that.
I have one of these and I didn't know the mount rotated. I don't use it on my helmet only because it limits my range of movement as I have a kinda short neck. It is a great mount but I still prefer my ProShot mounts.
The chin skirt issue isn’t a deal breaker. I just pop the chin skirt off my Krios Pro when I use the Dango and honestly end up leaving my chin skirt out during most of the warm months anyway.
@@DorkintheRoad definitely is, you can just pop it out and easily snap it back in without hurting anything. You mentioned a Krios, not Krios Pro so not sure if you meant the pro because I can’t speak for the regular Krios…just in case lol.
I'm going to have to look into this, I have the strap mount for the chin but I'm using a MX helmet atm....and getting an adventure helmet so I don't think my strap mount will work with a visor.
Hey Mr. Dork. Just ordered from your link. Thanks for the review! Only question I have is how hard are the teeth that grip? Will they scratch up my shoei hornet x2 matte black helmet? Thanks!
@@DorkintheRoad I order it anyway. You’re right. Expensive but great mount. I am sure you saved me money in the long run! Used it for the first time yesterday, and it was excellent. My first use I didn’t have it mounted all the way up on my helmet so it hung a little low when I put it on. I started riding and when I looked over my shoulder I knocked the mount off my helmet with my chin. The safety lanyard attached to my backpack saved it from falling off on the road. After that, no problems once I figured out how to best mount it.
Mind blown.... I’ve had mine for months and had no idea I could rotate it lol I should’ve probably paid more attention to the packaging.... I agree with the chin skirt issue, I use mine on my Klim Krios helmet, but I do have to unsnap the chin skirt, and when I have my badlands pro jacket on, it does interfere with range of motion as you said. But I still agree it’s a great mount
Doesn't The Magpie use one? I love the idea, and thought about getting one, but my helmet has a chin skirt. Are you gonna set up lil Dork with her own gopro?
It's been a year since the video. How is this holding up? I just got an action camera and I'm looking for different ways to mount and not stick to my helmet
@@DorkintheRoad did you replace it? Or what are you using now instead? How would you rate it now, a year later, compare to any other amount you’ve encountered?
all rant, no shots, you could have shown the real shots taken from helmet, branch or wherever you stick that up! that would be more clear whether this is really helpful or not!

Great Review Ben, thank you for the honest review. Just ordered one.
Love it. Thanks for all the great information.
Great review! Thank you for going over all the features. This is the mount I have been running for 4 years now!
Good stuff.
Been very happy with mine for the past year.
You have very thoroughly tested yours!

DJI makes one of these now (and it's only $19) 👌
Just got mine and it's well built and works perfectly.
Little Dork....love it. Brilliant review, your intonation and tone make you really listenable to, great job!
Honest & informative as always.
Run the lanyard thru the chin strap on the helmet.

That's funny, i just bought one of these myself.
Works great and i like the little lanyard, but so far it hasnt even slipped.
Happy to hear you like it as much as I did
I’ve been using this mount for years and would recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for the feedback!
This would ba a great set up for some dual vlogs with someone that doesn't own a GoPro

I like my Dango mount. It's great if you're moving the GoPro from helmet to helmet. I'm using a Wannabes mount currently that I really like.
