  • The most state-of-the-art car ever! Don't know what building is in the background but it's pretty cool.

I bought a 1989 Grand Marquis LS 50th Anniversary Edition with 67,000.0 miles in excellent shape last January of 2022. Great car !

1979 to 1991 were the best years for the Grand Marquis. The new Panther platform right-sized the previous behemoth.

From ATandT to the C A T was quite a stretch for the versatile Cliff Robertson.

@MattTheSaiyan I believe the day may come when big car styling of the 70s will become more respected, just as people today admire the heavily ornamented big cars of the 50s.
Problem with 70s cars is people always prejudge them to be old "clunkers", because that's the only condition you normally see them in. But a big 70s luxury car that's been restored to pristine condition could be a very impressive vehicle - I can't say I've ever seen one in nice shape. Their day is coming.

The '80s really were the best years for large boxy sedans. The behemoths from the '70s were way too big until GM and Ford downsized them. The GM B- and C-bodies from '77 to '93 and the Ford Panthers from '79 to '91 were just right. They will always be the cars my dreams are made of.

TRUMP 2020 You can buy a good used 2011 Grand Marquis; it was basically the '79 model under the skin. There are plenty of 'em out there; just be prepared to look real hard. And if you find one that checks out fine, grab it quick!

I think it was around this time that Robertson was blacklisted in Hollywood because of the Columbia Pictures scandal.

Compare it to the ride of the 78 and you will notice the difference. Downsizing sucked!

lum otaku You think that was bad? That Marquis (Grand Marquis beginning in '83) would last more than three decades, all the way until 2011!

Awful compared to the 1975-78 which looked much more regal.
