My grade 8 teacher was Chester Snyder and even though I am in my eighties now , I still remember him as an amazing teacher . Thanks for bringing back those great memories . I visited him many years later when he was in an old age home and said “ you probably don’t remember me “ but his immediate response back was…”you’re the last of the illustrious McKone boys!”
Good topic, I was in a Catholic school, and I got to Canada on a Thursday. went to school on Monday and got the strap on Wednesday. Yet, Mother Anita, another nun, got me on the right path.
Times were a little different then Joe. No one had the proper tools to deal with difficult kids etc. Thankfully society has “pulled up their socks” a little and kids no longer have to deal with the strap, ear pulling etc. aaah the memories. 😊
What school memories this podcast rekindled. I think I speak for most parents ‘though…when I say we wish there were opportunities for “do overs”, during child rearing and adolescent school years! 🤷♀️

Glad this rekindled some memories for you. I agree there should have been some do-overs in the way that teachers dealt with students at that time, but that’s really the reason for highlighting this episode. It’s a teachable moment. ❤
