Two remarkable voices singing some of the greatest music of their time. I'm a big fan of Laine's husband John Dankworth as well. Timeless talents making timeless music.

Sassy, I saw both of these ladies in concert and I can tell you, they were even more amazing. They had God given gifts that they shared. I am up there in age, but, I can't think of anyone who comes near their artistry. I would add Ella and Aretha in their category, as you can see by my address. Thank you so much for sharing.
I never knew they sang together! I am a superfan of both, must have 150 albums between them all told--the greatest American singer and her virtuoso British counterpart❤❤
My goodness, THANk YOU for uploading this for us. You are wonderful for being so generous. This is a new favourite for me now. They both sound sublime and compliment each other so well. I was lucky enough to see Dame Cleo Laine perform at The Leicester Square Theatre and The Barbican in London ten or so years ago and she was STILL incredible, hadn’t lost any vocal power. They are both musical geniuses with exquisite instruments.
WOW Sarah Vaughan , the Devine One is my all time favorite singer ,( Misty, Nearness of You) except Ella Fitzgerald is also my favorite standards singer! I don't think I've heard of Cleo Laine? She's fabulous
1974 - Live at Carnegie Hall! It’s on UA-cam. She’ll blow you away. As deep as her contralto is, she has the highest recorded voice in history. The note is on that album. I’ve got 70 of her CDs and albums. Met her back in the late 80s in Los Angeles. Phenomenal vocalist and actress. Tony Award nominee for “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” and a beautiful Julie in the 1971 “Showboat” in London.
@@CharlieChilders-wm9gb who are you talking about? Cleo? She was married to Composer and saxophone player (amongst other instruments) John Dankworth since 1958 until he passed away in 2010. Sarah Vaughan was married three times: to George Treadwell (1946-1958), to Clyde Atkins (1958-1961), and to Waymon Reed (1978-1981).
@@kevinhebner6773 thanks very much, I will look up that film too. I can imagine Cleo would be phenomenal as Julie singing Can't Help lovin that man. How really cool to get to meet her.
@@kevinhebner6773 my mistake on Cleo. Many years ago Cleo appeared in a special with the Boston Pops for Public Television channel and if my memory serves me right, John Williams was the conductor. The announcer mentioned that these two are married. This is where I got my information. I thought how wonderful that this singer and famous conductor/writer/arranger and husband were married together!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this, oh my goodness! Never knew they sang together, wonderfully joyful. ♡♡♡
Sublime perfection, class, style, real artistry. Nobody can do this anymore.
This is a rare gift from The Most High…where will you ever see the like of this ever again…HOLY SMOKES!
I heard of Sarah Vaughan forever, but Miss Cleo Laine is a new one for me and her voice is absolutely beautiful
Amazing to think that Cleo is still with us, despite being just 3 years younger than Sarah.
Sarah died in her first sixties... a lungo cancer (and She sang until the end ❤)
@@fuletiopia Yes, a week after her 66th birthday. Far, far too soon.

❤Incredible have all their recordings never seen this wonderful match up of two of the greatest ever
They are both exquisite - and what fun to have them together. The medley itself is very strange. But, who cares, when it's these two voices!
This is wonderful! Thank you for posting these women. You will never fine the young people of today doing this.
Gorgeous! What more can you say? Giants of music.

I’ve got most of SV’s albums and a few of CL.
It’s a great video to see.
SV blows my mind.
My golly, I never thought I would see these two amazing lady singers together. Thank you for this!
Even though the colour palette is pink, this is pure GOLD! Two legends effortlessly bantering and blending together . . . I miss the great vocalists.
love this.....Cleo & Sassy
That is the exact definition of "sublime"🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
LEGENDS!!!!!
I treasure this clip. Thanks for posting!
This made my day ❤️
I love Dame Cleo's speaking voice ❤️
What a treat, thanks!!
My father who was a blind syncopated jazz pianist used to play piano for Cleo in the early days of her career.
This is why I love UA-cam ❤❤ I am always finding gems like this🥹💐🖤🌅🔆🤩
This is beautiful!!
