Fernando Mendoza I've liked Cody as a fighter for a while and it's good to see him not become another McGregor. That said, save for his last fight, Conor is very humble in victory and defeat too.
When you can fight, and show compassion/have heart, that is someone I will follow. I have many fighters I like and support, Cody is one of those new ones after seeing that he can perform AND make lives other than his own brighter. Awesome stuff man.
MayTheyAcheOfficial That's a good point. Some other fighters on the other hand are only interested in bragging about their millions, refusing to give dominant champions their rematch and shitting on other fighters. Cody won't let fame get to his head. I like this quality about Amanda Nunes too!
MayTheyAcheOfficial Well said man. Those are characteristics of a humbled good hearted individual. He could have easily took the cocky route after all that trash talk prior, but instead he shines the light on someone who inspires him and is a champion in his own right. Hats off man.
SB Yeah for real he earned some respect tonight most definitely. I was super disappointed Cruz lost, but Cody sticking to his word about the rematch takes some balls. If he beats Cruz again I'd say he's a worthy champ. He definitely showed some real talent tonight though. Cardio was insane, movement and timing were incredible, he was on point.
most of the highlights Ive seen of Cody did not resemble the type interview seen here. Respect. Your support of that youngster who fought the toughest fight is admirable and inspiring...a tremendous show of compassion and class. I thank you for that very much. Respect.
MMA House No, you want it. and no one cares because Cruz would have been the only Bantamweight champion in the UFC if it wasn't for injury, he deserves it. TJ would be a great fight but either way Dom is getting his belt back
myPAINisSELFchosen85 completely agree I thought Cody was going to be outclassed by a more experienced opponent and it looked like the complete opposite
I'm curious how the fight would go if Dominick fought as passively and only relied on the counter attack. It seems like Cody had the perfect plan to counter Dominick's style. (Let him come to you and counter with fast+accurate strikes) The onus is on the challenger to be aggressive since the judges usually give a stalemate round to the Champ, so Cody took advantage of Dominick's aggression.
Cody giving that belt away to your friend was the most awesome amazing act I have ever seen!! Great job you deserve the win. That's a true champion right there.
I'm seeing a different side to Cody. Before I thought he was really just this knock out trash talking brute, but he is actually a good person and a pretty technical fighter. His story is pretty touching with his past and with the kid and all.
Tunti Turpaan I don't think it'll happen though. I like cody but there's a chance matchup wise that dillishaw could work cody. TJ is a high pedigree wrestler whereas I question cody. I definitely think that's an extremely tougher matchup for him and he's smart to take Cruz first
+JuanTurks27 people said the same thing about Cruz. Cody is the real deal and people will now realise. 32-1 golden glove champion in amateur boxing. As well as being scouted for NCAA div 1 wrestling as a teen. Cody will light TJ up. Tj is easier to hit than Cruz. He's also slower. Except Cody will knock TJ out as he also exchanges more than cruz.
It is unfair to TJ if he doesn't get the title shot because the Cruz vs. TJ fight was closer than the Cruz vs. Cody fight and TJ didn't get a rematch. On top of that TJ beat 2 number 2 ranked guys.
Kobe mac I am also impressed how he's a humble champ. I didn't really like him until now. I was disappointed when Cruz lost, but do agree with the decision.
TenSilver most of the time u go to war with someone like they did afterwards theres nothing but respect...that is unless your names John jones when he beat DC
+Craig Miller Haters like you love the term 'bandwagon' don't you? It sucks that your fighter lost but you don't have to be salty about it. Cruz was classy about it, how about you try the same.
He didn't really. Everyone trash talks before a fight, it's just that bandwagoners are turning on him right now, same way they did when Conor tapped out. Dom is still one of the greats and he can turn things around still.
Run GGG Run na imo Dom didn't think Cody was that ELITE(I didn't either) but one thing is Dom didn't get slept!! I know Cruz will be back for a vengeance! But the fight to make is Garbrandt v Dillashaw
Remmy Kauffer dunno if that fight will happen again though. I mean sure Cody could KO him in a rematch if Cruz comes out desperate to win back the belt but I think Cruz is the smarter guy, honestly. I think Cruz would have a solid game plan for a rematch
Qwertyuiop It would be hard for Cruz... at some point Cruz was just staying there not throwing anything because he knew Cody figured him out. Then when he try to land Cody saw all his puncher from a mile... it's like in freaking cartoons when someone understand how his adversary is doing his techniques.
I definitely love Cruz and didn't expect him to be appear so slow ( or Cody that much faster) and the fight to go that way but Cruz should fight somebody like Linker or Dodson before he fights for the title again. Fight another power puncher and see if he can get back to form and prove he can stay healthy for fights. Cruz is tough as granite and has the heart of a champ so I've no doubt he can come back
the guy fought a brilliant fight. he was incredibly patient, picked his shots well, and out countered the best counter punch striker in MMA right now. one of the best performances in recent memory.
Cody had the perfect gameplan. Didn't chase Dom around, made Dom have to come to him, and then countered him with superior speed and power. That simple. Cruz really expected Cody to come at him swinging. I had it as a toss up (I wanted Cody to win) depending on what Garbrandt's gameplan was. If he tried to bulldoze him like the others, he was (probably) gonna get beat. #AndNew
Benny Lagoons uhhhhhh Renan Barão hadn't lost in 32 fights over a span of 9 years. when he was champ he was ranked 3rd in pound for pound best fighter. tj beat him twice handily. tj earned that belt and will most def put up a good fight against cody. I'm pumped!
Cody is a breath of fresh air for MMA fans. Solid and consistent performances coupled with solid life outside the octagon. Will definitely help the MMA keep growing.
I still think a fight between Cruz and McGregor would be interesting. I'm curious to see how they deal with each other's styles. Obviously McGregor would most likely win, but it would still be cool
Cruz can't fight going forward. He's a genius at defensive fighting and making people look bad but its a fight which is about damage. Amazing how Cody's simple game plan made Cruz look like a full on noob tbh
Tim Kruse he could of finish dom 3x's but instead pointed at him and laughed and mocked him instead cause clowning & embarrising dom like he did was worse than finishing dom.
I have so much more respect for Cody after his performance tonight and this interview. Most fighters would run from a rematch but offering it to cruz then defending against TJ is a class move.
Nah. Cody has said that he wants to be an active champion. Although who knows. For the right amount of money I'm sure he'd sideline himself for the winner.
If he got ko'd ?? i understand cody didn't put him to sleep with a single punch but come on he seriously dropped hi. To the canvas like 6 time, 3 times in one round. He wanted those 5 rounds.
What I'm saying is the only reason it went to a decision is because Cody didn't jump on him. Every time Dom hit the ground Cody just pointed at him. In other words Dom didn't earn that decision it was given to him by Cody .
This is a completely different guy than I saw a week ago. I actually am starting to really respect him not just as a fighter but as a person. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon but I'm impressed by the composure and the class to say Dominick is a warrior and deserves a rematch.
I rooted for Cruz but just a reminder : all that incomprehensible hate (from many) for Cody before his win... for what ? his tatoos, his supposed douchiness.... Well : Cody is... just a normal guy. Great fight.
He beat Cruz at his own game, and almost knocked him out in the 4th. I was pulling for Cody, but honestly didn't think he was capable of that kind of technicality. Great work
Luis L not really, McGregor trained strictly cardio and striking where Cody was well trained in stick and move much like Dom's style and Cody didn't come forward as much he chilled and picked his shots
87willus yeah man, that what I mean. He was laid back, picked his shots just like McGregor has in his last two fights against Diaz and Alvarez. Very similar style.
Cody really is a good guy and did a great job. I knew he had a good chance but didn't see him performing so well. Him and TJ would be a great match up.
After seeing all the ridiculous antics of McGregor, which are fun at times, it's great to see Cody bring a different type of element to this fight world. He brought so much heart and inspiration into this. The young kids story is great! And you can see the level of respect the panel has here for what Cody did in this young kids life, and what this young kid did for him.
He's earn my respect for respecting Cruz and giving him a rematch
found new respect for him after actually wanting a rematch
Rocking Gucci Mink Same as well, but I rather see TJ vs Cody to be honest
Let alone beating him pretty badly.
Cruz, himself, said that TJ should face Cody next
Cruz vs Rivera next imo.

Seeing him give that belt to that kid made me almost tear up dude is a genuine good guy who also can throw hands like a docta
Cody post-fight is incredible. So humble compared to the tantrums we've seen all week. So much more respect for the guy.
Bradley S Yeah. It's a relief to see stuff like this.
Fernando Mendoza I've liked Cody as a fighter for a while and it's good to see him not become another McGregor. That said, save for his last fight, Conor is very humble in victory and defeat too.
agreed
Bradley S I thought no he was just exhausted and possibly brain rattled. very unexpected though
Humble Cody, mythical fighter
When you can fight, and show compassion/have heart, that is someone I will follow. I have many fighters I like and support, Cody is one of those new ones after seeing that he can perform AND make lives other than his own brighter. Awesome stuff man.
MayTheyAcheOfficial That's a good point. Some other fighters on the other hand are only interested in bragging about their millions, refusing to give dominant champions their rematch and shitting on other fighters.

Totally agree with you.
Trully an inspiration for all of us, that kind of compassion and balance is needed everywhere!
I was shocked to see Cody win but that was an awesome performance. Congrats to him.
man cmon, he won hands down, cruz was outclassed
Joaquin Mendieta oh I know. I didn't know he would do that to Cruz. Still a Cruz fan but Cody was on another level.
:)
Chauncey Jackson he was the better man on the night. He isn't another level. Dillashaw will beat garbrandt.
Cruz will come back better and win the rematch
Team Alpha Fail finally passed the Cruz test after 6 L's.
Hunam
Take the W, My watch, and my bmw i8
Who are you talking to ya lil twerp??
+doug johnson Cruz 4- 2 Alpha Male you casual
Conrad McGilicutty it's 5-2 and you call others casual
I now have crazy respect for this guy, he's cool af.
SB bandwagon worthy?
SB Yeah for real he earned some respect tonight most definitely. I was super disappointed Cruz lost, but Cody sticking to his word about the rematch takes some balls. If he beats Cruz again I'd say he's a worthy champ. He definitely showed some real talent tonight though. Cardio was insane, movement and timing were incredible, he was on point.
SB such 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Craig Miller I was rooting for Cody to win but to call him a "🐑🐑🐑" already is just dickriding.
@Paulo I swear
I'm eager to see how Garbrandt does in his next few fights, because this fight alone had me on the edge of my seat. His hands are legit.
so sad
Oof
most of the highlights Ive seen of Cody did not resemble the type interview seen here. Respect. Your support of that youngster who fought the toughest fight is admirable and inspiring...a tremendous show of compassion and class. I thank you for that very much. Respect.
Man kept his words. Respect.
Best decision fight since Diaz-McGregor 2
Deadalus DX best 5 round decision fight yes not better than choi v swanson at 206
best decision fight was Lawler vs condit
27 time BJJ World Champion.Agreed.
27 time BJJ World Champion.Conor vs Diaz 2 was great tho.
i enjoyed this fight waaaay more. i loooove diaz and mcg 1 though. it was so shocking.
everyone hurry hop on the bandwagon before it gets full
27 time BJJ World Champion lol
27 time BJJ World Champion you mean the SAME fans who were on the Cruz bandwagon? Lol
been a cruz fan since his win over scott
Is there any room left for the vegan?!😀
lol I'm in I'm n 😂
We want Dillashaw next.
Cruz should fight a top contender like Rivera, and then title shot again.

Careful what you ask for!!
bisping is next on the fox desk to lose his title
artiew87 exactly
artiew87 then dc if Jones comes back.
if he fights in England he'd win the decision
Keep dreaming buddy. Believe you me.
I think it's Tyrone Woodley to be honest
the same guy that couldn't even push Conor beat Cruz, so unexpected haha
Raul Ramirez well I wouldn't say Connor dwarfs Cody but he's definitely bigger
I believe Conor owes Cody at least a "thank you" for making him the #1 pound for pound fighter on the planet due to the results of this bout
Less Stress haha he was sprinkled some immortality and glory from Conor for a bit
Howie PeeBottle Conor has a longer reach than Cody but height wise Conor is only 1 inch taller
Conor is way too.big for Cody just look at the thickness of both frames , Conor would wreck this guy would be a mismatch
What is next for Cody Garbrandt?
UFC ON FOX defend the belt against tj or rematch with cruz
UFC ON FOX Dillashaw. #SnakeHunt
UFC ON FOX Rematch with Cruz
UFC ON FOX

Cody giving that belt away to your friend was the most awesome amazing act I have ever seen!! Great job you deserve the win. That's a true champion right there.
I'm seeing a different side to Cody. Before I thought he was really just this knock out trash talking brute, but he is actually a good person and a pretty technical fighter. His story is pretty touching with his past and with the kid and all.
Cody vs TJ first, that's the more interesting fight. Cruz can fight the winner for the belt after.
Tunti Turpaan I don't think it'll happen though. I like cody but there's a chance matchup wise that dillishaw could work cody. TJ is a high pedigree wrestler whereas I question cody. I definitely think that's an extremely tougher matchup for him and he's smart to take Cruz first
Tunti Turpaan no make TJ wait in till 2020 cuz he lame n borning lol
+JuanTurks27 people said the same thing about Cruz. Cody is the real deal and people will now realise. 32-1 golden glove champion in amateur boxing. cruz is old news
I'm surprised how humble Cody is
Kobe mac me too man
Kobe mac I am also impressed how he's a humble champ. I didn't really like him until now. I was disappointed when Cruz lost, but do agree with the decision.
Kobe mac i wa surprised with the respect they had for each other after the fight.
TenSilver most of the time u go to war with someone like they did afterwards theres nothing but respect...that is unless your names John jones when he beat DC

Hope TJ fights Cody next and beats him

Brendan Burke doesn't everyone well apart McGregor fans jumping on the bandwagon. They love hipsters

Run GGG Run You have a picture of Ward with the name Run GGG Run but they're in different weight classes....?
Run GGG Run everyone loses bruh, EXCEPT MY BOI KHABIBBBBBB
He didn't really. Everyone trash talks before a fight, it's just that bandwagoners are turning on him right now, same way they did when Conor tapped out. Dom is still one of the greats and he can turn things around still.
No, Cody made him...
Run GGG Run na imo Dom didn't think Cody was that ELITE(I didn't either) but one thing is Dom didn't get slept!! I know Cruz will be back for a vengeance!
But the fight to make is Garbrandt v Dillashaw
In round three Cody finally understood Cruz's rhythm... it was over then. Of course he want to fight Cruz again, he "knows him" now.
Remmy Kauffer dunno if that fight will happen again though. I mean sure Cody could KO him in a rematch if Cruz comes out desperate to win back the belt but I think Cruz is the smarter guy, honestly. I think Cruz would have a solid game plan for a rematch
Qwertyuiop

Remmy Kauffer true
Your absolutely 100% correct, Cody has Cruz's number, Cruz is done
i smell a true champion great humble attitude even talkn rematches same night great guy awesome victory
Cody looks like he just finished filming The Dominator.
i have so much respect for cody after the fight.. what a gentleman he is.. kudos to him!
Cody "No Love" Garbrandt vs TJ "The Snake" Killashaw!!! Cruz can take the winner of that fight for the strap again!!!

Mad respect to Cody and this champ I can get behind. Was childish before and now, wow.
Sangerino come on man. Kid showed his true colours before the fight.
Man, I didn't think he was going to be this humble. Props to him!
good win for cody, he suprised me.
PhillyPhan you best believe Cruz will win the rematch and become the first ever 3 time UFC world bantamweight champion.
Doug Johnson We'll see. It'll be an interesting fight for sure.
adrenaline That's your opinion. And if I'm a kid you must be like 60.
Im glad cody is showing dom respect and wanting to give him a rematch he does deserve it
I'm a fan.
why doesn't he look at bisping? do they have beef or something?
27 time BJJ World Champion must be the eye with the detached retina eye, its scary looking.
General Razor El Gato
what did he say?
27 time BJJ World Champion man I noticed the same thing right away
cody really didn't look at any one very much
so not sure it was a snub
Bisping did say he was tipping cruz to win
can't believe how genuinely humble he's is after all that trash talk and still being a young guy on top that's AWESOME tons of respect!
boredSKYLER he is just not good at trash talk, I knew he was always a humble dude already knowing about the story with the kid and cancer.
87willus definitely awesome fight tho
great kid..Hope he keeps it for a long time
What Cody done for that kid was beautiful.

HUGE Cruz fan. mad respect for Cody for giving his respect to Cruz and saying he gets the rematch first. I really respect that.
I want a rematch.
But UFC should probably go with Cody vs... TJ
And I would not blame them for setting that up.
Congratulations for both!
I don't like this. I'm actually starting to like Cody.
I was thinking the exact same thing aha!
Valentin lol me too
Why wouldn't you.
He seems much more real than Cruz.
Valentin got the same problem
nah, Cruz is as real as it gets in the sport, just watch his post-fight press conference.
Conors Touch blessed him, He gave him the power To the fight, EIRAAAAAA
Get off Conor Irish nuts acting like he's a undefeated first UFC fighter ever SHUT UP!
+Prodigy Mobb Conor bless your soul
cody took so many steps backwards in that fight that I half expected him to travel back in time and decide not to get that neck tattoo.
So I guess Conor McGregor just became the #1 pound for pound fighter on the planet due to this fight?
specialK312 ??? Cruz wasn't P4P #1 before the fight
Brandon Standifer
yes he was, Mighty Mouse was dropped a few spots down and Cruz was #1 and McGregor was #2
specialK312 Demetrius Johnson is p4p
+specialK312 it's Mighty Mouse genius

#1 P4P Cody GarGOAT pellow*
a lil funny considering cruz actually made cody's knees buckle
Man that eye brow cut on Dominic looks crazy
It was interesting there at the end Cody seemed to want the rematch more than a fight with TJ.
I have to say, as much as I wanted Cruz to win, Cody is really handling himself like a champ. Very humble and I did not expect that.
Tj beat a guy with no movement whatsoever and Cody beat one of the best,tj won't touch that belt.
Benny Lagoons uhhhhhh Renan Barão hadn't lost in 32 fights over a span of 9 years. when he was champ he was ranked 3rd in pound for pound best fighter. tj beat him twice handily. tj earned that belt and will most def put up a good fight against cody. I'm pumped!
TJ almost had Cruz don't forget
dont even start that with how easily champs have lost their title. If this were 2015 we would be in agreement
2010hellomoto with the style he took from cruz. The difference when they both fought Cruz is incomparable codys speed is crazy
TJ never lost to Cruz he won that fight cody vs TJ need to happen ASAP I really love watching both of them...
Cody is a breath of fresh air for MMA fans. Solid and consistent performances coupled with solid life outside the octagon. Will definitely help the MMA keep growing.
Cody has had so much hate but he did it
Cody was awesome that night, I was shocked by the performance. Also, Cruz handled that loss like a man and like a champion.
I still think a fight between Cruz and McGregor would be interesting. I'm curious to see how they deal with each other's styles. Obviously McGregor would most likely win, but it would still be cool
Austin McCrary lol are you serious dude ? Conor would merk him he got rocked by Cody come on Conor's striking is on another level
Carlos Romero hey, i'm just saying it would be interesting how they would deal with each other. I completely agree with you though
Austin McCrary Connor is way too big for Cruz anyway guy fought at 170lbs dam near a year ago lol
It would be similar to the cody fight except conor would finish cruz
Cruz can't fight going forward. He's a genius at defensive fighting and making people look bad but its a fight which is about damage. Amazing how Cody's simple game plan made Cruz look like a full on noob tbh
glad for cody being a good person to show this Braveheart cancer survivor
rematch?? who do you think would win guys .. cause i know cody shut me up lol
takes a man to admit it XD
detectiveMM yup.. took it like a man
Tim Kruse Cody would win hes got Cruz figured out
Tim Kruse he could of finish dom 3x's but instead pointed at him and laughed and mocked him instead cause clowning & embarrising dom like he did was worse than finishing dom.
Depends how dom adjusts his game. Dom could beat him if he does his next camp right.
That look from ""NO LOVE", when TJ says you know i just wanna go in there have some fun :). WOW.
Garbrandt vs Dillashaw is gonna be insane I cant wait.
Caught a case of the sniffles watching this much respect for Cody.
Good guy, give Dom the rematch next
I have so much more respect for Cody after his performance tonight and this interview. Most fighters would run from a rematch but offering it to cruz then defending against TJ is a class move.
This kid better say "thank you" to Lord Conor. Conor blessed cody when cody tried to push him and got blessed. Conor bless
Sawyer Ng Loool
countdown before cody became a snake in the grass to faber as well lol
dom vs tj 2 winner gets no love
cody would then have a long layoff think he wants that?
Nah. Cody has said that he wants to be an active champion. Although who knows. For the right amount of money I'm sure he'd sideline himself for the winner.
Jon Jones Cody vs Cruz 2 Tj gets the winner. It's not the fairest option as Tj will have to sit out but it's the most likely option
Cody was awesome! I liked that he called out Dilladhaw
I want to see him hold the title as long as Dom has. Good fighter.
zane spang we all have wishes.
I like how he's keeping his word about the rematch. respect
Dominick fought the best he could. Cosy has his ticket. Cody really should fight TJ.
Everybody underestimate Cody from the beginning but now look at him...THE CHAMP
Anybody else been dying of laughter reading these comments?
Love his champion mentality of no doubt giving a rematch and then holding tj as a contender for after.
Chris Benoit's face, tattooed body.
87lycanthropy the face brah
87lycanthropy and the neck girth.
yeah right remind me of benoit :(
whoa.... nailed it
will never unsee
This is a completely different guy than I saw a week ago. I actually am starting to really respect him not just as a fighter but as a person. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon but I'm impressed by the composure and the class to say Dominick is a warrior and deserves a rematch.
I want to see TJ vs Cody before any rematch.
MAN how can you not like this dude!
Great work
Team Alpha NO Fail... #NoLove
Adrian Brown only took them 6 fights.

i love when humanity shows up in a person.
respect for cody raised.
Cody looks like dexter.
Cody "dexter" garbrandt
congrats my man RESPECT dat he's willing to give Cruz da remach .
He reminds me of nick diaz
Anastasia Edunova ????
Anastasia Edunova Cody is actually a champion
Jeb Kush nick was a champion in strikeforce, and he can be a champion again in the ufc
Nick diaz hasnt won a fight since 2011
Donovan Chilton I don't see him beating anyone in the top 5 welterweight.
Cody you have a big heart hope you keep that good luck camp
Cody pulled a game plan out of McGregors play book. Lol I saw so much of McGregor in him in this fight.
Luis L yeah your right i was thinking game plan as in training method for some reason.
87willus it's all good bro.
Luis L lol what?? he didn't fight like McGregor at all..
Cody really is a good guy and did a great job. I knew he had a good chance but didn't see him performing so well. Him and TJ would be a great match up.
Why does he not look at people when they're talking to him?
must be an american thing
jackwycher Nah, I think it's just a Cody Garbrandt thing.
Amazing performance by Cody, but TJ looked so good with the speed, timing, footwork just everything. Tj will take the belt from Cody mark my words. 🙃
Cody is so technical guy his head movement is so amazing.
Wellll sounds like Cody is scared of TJ!! TJ said he's made Cody cried plenty of times after practices 😶😶😶
I can see this guy holding the belt for a long time. He looked great in his movement and in his fight IQ
showed him who was daddy 😂
Scared of tj
Amazing performance by Cody - Congrats Champ
Waiting for Faber to come out of retirement to fight Cody so he can finally win a UFC belt haha nah jk. Cody is great but TJ will smoke him.
