Guy is a living legend. Who else can say they were in the room with Hendrix, recorded some of Bowies greatest hits, played for Madonna, played with Luther Vandross, layed down dozens of funk classics, produced a classic Vaughan Brothers album, and on and on.
And he will sure say it. Like he seems like the kind of guy who needs the busboy to know hes famous
@@timothypnolan I guess he should just shut up during a vid about his career/ life?
@@timothypnolan lol... spoken like a truly complete loser... I can only imagine how shtty your life must be...
Exactly! Poor Tim! Sounds like his own life is one so unfulfilled he would have us ALL live the same way.
Calling "Family Style" a classic is a bit generous
Oh man. What a guy. Could listen to him talk all day long.
YOU CAN WATCH HIS REDBULL ACADEMY LECTURE, TOO INTRESTING.
Mr.Patond OK WILL CHECK IT OUT THANX
Absolutely...what a legend
Me too, he’s amazing and we’re so lucky he’s willing to share his genius.
He had a lot of fun!
That's one of the coolest guys in the whole world.
I'm that dude at 10:53 eavesdropping in awe.
Had the privilege to see Nile Rodgers live in concert and he changed my whole life since then
A world treasure!
He's literally a professor of music. The amount of knowledge he has is insane
"Who are you? I'm the guy who produced a lot of these" - Nile Rodgers, 2018. What an amazing man, producer, guitast and mos of all an artist. Living legend. Dream to work with him.
I never knew Jar Jar Binks was a record producer!
@@suspiciouswatermelon7639 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You just won the Twinkie of the year award.
Nile Rodgers, what a very very special person! He is an absolute legend and superstar, while being such a modest gentle and sensitive person. His story (and regret) around Miles actually brought a tear to my eye. I am very lucky to have seen him play live couple of times (North Sea Jazz) and we all know his songs (both Chic and from his collaborations, although not everyone would be aware of these). Here is a guy who helped shaped modern music. Thank you Niles!
There is only ever going to be one Nile Rodgers. An absolute icon of music, a true creative genius and wonderful human being. His wealth of knowledge and ability to tell the story of music he created is a gift to the world.
24 hours in a day is to short for Nile!I listen to HIM 25 hours a day! Every day! Legend!
There is just no end to Nile's anecdotes, what a life he's had.
Nile Rodgers should have a show where he talks about music for an hour per episode. I would pay for the subscription!!
Nile is a legend. He deserves more credit. He is amazing!
More credit? I don’t know anyone who likes music that doesn’t consider him to be disco music.
Alan Kozak
Yup 👍

He and his partners was big with Disco ,but they was bigger then Disco also. 🥃🎭🥃
What can i say, i love the Doors, Kraftwerk, Chic, Duran Duran, Eric Dolphy, Bowie, Miles, Hendrix...damn
Not only is Nile one of the greatest producers/writers in history, but he's one of the coolest, most open-minded dudes on Earth and one of the three greatest rhythm guitar players that has ever lived. In addition to that, he has always been a huge fan of music. I once saw Chic in concert and it was refreshing and inspiring to watch Nile Rodgers admiring Bernard Edwards doing a bass solo. Nile and Bernard changed the world.
Nile Rodgers is the most interesting man on the planet
Facts. He has lived and directly influenced the most iconic musical moments in modern history. Fucking legend.
NR just cleared up so much history for me. Wow.
I watched this yesterday. I had to come back and comment about this WONDERFUL piece you guys put together. ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️This is absolutely legendary. Nile Rogers is..indescribable..a genius..a prodigy..a truth teller .. a walking lexicon of music..I could go on and on and absolutely every word would be true. This was so dope.
Nile must be one of the most agreable stars, and seems a sincerely cool dude. If there's such a thing as a lamp genius, and ask me to invite three persons to have a beer with, without a doubt, one would be Nile.
eic vet and the other two?
@@cosmblus I feel the same way!
I love Nile. He's one of the Greatest guitarist to ever do it. Get his autobiography.
If I could be a fly on the wall for when his stories took place. Talking music and playing is so soothing.
Imagine crate digging or some shit and looking up and seeing Nile Rodgers just chilling and looking at records like yea it was fun recording this
It must be nearly 10 years ago now when I saw that Chic were performing at The Warehouse Project in Manchester also topping the bill was Detroit Techno genius Jeff Mills, immediately I realised I had 12” singles by both artists with a 30 year gap between them and so promptly bought tickets for the event. At the end of Nile’s set his manager noticed me holding C’est Chic album and asked if I would like to meet Nile backstage, my answer was of course YES. Just one other person was also invited. Backstage I noticed Nile nearby and so let the lady, who was also invited, to meet him first, I took I slight detour as I’d just spotted Johnny Marr who had joined Chic for their final song. As I reached and shook his hand I said “Mr Marr, what an honour . . . . . it was for you to be up there performing with Nile tonight” he looked at me with a momentary look of confusion and replied with a nod of the head saying “Yeah, you’re right”. I did feel a little cheeky saying that but have recently discovered, watching an interview he did for Oxford university, that he had named his Son after Nile. And so I got to meet the man himself, who is as important to Dance music as the river is to Egypt. As you know he has a giant smile, while chatting he asked me if I would like him to sign the two records I held in my hand, as I passed him the 12” single Le Freak I said to him “I bought this a third of a century ago” to which he said with a big smile “WOW” . Such a precious memory.

i see nile all the time, he lives down the street.
never had a clue who he was!
next time i must say Hi. What a fella!
So you talked with him yet? 😊
Nile Rodgers LOVES Nile Rodgers
I'm a pretty hard core punk, underground and extremely unknown groups kinda' guy but I know Nile Rodgers' work. We all do. Always respect the man who works so much.
I have recently realized that just about every single song I have ever REALLY connected with was produced by Niles.
Caught Chic and Nile Rodgers on this Australian tour, playing as the support act for Lionel Richie. A lot of the crowd were like the guy in the store (who are you?), until he started playing all the tunes from the decades of songwriting. Was the real star of the night and still seems to be really enjoying playing music. Oh and he had an amazing coat!
Barsbalona I saw him in Auckland and we got there a bit late. I was standing outside the arena doors listening to the bass pump through the walls “Everybody Dance!” ..... i was feeling in heaven even before stepping through to the floor 💕 and then stepping through to see Nile and the band, best night ever 😍
The coolest of the cool ... Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Quincy Jones... These guys came from nowhere and went to the top of 20th century pop music history. 40-50 years after, we're still listening these guys and their songs !
3 great choices there.
Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder and Quincy Jones......
There's some history
Goosebumps while I watch this amazing video. What a incredible and unic human being is Nile Rodgers. Every record is a moment incredible in his life. I'd buy a book with his life. Could y'all imagine how many inspiring histories this man would've have for share with us? AMAZING!
Filipe Borges he had released an autobiography few years ago titled “Le freak”. And actually t is quite an interesting reading
*"Luther Vandross used to be my boss, and then I cut my first 'Chic' song, became the special man, and Luther was in my band." **2:59** Not only does Nile have an **_encyclopedic knowledge of music and an oeuvre of hit records, but he's just a raw genius overall._** I read his book "Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny" and was captivated by his life story. **_To say this man's an international treasure is an understatement._*
Nile referred to Donna Summer as an avant-garde revolutionary artist that people don't think of as a genius artist, which he does. I love him for that. He thinks history has not treated her kind and I agree.
The Queen of Disco. When I first heard Chic (Dance x3, Yowsah x3) I thought to myself ‘at last Disco music with class’. At the time everyone was jumping on the disco bandwagon and ruining it e.g. Rick Dees and his cast of idiots, with the awful awful tune Disco Duck.
‘I Feel Love’ is THE dance record of all time in every way.

Good times ... Sampled and scratched endless times in hip hop songs ... good..good..good...good...good times....
My idol, this guy is a legend and so humble. I saw his live concert in MGM MD, he said he is cancer free. Music world will never see a musician like him again, from heroin addict parents to a legend.
Legend, but Humble?
@@topofthemornintoya Yes, he is humble.
@@retohofmann5878 if humble is constantly talking about the awards you’ve won, successes you’ve had, celebrities you’ve hung out with (in every interview)
Then yes, extremely humble guy.
@@retohofmann5878 humble: “having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's importance.”
@@topofthemornintoya Compared to the impact that Nile has/had on contemporary music he is extremely humble.
That was one of the more fun 16 minutes of YT I’ve watched. What a life and what a sense of adventure, openness and humble confidence.
Very special human being ,made so many people happy ......
One of the most humble, interesting and talented guys on the planet. Has my complete and utter respect.⭐👍🌟
Nile for President
A true legend. The album "the Doors" changed my life as well
LIVING LEGEND
Read his autobiography and this guy has done it all, such a hero. But more than anything his impersonations of the gods of music are priceless!
And his The Doors story beats mine. Well probably everyone's actually.
NILE RODGERS IS THE G.O.A.T. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
GOAT! Greatest banjo player on guitar😉
Incredibly talented musician, and comes across as being such a great guy.
One of the best things I've watched in years.
This Beautiful HUMAN BEING … is so so so BLESSED BY THE VIBE AND LIFE THAT CANCER COULD NOT TAKE HIM OR HIS SOUL … BLESS THE GOOD LORD FOR NILE ROGERS , RIP BERNARD EDWARD’S, and yet AGAIN PRAISE THE LORD FOR THE CHIC ORGANISATION… this MAN IS THE COMPLETE MUSICAL AND SPIRITUAL PACKAGE……thank you Lord and THANK YOU 🙏🏻 NILE ….Amen …
For those who have lived those days of buying and collecting vinyl, LPs we still own often represents 'snapshots' of life as we have lived it. That's why it's fun to listen to people like NIles relate their experiences with records. Music is life!
My favorite rhythm guitarist. BAR NONE
This is about the coolest f'ing thing I've seen all year! Cheers!
Few people walking the Earth that I'm in absolute awe of.
Nile is one of them!
Watching this video brings to light an aspect of Nile Rodgers that I never really considered, or maybe just took for granted because of Chic's success as a Disco/Dance band: He is a genuine music fan, music student, & music historian in addition to being a iconic and highly influential guitarist. #respect
Talk about a legend. He's got such a cool style with that strat. That choppy sound with those inversions is a lost art. You hear a lot of neo soul groups trying to nail that Nile Roger's thing.
even in disco music nowadays, and those disco kpop music. they all have that nile rodgers thing, which tells alot on his influence.
@@Jee_oon totally! He has a thing for those inversions, and sometimes there's 3 guitar parts that accompany the harmony. It's a thing not many do nowadays. I learned a lot about how to play off the riff without making note salads from Nile.
what a guy!!! can listen to his anecdotes all day
Watch this folks! ...and you know what a living legend is.
The inventor of HipHop, just playin', but seriously. Chic's music played a pivotal role in the first charted hiphop recording. Early hiphop probably wouldn't have happened without GOOD-TIMES by Chic. Nile is a genius! CHIC is legendary and the late great Benard is one of the best bass players ever.
Incredible vid. Thanks so much for posting it. One of the things that I got from this, that I've been trying to share with my son, is how beneficial it is to listen to different kinds of music. Don't imprison yourself within one or two genres. You never know what will resonate with you.
That was wicked ..the power of music is amazing..it truly is the only thing that unites people the world over
This is THE MAN, cannot imagine music without him.
We need more and more people like Nile Rodgers...
That talented, beautiful, humble, and fascinating man is worth about 200 million.
He deserves it.
Nile the doors are amazing but you are as amazing u changed all our lives
When it comes to music, Niles is the greatest storyteller on the planet. I've been a fan of his work since I was a kid in the 70s. Nothing compares to CHIC. Absolutely nothing. What he does with his guitar locks you in a groove/trance that you cannot escape from.
He is a genius. His discography is like no other in music.
Totally agree with you.
Likewise, as a kid in the 70’s I remember saying to friends ‘Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers, The Chic Organization’ …. and here is with it written on his T-shirt.

Nile's score for Coming to America is one of the best in film history!!
Nile should do a spoken word tour. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge about music.
a true gentleman and a true scholar ...
Leaving aside its quality as a music, producer, musicologist, composer and arranger. This man is charming.
I just LOVE this man. Just a wonderful and inspired person.
A Damn Classic!! More of these please 🙏....
Living legend.
This should have millions of views
I thought Prince was cool until I saw this video of Niles!! WOW 🤩
I am so happy these stories are captured forever. This man is a legend and should never be forgotten.
What a gem 💎 that was!!

Best episode of Diggin' in the Crates! Nile Rodgers is underrated.
Nile is such a fantastic storyteller. I really love hearing from him and yet I know almost nothing about his music and that era.
I can help, what do you want to know??? as a kid in the 70’s I remember saying to friends ‘Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers, The Chic Organization’ …. and here is with it written on his T-shirt.

That was crazy what a man and what life
What a genius in music! A life without Nile Rogers music is possible, but senseless! ;)
Absolute legend
Nile is a living legend!
As important to Dance music as the river is to Egypt.

Music is music is music...no color, no race, no boundaries. Nile IS!
"The Swing" is an incredible album!
No joke. I'm a straight r&b hip-hop fan. The Swing was the shit. Johnson Aeroplane, I Send A Message. Bringing back memories. I think they even appeared on Soul Train.
Six degrees of Nile Rodgers.
And the best thing is, he can walk around in that whole world and nearly no one recognises him. I think he really enjoys that, cos he knows who he is. It is one thing to be famous, in the press, TV, and loved by the crowd, but its another thing to be loved and respected deeply by those many heroes who seem to be the super stars but still are seeking for help from a yedi master.
I could listen to this dude talk about music all day. Dude is just a genius and an encyclopedia of musical knowledge, he's played on a veritable who's who of the biggest artists ever living and helped made some of their biggest records (Diana Ross, Sister Sledge, Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, INXS)... all on top of his legendary Chic organization. One of my favorite musicians of all time, bar none.
Crate digging with a legend like this would be like going through a video store with Scorsese or Tarantino: you just try to keep up and don't mind at all falling behind.
love him
genuine regret at not writing a "good times" for miles. he still wants it
This legend is endlessly fascinating I could listen to him all day
One of the BIGGEST legends around today!!! Everything he touched turned god and platinum!
Red Eye Records in Sydney, Australia...Chic played the Sydney Opera House. They were incredible.
Nile is more than just a legend he is a Titan in and world of music
Niles is not only super talented, but he’s a fascinating story teller, and down to Earth. I hope he’s written an autobiography, or is in process of writing one…….excellent video, this series is great and this my favorite episode.
I saw him several years ago on stage, with some "Chic" musicians, at the festival "Jazz à Vienne" (40 km south of Lyon).
In addition to being a music legend who worked with the biggest stars of the latest half-century, and having contributed to many and many and many hits, he's also a very nice guy!
I remember seeing him some minutes before the show began, coming in front of the stage, getting his smartphone and taking some selfies with the audience!!! ^^
Nile is a musical genius. He soaked up every genre of music and cooked up his own unique style.
I really could listen to him talk about music for hours! I'm kind of the same way but my friends tell me to edit my thoughts sometimes!
