Mmh with Patch 0039 the server password is not working any more, allways wrong password on client. Tried various Passwords on the server. Seems to be a bug.
I was just reading that in their discord. With password set users can just leave it blank and get in. I would just keep waiting for fixes before really putting this out in the open. The server save on last player exit is a GREAT update tho!
That would be in the config, if it exists at all. Their discord has a LOT of great info that has all the recent changes in it. Really your best bet is to join their discord. It has been a while since I have read up on this one.
Yupp, and if you try to login, without changing the client port it will kick you back to menu. A few others have commented that changing the client port allows you to use a custom port for the server, but Im holding out in hopes of a fix for the server soon!
@@SeanSR Make sure youre launching the correct exe file. Also I suggest popping into their discord. They have recently made lots of changes to how to set the server up. Some good tips from folks in there.
@@PlatypusMuerte You'd never guess what the problem was so let me enlighten you of how dumb I feel after hour and hours of reading and watching everything I could find. In windows there is a setting for whether you on a private or public net work. Mine for some reason was set to public network. I switched it to private network and it works perfect. I was even able to change the ports from default to my own numbers.
Some guy said (don't remember where) that you can change the port in the server conf AND IN THE CLIENT... by adding -port=xyz and -queryport=zyx in the client launch option... worth a try

Hi, I just tried to follow this tutorial (which I really appreciate) I got an error that the WRSHServer.exe was not found, (I think I corrected that but am now getting an error stating "following components are required to run the program: Microsoft Visual C++ runtime" and idea how to get past this? thank you
The 1st error sounds like youre running the wrong exe file. I think you need to run the NoOneSurvivedServerStart.exe. As far as the C++ runtime error, that might be a requirement for running the server, I likely already have that installed so did not run into that error. I do know that they have a more recent 'how to' for server setup in their discord nowdays. Lots of good info there if you arent already there. Hoping to play this again soon to see all the changes. Let me know if you get it sorted out 8)
If you do not see it in the list, 99% chance the ports are not properly allowed. Running at home or on a remote server? If you are running it at home, try this to verify the outside world can get through those ports maybe - canyouseeme.org/

Been a bit, but I recall on their discord, they had a new guide about setup and install for the server, as several things had changed. Best bet is to hop in their Discord and check that out. Their steam page has a link to their official Discord.
So i rented a server for a year for 8 bucks damn good deal. For me an a friend, but how do i change the loot amount i know like in regular game settings its easy but i have the same ini setting as you and i didnt see a loot ootion on yours either an there isnt very much to any loot at all anywhere. Any idea what the ini setting might be called so i can bump that up? Thanks man in advance.
There is no setting for loot quantity, but there is ResourceAcquisition, but thats not loot. Maybe SuperiorOrHigherEquipmentGainMultiplier is hat youre looking for, 40 is default. Also make sure BOTH object respan settings are not 0. Those make sure things respawn after looting.

Sounds like the issue I explained in the video. A lot has changed since I made this video. I suggest joining their discord and checking out their info on setting up servers. Some good info in there.
I imagine if your machine can handle running a server, and playing the game at the same time, I dont see why not. However you will still need to properly open the ports to find the server in the list unless there is a direct connect option. If youre going to run it on the same machine, you might as well use the host option in game IMO
All I can think of then is its an issue with the client and the server ports. If you are doing this on the same machine, why not just use the built in host option?
i keep watching different videos and follow all step accordingly but i keep luckying out cause for the third time i have done all the start up steps and am missing the 3 manifest files above the .exe, can you make these 3 manifest files available for download please. Cheers m8
run this as the install command: download_depot 2329681 2329681 4079053338987683260 Once done run the normal install command and you well have the 3 manifest files, had to do this to get mine working as well
If you have installed the game from steamCMD, and launched the game for the 1st time (NoOneSurvivedServerStart.exe shortcut) those files should get generated during startup. I dont think they should prevent the server from starting though. Where did you install the server?

Did you install it in program files folder? If youre installing this locally, try installing server on a new folder at the root of C or on another drive.
@@flex4979 15 minutes is pretty typical though. Though being able to change that value in a config would be nice. Even Night of the Dead has save intervals. Just gotta make sure you dont reboot server until right after a save or you lose some time lol
@@flex4979 the real issue is if no players on server, no save created. If all logoff 10 seconds before save, and you reboot server a few mins later, it never saved.
Def annoying they all use same default. As mentioned in another comment, you can set the port on the client to match the server which should make the server port change not reject your login attempts. Did you try that?
There have been so so so many changes since last year when this came out. Your best bet is to join their Discord. They have a channel that solely covers Dedicated Servers now, with a lot of great info! You can get to their discord from the Steam page of the game, on the right side. Im pretty sure its a smoother process after all this time. Good luck 8)

Hmmm, thats odd. Try firing the server up once. Sometimes it gets created on initial load. If not, you may need to create the folders and file.

What misc file are you talking about? If its the bat file, then you create that yourself.
