    Optics Ready is a huge + for me . Have 0 clue why DW did not make a modern slide with optics cut . Its 2023 . They'll still sell rack of them because its cool AF but S2C O.R. is what id take every single time ..

      You answered your own question. It seems pretty clear to me now that parent company CZ didn't want the DWX Compact directly competing with the Shadow 2 Compact, so they mandated that it be initially sold without rail or optics mount.

      @@grafja Maybe . DWX actually debut in at SHOT in 2019 or 2020 . They teased this pistol for couple years. They took an extra 3 years to bring the DWX to market but failed to make OPTICS READY slide . Makes 0 sense to me .
      Whether they did not want the DWX to compete the S2C O.R. or TS2 still does not make any sense . Why wouldn't you want a company you own to thrive with their new pistol series .

      @@xtreme4stringbass That's awesome . I'm not one of those people . I ran irons for damn near 12 years . I switched to MRDS 8 years ago and have not looked back . I can still run irons pretty well but nowhere to the same level as I can MRDS .
      I will more than likely never go back BUIS only on my go too pistols. The only time I shoot irons is on pistols that were given to me by my family and I'm keeping them in their stock form .
      I prefer being target focused Vs front sight focused. I know you can be target focused on BUIS it just take way more time and training. My eyes prefer dot floating through space vs equal height / equal light

      @@seanwhite304 nobody is one of those people. He's just a fud that probably can't even produce a consistent presentation and has to search out his dot, hence the "downgrade" comment. Optics are better in EVERY. SINGLE. AREA. of practical shooting. To call them a downgrade is laughable, nobody that can actually run a gun thinks that. The only downside (save open emitters possibly getting gunked up) is hardware failure...but that's why you keep lower 1/3 irons on defense guns.

    The DWX certainly shoots a bit more accurately and smoother, however having to spend a few hundred to get the slide cut for an optic makes the optics ready Shadows a much better deal. After shooting both the DWX and Shadow2, I still opted for the DWX and sent it back to CZ Customs for an optic cut, very happy with it.

    • @benjaminlanzotti1374
      @benjaminlanzotti1374 9 місяців тому +1

      All of these guns are more accurate than shooters themselves. You may shoot one better than another, but practically one is not "more accurate." That's just your perspective. Another person may walk up and shoot the Shadow better than the DWX.
      Which one is "more accurate" then?

    • @6793student
      @6793student 9 місяців тому

      If you are trying to improve accuracy, speed, whatever else it is MUCH CHEAPER to purchase staccato or Dan Wesson. You can buy Glock 19 for $500 dollars, which sounds “cheaper”, but the ammo cost, your time and effort which you spend getting similar results will easily surpass the price of DWX or staccato in few months.

    • @6793student
      @6793student 9 місяців тому

      CZ meant something releasing DWX compact for $1800-1900 and Shadow 2 compact for $1200-1300. I doubt that the main idea was to sell similarly shooting guns at a different price. 1911 style trigger is better than double/single action for accuracy. DWX is just a better made gun.

I've been enjoying my CZ TS2 for a while now (got the slide cut for an optic) so it wouldn't take much to transition. I would want to finger fondle one before laying out any cash though. People talk about Glock mag compatibility, but for the decerning gentleman, CZ 75 mag compatibility is amazing.
    If I had to pick between the two, I'd say the Shawdow 2 compact. I don't actually care for DA/SA guns even though I own a few. However, I will not buy another new gun without optics compatibility. Also, I can't take a gun seriously for personal defense without a weapon light. If the DWX gets an optic plate, pic rail, and ambi safety, I would definitely consider it.

    Shadow 2 compact for me, I like the optic capability. I'm sure the dwx is a great shooter, but seems like while they were doing all that precise machine work they could have put an optic cut in there. However I've seen on some pistols the internals do not allow for that. Might be the case for the dwx? Does the shadow 2 compact use a firing pin block? I've seen some videos that say yes, while other videos say it does not.

As for the optics issue, I have no experience with them, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on the DWX. Personally, I don't like pic rails on handguns and I don't like weapon mounted lights, so the DW suits my tastes more there. The CZ really turned me on to optics, however. So much so that my DW has been at Cajun Gun Works getting milled for an EPS Carry. Overall, I like them both a lot. I have 3200 rounds through the DW and 1500 through the CZ. The DWX Compact in Condition 1 (cocked and locked) is less of a risk/liability in an IWB holster than a pistol that requires the trigger to be pulled on a loaded chamber to carefully lower the hammer to the 1/4 cocked position for DA carry.

    It seems pretty clear to me now that parent company CZ didn't want the DWX Compact directly competing with their new project they've been working on for years, the Shadow2 Compact, so they mandated that it be sold without rail or optics mount. I don't mind getting it cut for optics but getting the rail cut seems too much. A big selling point of the DWX's are their DLC coating and rail modifications would undoubtedly make a mess of that.

  • @CurtisBrandt

    Both look great. I’ll take the one that feels and shoots the most like the Shadow 2s I compete with, and get an optic on there, all up for about the same price as the other one. ;-)

    I already own a DWX compact and then my LGS got in a shadow 2 compact. I was planning to buy it to, but changed my mind once I saw it. It was very nice, but I really like the wesson better. One big strike on the shadow 2 was the safety lever is so low profile that it is basically not functional. So much that I would not have carried cocked and locked. No way I could rely on that thing in stress. Just my two cents. I ended up buying a nighthawk delegate instead.

    DWX is a good gun for sure. It’s smaller and all its edges are rounded, which makes it very comfortable to carry. It has a perfect 1911 style trigger, do not get why so many people “need” to mount collimator on a gun which shoots perfectly. It’s not a competition gun, it’s a carry weapon.

      I do not need collimator on my carry guns. If I cannot reliably hit the target at 5-10 yards then nothing will save me. Collimators just add bulk to the gun if I am carrying IWB. Speaking of reliability while using collimator… Each time I have to make sure that it’s sighted well, that the battery is not dead, that is not too sunny outside... to adjust the dot… etc! it’s way too much. I am talking about Holosun 407. DWX price tag is high, I agree but all D&W 1911s are priced very close to $2000. I think DWX worth it’s tag just the way it’s build. I purchased CZ p10c for $330 brand new, and it’s very good gun but I am still carrying DWX and Guardian cause I shoot them better. Can hit targets one-handed at 10-15 yards, which is also very important in a defensive type scenario. I do much worse with Glocks and other plastic guns. The carry gun should be your best shooting gun which is very often means more expensive.

    I bought a DWX Compact for IDPA. The gun shoots great, but P-01 and Shadow 2 Compact mags DO NOT work in it. The DWX has special thin base pads, and standard P-01 mag base pads are too thick to lock in. So, if you buy one, plan on another $20 per mag to buy the DWX proprietary pads. Or you can use larger CZ75 mags, but they won’t fit flush.

      That wouldn't narrow it down. I'm guessing both have aluminum frames.
      Both iron and aluminum 'alloys' exist.
      Steel is an alloy of iron + carbon +xyz that usually has triple the yield strength of aluminum alloys and aluminum weighs a third of steel. Being not specific leads to the S&W 'Metal' being confused by some. In reviews maybe you can add if something is cut from billet, cast or forged.

    CZ Shadow 2 compact for the win. Optics, rail, double action. If it had a decocker and a threaded barrel, it would be perfect. However, dropping the hammer to the half-cocked position isn't a problem. A threaded barrel is obtainable.
