The biggest complaint about the belt drive is the replacement on a big twin but on a sporty it is pretty simple to replace. Why you would go back to a maintenance headache, noise and oil on everything pain is beyond my pay grade. That is customizing I guess. The aftermarket can now sell belt drives to people that have chains. Or better yet go buy an old sporty with a chain drive see how that works out for ya!
I am really looking forward to all these mini videos. I have the same bike and have been thinking about doing all the same stuff. Also your editing skills get better with every video, keep it up mate 👍🏻
awesome vid man thanx!! a couple vids didnt show how to do the rear sprocket i think ya want 3/8 play on the chain, Going with the chain to get a bigger tire..that 1 7/8 socket was $60 🤯
Recently did the chain conversion on my 1200c and got a lot of scraping of the chain on the exhaust bracket at lower part of the passages pegs, did you get any scraping? Ended up curing out the exhaust bracket. Thinking of getting the chain slider, but not sure if it will stop the scratching at the bottom of the passages peg.
Hey man in the video I installed a chain slider to avoid the chain hitting the passenger peg mounting bracket. If yours is scraping you definitely need a chain slider. Check out sporty mob on instagram, they sell chain sliders cheap 👌
How much more torque and did you go with the standard o ring chain or the x ring chain. Im doing the same to my 2000 1200s and opted for the gold 530 x rings.
I went with an X ring chain and I didn't notice any noticeable improvement in torque as I went with similar gearing ratio as stock. If you went a larger rear sprocket than I did then you would notice an improvement in bottom end torque but less top end speed.
Really well man. You will notice a fair bit of wear once you first fit the chain slider because the outside links of chain wear a groove in the flat surface. Then when there is a groove on the chain slider from the outside links there will be a notch in the middle of the chain slider where the rollers on the chain have something to rest on. Once the chain rollers have something to rest on the wear is really slow. Hope any of that makes sense.
PLEASE NOTE! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A CHAIN CONVERSION FOR SPORTSTERS WITH ABS BRAKES. THE CHAIN HAS BEEN WEARING ON MY REAR ABS BRAKE LINE. I GUESS THIS MOD WAS UNNECESSARY AFTER ALL 😅
Great idea. Nothing I love more then cleaning chain and recoiling on my Ninja 1000. Adjusting it every so often. Never have to touch my Sports Glide. How boring is that. Bikes are ment to be ridden not make more work and looked at.
There's always someone on the internet who gets triggered by someone else's choices. Sounds like you mustn't be a fan of the custom motorcycle scene if your only interest is riding bikes. Enjoy your stock bikes mate don't worry about what I'm doing to mine.

Right side sprocket is best....big twins are cool apart from whole teardown...😊
Nice work bro. Real professional job. Cheers for the torque specs.

90-100 ft lbs is way too much for the procket locking plate are u sure the manual said that ?
Yes mate it's definitely correct as per the manual.

Love these 72,48,883 ones....simple to dis n reassemble .....chain,belt quick.....no operation like on big ones....😂😂 Right side sprocket is best ....
How is the chain slider holding up?

@@TheGingybeardMan thank you!
Dude how'd you make that look so easy to do? ... looking forward to the next mods.
Thanks brother, You're right It is a bit of a tricky mod, but easy enough to do with all the right tools 👍
Awesome work bro great videos easy explained keep it up
Thanks Henry 🤙
Looks bad ass, good job 🤟
Nice
Only thing unnecessary was the belt.
