I am a guy from Bangor living in Germany, I have to listen to this song at least once a month. A tear in my eye each time. For those few minutes I am home.
timmy langenberg I’m glad you found him. I’ve been trying to tell everyone about him. Sadly, a lot of people just don’t care for great artistry these days. I love most genres of music, but damn, damn, damn… this man reaches in and touches the depths of the soul!
John Paul Riley it's also likely even few people have come back again and again, making the view count higher but the number of unique viewers even lower than implied (eg I am convinced I make up half of the current viewer count, while still being only one person, last time I checked)
My sentiment exactky- it's kinda selfish, but most don't know real music. This is music. Foy is the man. My mission this year is to get to a gig of his. Never been. Been a fan for a few years now.
I use to go to Bangor town as a child , when things got bad in Belfast my mum use to take us to Bangor for the day at the beach it was a happy place, our minds may be tethered but our hearts are wild
when I hear it in my head it sounds more like our hearts are wide open, but when I read the lyrics I realize it's because I'm from the wrong place to hear wild, but I still think it's amazing that words work like that, and both are so great. And now trying to cover his music seems too intimidating because I do not have an irish accent lol. my favorite line in the song
Still my favourite song from the absolutely outstanding Foy Vance. Makes me long to be home in my patch of the north west Highlands of Scotland with family and friends that I miss so much.❤️
Foy is gold, a treasure, instantly relate to the passion, and the pain, he lens to all of his music. Can only hope he continues to make music and share our stories with the world.
My pap and I would always share music with each other. He passed away over a year ago. I just discovered Foy Vance. I wish I would have earlier because this is someone I know he would have loved. This song in particular makes me think of my pap- wish I could share with him. Thank you for this beautiful song, Mr. Vance.
Crazy how when someone sings a song about your home town and you know every bit he's singing about ...Fealty's bar..good old Gerry and Julie preaching while pissed as farts😆 you painted the perfect portrait Foy,always knew you'd go far bud, fair play to you😉
It's hard to think of a ticket price I would not pay to see Foy Vance. I've seen him twice. Not only were his performances amazing, he has the ability to turn his audience into family - we're all his brothers and sisters.
I love you and your music. It's real music we can appreciate, let alone sing to. You are simply amazing. The whole world should hear and know about you. Thank you so much.
Grew up and went to Bangor Girls High School.. such happy, fun memories.. The school is long gone as am I..but often dream of being there... out on the rowing boats and swimming in the sea... miss it very much
WHY WHY WHY isn't this man bigger??? He has so much talent, soul...on and on and on! Love this album AND all of his previous music. It never gets old because his music is timeless, just like all great art.
This one hits my heart deep tonight. Nothing can compare to the people and the pride of the emerald isle. It's inspiring to see the efforts happening to bring peace and communication between the people on either side.
discovered Foy by accident when the live recording of Make it Rain appeared in my recommended. I was absolutely blown away and had to learn more of his music and it's a blessing I did
Saw this fella in Norwich this year and he was FANTASTIC. My wife and I sing his albums in the car smiling at each other, its just brilliant moments. Now booked to see him at the Cambridge junction. Bring it on Foy my man 😀
This has quickly become one of my favorite songs, I'm hooked on him now. Some of the best acoustic and live recordings I've heard. Thank you for the beautiful music.
@@SuperAlicat1979 he was in my class at school , he was a nice guy , knew he would do well after stars in their eyes had an amazing voice , well done foy
Brings back so many memories of Bangor. Used to spend our holidays there many years ago. Loved the song. Roy Vance reminds me of my other favourite singer Van Morrison. Will definitely buy his C D.
Oh my goodness this is seriously, like the most beautiful song I have ever even heard and I'm 43. I was immediately like, Thank you Isaac! My son showed me your song two days ago and I cannae stop listening. I'm actually from Texas but immediately knew there was something about it, and after 10 times through I heard the accent for the first time, your voice is soulful and it almost sounds like an American song at first because of how deep and full the sound is, like an 80s soul rock song almost. All I know is I can't stop listening to you. I actually think this is an example of a song God is inside of. Thank you for giving it to us.
Beautiful. Everything about it. Whatever soul is, you have it. This and "Burden" performed in the same way are two of my favorite performances, by anyone, ever.
I started from Hozier to have some background music while I work. When this song played. I stopped everything. This performance is a spiritual experience.
If you love this one I recommend all of Foy's music but especially "If Christopher Calls" which he wrote about his Father in Law's passing-its haunting, beautiful, and vulnerable... A masterpiece which reminds me as a writer, once again, sometimes the most simple but honest song wields more raw psychological & Spiritual Power than any lyrically complex & musically technical could dream of wielding. I'd also check out "Burden" & "Sapling" ... Pretty much Foy's entire catalogue of music--the man is a once in a Generation Musical Spirit.
Why does this music hit me so much more than the music that's out there now??? Just can't get into modern music. We need this kind of music on the radios
I discovered your music a few days ago. I'm on another deployment to Afghanistan and Sir your music soothes me from all the chaos around me. I'm a forever fan! I hope to see you perform one day. Love it!
Goosebumps all over...that doesn’t happen often. I feel that soul brother. Thanks so much for sharing. Your style reminds me of mine just so much damn better. Peace and love always!
one of my favourite songs absolutely amazing artist. inspiration to young musicians everywhere was going to come watch in Leeds but was sold out! gutted!
It's been a long time since I've been moved by a song as much as this one has moved me and I would like to thank you for that. It is a rare talent you embody. Hope one of your tours brings you closer to Baltimore!

same here bro
Me too! Glad we did though. Wow.
Thank god we did
Same here.
I'm quite glad this doesn't have millions and millions of views, kind of makes it special to the few people who recognise beautiful music
John Paul Riley it's also likely even few people have come back again and again, making the view count higher but the number of unique viewers even lower than implied (eg I am convinced I make up half of the current viewer count, while still being only one person, last time I checked)

Proud to be from Bangor. All my old haunts and people I know. Superb time capture Foy. Terry Francis....maybe someone out there remembers me.
One of the best songs ever written, hands down.
"Our minds are tethered but our hearts are wild" Love that.
i concur.

Give this man a Grammy!!!
Foy is one soulful artist. His writing, singing, melodies. Music just pours out of him.
Foy is gold, a treasure, instantly relate to the passion, and the pain, he lens to all of his music. Can only hope he continues to make music and share our stories with the world.
Oh gosh, that Irish soul. I can't get enough of it. Makes me miss my Pa!

Life is too short to miss out on greatness like this. I'm paying it forward to someone else who loves the blues.
It's hard to think of a ticket price I would not pay to see Foy Vance. I've seen him twice. Not only were his performances amazing, he has the ability to turn his audience into family - we're all his brothers and sisters.
This song punches me in the emotions.
Me too!!! 😍
This is one of my all time favorite songs. He is so talented. All his music hits ur soul
I have no words...
I still drop in here several times a month to hear this perfection.
I love you and your music. It's real music we can appreciate, let alone sing to. You are simply amazing. The whole world should hear and know about you. Thank you so much.
I get this tune stuck in my head so often. Foy created a masterpiece with this one. God, I love it! ❤️🩹 It has healing powers.
My hometown, how much I hated the place, but only after leaving did I realise it’s beauty, and this describes Bangor to a tee
Used to walk to Bangor from Belfast along the lough looking at both the exposed geology and the sea life. Very nice memories
Fabulous thanks you are amazing
I owe my friend a great debt of gratitude. He just introduced me to Foy Vance. Thank you!!
Grew up and went to Bangor Girls High School.. such happy, fun memories.. The school is long gone as am I..but often dream of being there... out on the rowing boats and swimming in the sea... miss it very much
"county down"......best line of the song. Thanks Foy. I feel less homesick now.
Beautiful song about my beautiful home town.
WHY WHY WHY isn't this man bigger??? He has so much talent, soul...on and on and on! Love this album AND all of his previous music. It never gets old because his music is timeless, just like all great art.
that's why he isn't bigger
On point:)
I think I heard he's supporting Elton John this year so watch this space...
He isn't bigger because your government doesnt want people to love eachother and unite
Some people just stop growing at 5’3”. But seriously, this man is a great artist, and I am glad I discovered his beautiful music.
Must feel the same as standing in the same room. Absolute beauty 😍
2;54 give me chills all over my bones EVERY FUCKING TIMES!!!!
This wonderful artist brings me to tears, not because every song is sad but because he is magical whenever he begins to sing. I love you Foy Vance.
This makes me feel privileged to live in Bangor.
This one hits my heart deep tonight. Nothing can compare to the people and the pride of the emerald isle. It's inspiring to see the efforts happening to bring peace and communication between the people on either side.

that voice just gets me every time, so soulful! beautiful song
You, sir, are the real deal!!
I knew Foy when I was younger, and the boy always had a quare set of lungs, but he's just amazing now. What a wonderful ode to my hometown.
He's certainly a major credit to the musical world. Stumbled on one song and haven't stopped checking back once 😁
Legend, thanks Foy

Beautifully sung and memories come.
Fantastic.....this is how you make a tune!
Saw Foy opening in Scotland for Elton John it was fantastic. Can't wait to see him again in Chicago this October.
Makes me happy knowing real music is still out there.😌
This song makes me homesick for home, even when I am at home! Another amazing song from Foy! ♥♥♥
Reminds me of a nice combination of Van Morrison and Daryl Scott. Great song sir.
Why does this music hit me so much more than the music that's out there now??? Just can't get into modern music. We need this kind of music on the radios
I'm from Bangor but live in England for uni so I'm not home much. I've been unable to stop playing this the last few days!
