    My 5-year old granddaughter and I cleaned out her drawer at my house 2 days ago. She watched a video similar to yours the night before - she told me Grandma we need to make 2 piles - keep and donate. I made sure she understood what donate meant and we did a great job. Thanks for sharing your experience and hard work with us. Two thumbs up !

It is a great exclusive product for decluttering your home minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my m8 finally got astronomical results with it.

      Cheers for this, been searching for "organize home clutter" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Vanonnor Tenhloe Equalizer - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.

    I used to stock up on stuff, but even when deeply discounted, it still takes up space and represents money and time occupied with buying, storing, sorting, etc. I've been married 25 years, and I've learned less is more, and that less stuff means greater efficiency in cleaning and budgeting. It's all personal preference, in the end. But seeing your video reminds me of me 15 years ago, and standing on this side of it I would never go back to that way of life. I don't miss having a closet full of cleaning supplies and toiletries because I look at the concept of frugality and savings in a different way these days. In fact, I delight in empty drawers and shelves. Good for you for working on clearing stuff out and organizing; keep it up!

      I really struggle with understanding the compulsion of turning one's home into a storage unit. Excess toiletries/cleaning supplies doesn't make any sense to me, especially in homes that lack sufficient storage to begin with. No one needs 10 years of cleaning supplies and toiletry on hand at one time. The quality of the products degrade over time and she could pair it down to 1 of the 4 stack storage shelves for what they ACTUALLY use..

    • @katiecommon3614
      @katiecommon3614 5 років тому +41

      @@AB-ol5uz I think some people think they are saving money by buying things with coupons, but they would save the most money by not buying the products at all. Laundry detergent=make your own. Dryer sheets=dont need. Commercial cleaners=use water and vinegar. Body washes= use bar soap. Paper towels= cut up old towels and launder when needed. Coupons encourage wasteful hoarding.

      yes to a certain extent but this day and age you still have to have a well-stocked house I would say a year worth of food are year, worth of water for everybody in your family in case of nuclear war or any other issue flood whatever you still have to have items to cover those issues but otherwise yeah you don't need a year worth of clothes and you don't need! you know yeah you probably do need a year worth of cleaning supplies in case one of those things happen you never know but otherwise there's other ways you can minimize and still be safe for your Loved ones!!

      I tend to keep one extra of each thing under the sink. That way if I run out, or a little one decides to pour it out, etc, I have a spare. This is only for toiletries and cleaning supplies. It sucks buckets running out of swiffer wet mop refills halfway through cleaning the floors, lol! So one tote of spare cleaning supplies, and one small basket of spare toiletries. When I toss an empty, I add it to the list to restock my single spare.

    • @KristinKay
      @KristinKay  5 років тому +11

      With children I don’t want to be a minimalist. I don’t think people understand this whole “konmari” it’s like if you don’t throw everything away and have zero left over you’re not decluttering enough. My house has been like this for almost 3 weeks now and none of the spaces I have decluttered are bad. It’s working out great for me. Thanks so much 💕

    • @shegoeslightly
      @shegoeslightly 4 роки тому

      Minimalism is the art of not being able to bullshit yourself with your justifications. People can explain all day why their purchases are warranted, why their houses are full, and online strangers will agree. But when you go home and your cupboards are bursting, you honestly know it's not because of lack of space, it's because there's just too much crap.

  • @faithkaykambobe3512

    I like how real and how practical your video is. You cleared out a lot of stuff and still kept what you needed and tidied up what you kept. Some videos after tidying up show an extremely empty house which makes me wonder how realistic it is because life still goes on but must be orderly of course.

    So I'm a Grammy now but when our children were growing up I would send them to their grandma's house to play with her while I cleaned out closets and toy chests. You know they rarely even realized stuff was missing! ☺ Now with just my husband and myself I still do a declutter about every 6 months and I feel so free and happy when I can sit back and know THAT closet is clean. (And also know that when I open it sheets, towels, table cloths, etc. won't swallow me up completely!!😬) I love your videos and it was a pleasure to subscribe to your channel.

    Your method of decluttering really resonates with me! I found the concept of doing a whole room at a time too daunting to get started. Breaking it down to areas instead of whole rooms seems much more doable. I think I’ll start with our hall closet and pantry. You did an amazing job. I love your helper.....When I declutter it takes forever like you said. I went through every drawer in my kitchen and pantry. When I was working or away for a few days I would come home and I wanted to cry. I try to be nice, but the wicked warden comes out. What I hear is why does it matter, it was fine. Mom you don’t need to worry, nana I really wanted that because my mom gave it to me. Yes our grandchildren live with us since my daughter passed away 3 years ago. I try and get rid of things when no one is home. They don’t realize that it’s gone. But then I come across a memory and I fall apart. That’s all it takes and I throw in the towel. Kristen you have done a great job. Your children are young so you can place things in a great place. Keep inspiring all of us. Yay on the potty training too! I have 6 children all grown but started over 3 years ago, thank goodness they are potty trained. Thank you for your beautiful smile.

      I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. My oldest daughters dad passed away almost 5 years ago. It’s still so heartbreaking. We have a lot of his items and a couple things that were made or he gave to Scarlet before he passed. Let them keep those items no matter how hard it is. I have totes of items that belong to Scarlet of her dad and I figure those are hers and she can do what she wants with them when she gets older. I don’t find that hoarding what so ever. Memories are hard. Keep up those smiles for those grand babies they need you 💕💕

    What a great little helper you have :-) It looked like you at least keep everything of a kind together, but just hadn't organized it very well. Bet it felt great to purge all of the things you no longer need. Love your advice on tackling small areas. I spend 20-30 mins when I get home from work getting my fridge or a cupboard cleaned, the vacuuming done, etc. Works well for me.

      @@trinketbox4171 I understand what you're saying. People that are going to judge, post negative comments, and say mean things need to look in the mirror. Everyone needs to stop talking shit. Because I know if people would provide constructive criticism, Kristin would have been more than happy to engage them. I don't blame her for not wanting to listen to that crap. She posted a cleaning video with hope of help people, not for people to rudely judge her, and her home.

You're saying she has the OPTION to disable comments if she wants, correct? Not that she SHOULD disable them? I agree posting your personal life on social media does open up the door to judgement ect. But as a viewer/subscriber why spend your time going around saying things you know might be hurtful?! Why not politely offer your suggestions in a positive manner? Personally, if I watch a video I don't care for I just move on. I'm not going to waste my time bad mouthing someone. What is the benefit in that for anyone? Nothing. All I'm trying to say is if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I been dying to do that to my home. But I work full time and on my days off I have to clean, do laundry run errands, groceries and so much more. But watching your video, I’m taking your advice and doing one thing at a time to accomplish all the things I want done. I’m also getting married. So sometimes I just wan t to scream!! Lol.. not to mention, my fiancé wants us to buy all house through all this as well. He’s going to kill me. I can’t see planning a wedding. Working , and moving to a new home will help me at all. But before we do all that I have to de clutter. Since we live in a two level home and I have so much in my closets. I live to change my decor a lot, you can imagine that stuff I have saved through out the years. Anyways, enough with my rant lol. Ty for the cleaning inspiration. Love your channel.
