  • Xtreme Community Crave Review. Xtreme Community Crave flake food is new in NZ & I once thought Xtreme Fish Foods was all hype, but after trying Xtreme Community Crave, I can see why it is liked. Xtreme Community Crave has an incredible nutritional breakdown. Xtreme Community Crave is a krill and spirulina flake, so ticks two boxes at once, unfortunately, for me, it does not have any insects in it at all. Xtreme Community Crave was eagerly taken by all fish that I tried it on. Although it produced more waste than our other test food, it was not a significant amount more.
I hope tis review of Xtreme Community Crave, helps you in your fish keeping journey moving forward.

I was going to get some Xtreme food (the nano, betta & fly-flake versions) based on the rave reviews it gets overseas, but decided not to after seeing the ingredients lists for the products (too many fish-based ingredients in the insect-based flake & only fish & plant-based ingredients in the other 2, so it sort of felt a step down in terms of ingredients for my fishes needs). The species I have are mostly insectivores, so that is a large determining factor for me when buying food for them.

Yeah I feel a real similar way, especially when it comes to insects in food (which I think should be in pretty much all). Some exception should be allowed, like in this case, it is spirulina & krill,so makes sense. But I would expect more when it comes to the insect product. I did love how high the nutritional analysis was, that was a big tick for me.

@@TheFishRoom Agreed- it has good nutrient values from a percentage standpoint, (algae-based food aside), I just personally feel (especially for the most commonly kept smaller species of fish, nanos & bettas), that the heavy fish-based ingredient list is not really species appropriate for the majority of them, which kind of caught me off guard a bit- I was expecting an ingredient list that would put all others to shame I guess lol.
I could fully understand the heavy use of fish-based ingredients in foods designed for the more predatory species tho.

@@nixequestrian3721 100% hear what you are saying, and agree with it all! I will be looking at a couple of the other options before either taking them on or dismissing them into stock.
