The Montreux Jazz Festival takes place for two weeks every summer in Switzerland, drawing 250,000 music lovers to the shores of Lake Geneva. Since 1967, the Festival has celebrated all genres of music and generated countless legendary performances. Artists who have graced the stage of Montreux include Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Leonard Cohen, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Nina Simone and many more.

i love how he just gets carried away like hes not there
The one thing i have always loved about Paul is the way he feels music. Its amazing to see him connect with a song and then give it to the crowd. Not many people can do that, but he does that really well!

Er ist jetzt nicht der beste im erklären wie er das alles macht aber der Junge hats einfach drauf. Man merkt wie er die Musik lebt wenn er dann langsam anfängt mitzusingen. Der kann einem nur sympathisch sein. Paul die Legende

Denkt mal er müsste das erklären was er da grade geliefert hat. Da brauchste ne woche um es genau zu erklären
Naja da zeigt man ja nur wie er auflegt, was da aber dahinter steckt ist noch um einiges mehr z.B die Produktion der verschiedenen melodien oder kicks, hihats usw. er nimmt ja auch Töne aus dem normalen alltag her. Also ich würde ihn schon als den besten bezeichnen
@@lukash5176 er legt nicht nur auf sondern macht das komplette arrangement das ist viel mehr als nur zwei lieder hinter einander anzumachen und einen filter sweep dazwschen zu hauen
@@giamy9641 Er hat doch erklärt was er da macht: die vorproduzierten Spuren kommen aus Ableton und er mixt sie im Mixer zusammen. Am Mixer hängen noch Effekte die er hier und da auf einzelne Spuren legt. Also alles recht simpel eigentlich.

@@qrco163 all live sets are prouducer by the artist. You can't do a live set with music from other people. The particular thing of Paul is the set up. Normally we use midi controllers and sometimes analog stuff to control ableton but this genius is using a fucking studio mixer hahahah fabulous!

It's really easy to understand if you have ableton :)
I use Renoise and that's a completely different mindset. Was kinda interested in maybe hearing some workflows of this guy, but pffrt, jeez man that's not a workshop, it's just a DJ set.
It's not a DJ set. A DJ set is when the tracks are complete and you mix them together. Here he use I belive 16 diffrent channles and he has mabye lets say all the kick drums that he is going to play on a show on channle 1. Then mabye all the highhats on 2 or whatever. And diffrent melodies and basses and whatnot in all the other channles. He is there for actully mixing the track together right there! Much more skill than just beat matching 2 songs! Mabye I explained it poorly but I tried :D Never used Renoise so I cannot relate anything in there to what he is doing but it is basicly a mixer that he uses live. (the hardware) You could almost say ableton was made for this reason. When I make a track on my APC 40 I'll send you a link so you understand fully ;)

it's unique. It's like everything Is conected in a way that only he knows how yo create a feeling with the set, people anda him!

What is the beat machine he is using?
It‘s called Acidlab Miami. It‘s based on Roland 808 circles and is made in Germany by a small Manufacturer. It has a little bit more punch to it though then the original one, and the kick has a longer decay if you need it, but the sound is amazing!

Whats the device racked just above the mixer with the big knobs? I think the Mixer Is a Midas.
Actually I think they are midi controllers controlling the sends to the aux fx returns in ableton. Custom build to fit on top of the midas desk.

@@zigarettenposer5714 ja jeder Kanal hat seine eigene ..um alle Signale aus Ableton in in den Mixer zu jagen !...das ist ja kein Midimixer sondern audio

Also... Paule is ja einer meiner ganz großen Helden. Aber... merkt eigentlich sonst niemand, wie er übelst krass Fadermoves faked ? Er greift routiniert, mal zu diesem, mal zu jenem Poti, ohne etwas an diesem zu verändern. Ich fnd ja, daß er sowas eigentlich nicht nötig hätte. Seine wirklichen Skills behält er dann doch wohl lieber für sich. Ich mag ihn trotzdem, aber sowas auch noch als Workshop anzupreisen... ich weiß ja nich...

Ist ja eine Katastrophe mit den scheiss House/Dance DJ heut zu tage, welche kaum noch was live dem puplikum bieten ;)
