Hozier talks Morris Day and the Time, Jucy Lucys and Annie Lennox

Breakthrough artist Hozier chatted with The Current's Jade before his big sold out gig in the First Avenue mainroom on Friday, Feb. 20. The two talked about Morris Day and the Time, the Twin Cities staple Jucy Lucy (which he described as "a thing of terrible beauty" in a tweet post-show), Annie Lennox and much, much more.

I got to see both Asgeir and Hozier in the same small venue in Vancouver (different times obviously) but walked out of both shows picking my jaw up of the floor from the staggering talent of both. Iconic humans. You're blessed to hear them in person.

Wikipedia: the song is composed by Hoagy Carmichael in 1939, with lyrics based on a poem written by Jane Brown Thompson. Thompson's identity as the author of the poem was for many years unknown; she died the night before the song was introduced on radio. Many artists have covered it since, including Frank Sinatra who released it in '55. Chat Baker recorded it in '54 but released it in '56. So it is difficult to say who was first, but it was certainly recorded by a lot of artists before and after them!
