After watching this video, I now know how to do the Trapeze Wind-Up Technique and I can wind it up without twisting and faster too. I got the yoyo to roll up halfway now with the walk the dog method, so much better than the first method. Great site with videos too.

My wife and i recently bought our kids a wooden yoyo pro. one works perfectly but the other the string isn't twisted enough. its just a loop at the bottom where the yoyo goes. Do we need a new string? or is there something we can do to get the string twisting enough that it will grab the axle? wish i could add a picture.

I recently got into yoyos and I got a Duncan imperial from a toy store, it worked great for a day but now every time I through it it will sleep , and it becomes really hard to wind up, any help?
That happens if the string is too loose on the axle. If you unravel the string, then pinch the string just above the yoyo, then twist the yoyo so the string gets tighter, the next time you throw it and the yoyo sleeps it should be easier to get it back up. If you are interested in seriously learning tricks I would recommend getting a ball bearing yoyo like the Fizz we used in this video. They sleep much longer, play more consistently, and just make yoyoing more easy and fun in general. yoyotricks.com/shop/fizz-yoyo/
If you are going to get the Sage yoyo starter pack, I would recommend the Sage first. It is easy to use, but with the upgrades in the starter pack it can take you further than the Fizz. If you just want to get the yoyo and some strings, however, go for the Fizz. It is designed to be the easiest 'first' yoyo on the market, and you can learn the first 20-30 tricks with it no problem.
Dude. I am advanced player. I do ladder escape type of stuff and I can not do ninja vanish. I was trying to learn it today. My finger was hurt from it, and i couldn't get the yoyo to the string. I can do vanish grind but it is very different trick. Any tips? Thank you for answering me. I mean, I do it like 8 percent of the time but that is not enough for me.
Try thinking about it as 2 motions. The first is to just pop the yoyo up. The second is to whip the string. Watch the slow motion on our video and see how Brian moves his hands. See if you can replicate that and I think you will see your stats improve.

I’ve been doing my trapeze wind up technique wrong for 25 years 😡 so since I bought the new magic yo-yo 🪀 wheel baring I need to try each myself how! I’ve always used my middle finger to pinch but that messes up everything with this new 🪀. So 2 days of messing up everything and going back to basics. Just expect things to just...work. over 20 years later, I can try again, test my paitence once again and perform a trick that's just other than sleep, walk the dog, around the world, and perform the rock the baby move or something else.

Got my fizz Yoyo from you guys and having great fun. The video you guys have about tying a slipknot, getting rid of spaghetti string, etc, was super helpful! However, I'm quickly getting tired of the basic wind but every time I try the trapeze wind-up my Yoyo stops about halfway down my throw, killing its momentum, and then goes down for the rest of the throw. Got any advice to deal with this?

My english is bad so i cant explain this fully well. We have the same problem on the trapeze wind-up, and i think i found a solution on this. I think the issue here is we leave that small knot made after pulling the string up then wind the yoyo to the normal wind-up direction (which is forward most commonly). So i kinda figure that out (idk if this is right but it works), after pulling up the string, pull the excess knot string that is in our finger that is holding the toyo than wind it up reverse(wind backwards facing you)
In general, I would say a responsive yoyo like the Fizz or the Sage Yoyo Starter Pack. There are fewer difficulties to overcome with a responsive yoyo before you can start learning tricks. However, if you want to get into really advanced tricks quicker, you can start with an unresponsive yoyo. Once you have a good throw and can bind consistently, advanced tricks will be easier to learn on an unresponsive yoyo.
7:02 exactly the same problem with people learning diabolo!! There is something that drives humans towards pendulums, oscillations. To me is hilarious, some times, some people are unable to stop doing it even if you ask and they say ok they'll do it. Midway their brain tells them, nahh, our plan had more sense xD
This is so true! I have tried teaching a few people to start a diabolo and every single one has taken like 15 seconds before lifting it off the ground just going back and forth over and over again.

I've been playing yoyo about for one week I bought a new unresponsive yoyo but it I don't know how to rewind it bc I only master responsive
