Wow I just recently got into the mega man x games and already I am floored by the passion emitted from its fan base. I just got to mega man x4 and will definitely get to zero. OMG I didnt know there was someone crazy enough to try to make a 3D version of Megaman Zero. I absolutely love those games, even replaying them now, and Im so happy to see this project (could you believe some weeks ago I was thinking about how 3d modern megaman X or Zero could look? Crazy lmao).

His little fan game strongly reminds me of Protodroid Delta which is Mega Man X in 3D by an independent developer. When I first came across the video I concluded it was an early video from one of the developers or something. Protodroid Delta has a cast of racially diverse characters which I appreciate, hope they haven’t gotten too much backlash from a certain toxic subset of gamers. It doesn’t beat you over the head with social politics so it shouldn’t really bother anyone; not that it has ever stopped the self designated anti woke crowd from making mountains out of molehills. Moving on, I have no idea why Capcom is so against the concept of 3D Mega Man. They cancelled the third Legends game and gave us a very dubious excuse.

I just happen to fall upon this by accident on YT and I have to say, this looks incredible and does justice to my fav character of all time. I cannot wait to see the final product of this. Major props to you sir! ^^
Love how you explained each portion of your build and the mindset you took to develop it. As someone who has never developed a video game but has coding experience, I was able to follow and understand completely. Looking forward to more and seeing the finished product!

Bro. The 3d transition to this combat is impeccably done. With some DMC style juggling/more mechanics/combo structure/etc., (To make it like a fully viable 3d action adventure game) or maybe something newer OR traditional that focuses on exploration/high damage/level patterns and simplicity, you could single handedly fill two niche cravings at once for fans: Legends AND Zero! Badass, dude!

I remember how I once thought, that the Kuuenbu is the spinning slash attack, but in fact is the double jump. As I was taught Kuuenzan is the actual learned skill, which lets Zero spinslash.
As for the project, it is astonishing to see Z Zero do stuff in 3D. The last time he did anything 3D related was that Onimusha game.

To me, one of the biggest hallmarks of Zero's design is that he draws his sword to start his combos, especially in the zero series. Iaito drawing from the hip near instantly both looks and feels really cool, as opposed to always having the saber out.

Honestly a 3d remake for zero 1 sounds like a dream come true.
With how it's level structure is all interconnected similar to a metroidvania, turning it into 3d remake basically would give automata some genuine competition for world design

I love this project cause it gives life to Zero in amazing ways. This is the Zero that we have in mind when playing but the limited gba hardware couldn't do.
Things I really liked about this video:
- The focus on Zero's mobility.
- The wall climb
- The gun effect looks pretty good
- The sword attack + apeciak attacks are superb.
- The particle effect from the sword makes it looks so good I can't even describe it properly.
You're amazing. Great job.

I'm an old veteran fan of the entire megaman series and I'm proud to say this is amazing I hope this project continues to your fulfillment. There was another group working on a megaman legends project similar to yours. Don't know if they ever completed that
I've always personally thought they could have done way more with the series moving forward. So I'm glad to see someone attempting to experiment with what this series could be capable of.

Bruh. This looks so clean. I could definitely see a modern 3D Zero game with DMC like combat, Mirrors Edge like parkour, Dark Souls like level design (Level Design, not turn it into a souls like).

OMG YES! MMZ REALLY NEEDS AN AMBITIOUS REMAKE WITH VAING AND ANIMATED CUTSCENES! And it also needs story elements from the artbook! There's so much important story elements that you would only learn about from the artbook and it's asinine that chunk of the story and details is left outta the games!
Amazing stuff. This feels like the true successor to the beloved 2D megaman games. Also, really appreciate you posting your documentation, as it's waking me up to how proper project management should work on a personal level. I rely way too much on flighty moments of motivation with little structure that ends up leading to a lot of backtracking and, well, stopping lol.

That's awesome, dude. Only suggestion I could have is a lore thing... In that Zero's saber isn't stored on his back but rather on the pouches on his hips.

Literally the first level is a forest that is fused with technology and go into an ancient facility to awaken a legendary reploid hunter.

what's funny about this is that i had a dream that capcom decided to make a 3D Mega Man Zero hack n' slash style game a few years ago and it was very close to how this looks. can't wait to see more progress!

This looks incredible, than only suggestion I would make is that since the OG game had the ability to swap your main/active weapon, you could have the buster function more like Volnutt from the Megaman Legends series if it was the "active" weapon. That way you still retain the speed and mobility you have with the saber.

my only nitpicks are that his Saber handle is grey here instead of white, and it shouldn't be back/shoulder mounted, his saber handles are stored in his thigh holsters when not in use.

I just picked up the Zero/ZX collection couple months ago. FANTASTIC games, their already some of my favorite games of all time. 3 is my favorite (cannonball anyone?) almost beaten 4. I'm not holding my breath but I would LOVE an official remake of these games.

To capture the flow of the originals, I suggest that buster charge automatically targets an enemy. This makes charge shot much more practical in a game about movement, and also allows some combo depth to be added

It's not often that i feel jealous towards something, but holy shit!! dude you make everything look so easy. And i know for a fact it's not. Just the shaders alone! the rigging and the extra animations for the attacks. Damn... This is like the instagram of devblogs ahha everyone will think it's so easy and stress free, while in reality you are toying with your physics...
