Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I just taught my 9 year old granddaughter how to crochet using it and she made herself a lovely scrunchy. She’s one beaming girl and then downloaded onto her Dads phone your tutorial in case she needs a refresher. Pretty awesome!
I've recently been watching your videos and came across this one. I made my first scrunchie tonight in 35 minutes. I was so excited. Thanks so much for sharing this video and your talent.
Very pretty! You did a nice job showing your work. LOVE the rich pretty cranberry cider color. It's always fun to see what companies name their colors. Soft and stylish. Thanks for sharing!😀
I've just made two of these hair ties my first ones! I hope this is something i can add to my collection of things i sell and make. ❤ thank you for such easy pattern!
How many ounces would you say you use for one hair tie? It’s a weirdly specific question I’m sorry, I just like to preplan so I don’t play yarn chicken!
Velvet yarn has a tendency toward "worming". It has a rigid length, and it's very slippery, so the looseness in your stitches can gather into one spot where a loop will worm its way out. You can try a different type of yarn which displays a little bit of stretch and/or some more friction.
Can you explain more in-depth the math behind why a base chain of 35 is the one that works? Is it for the ruffling effect of the rest of the stitches? How much expansion of the hair elastic is restricted by the 35 chain stitches?
35 was just a number I landed on that covers the elastic, allows it to still stretch, and creates a good amount of ruffles, you could do more or less if you wanted…I usually end up doing between 35 and 40 because I don’t bother counting
@@PassioKnitKelsie Thank you for the reply. I'm new to crocheting so I never know when something is super precise for a specific reason or if it's just "this is what I found works." I'm going to try making a few of these with cheap elastics for my girlfriend, so thanks for the tutorial.
Hi, i was wondering if i’m allowed to sell scrunchies that i made with your pattern. I know that some people don’t let others sell things that they made with their pattern and I just wanted to make sure before I sold anything.
I got very confused when you started chaining, could you post an updated one with softer music since I can’t really hear and I think it would be easier. Thank you!
@@PassioKnitKelsie thank you so much! Bought some of the Bernat velvet yarn today (velveteal) and making my first scrunchie with this yarn. Thank you for the tutorial!
Your joking right? single crochet all around elastic, and do 3 double crochets in each stitch around for the next row...can't get any simpler than that!
@@karenpalmer9988 wow you’re joking right. That’s not very nice because I said your going to fast. We’re not all the same here. I’m deleting you because your not professional

I liked the music! Nice jazz. Cute scrunchies. Thanks for sharing!
I love your tutorials. You are so good at explaining it and so slow and make it easy for someone to fall along. Thank you.
It is soo cute! I love the big scrunch on it. Also, it looks super soft!❤
I'm a newbie crocheter and I Did it!!! Thank you!!
As a new beginner, this looks something I can try.
This is such an easy pattern and looks gorgeous. I have a bunch of velvet yarn and I’m going to make these. Thank you for sharing!😊
These are so awesome, I just wish I had hair long enough wear one. Still a super cool wrist band though.
It turned out great, thanks 😊
These are so pretty! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Using this as my first project with a crochet hook as I've only worked on sentro before!
Starting some time this weekend so let's see how I go!
I love crocheting. In Africa its bor a common skill but I qant to taje it on. Nice one
Thank you for the tutorial ❤❤❤
Love the tutorial thank you! I just feel as though the background music was a little loud
Thank youuuu❤
Thank you ☺️ for the tutorial ,,,,,, It helped me a lot.❤❤❤
Nice, I have velvet wool going to do this
Thank you for the tutorial! I just made a couple scrunchies, but none of them scrunched, they were just flat. I used 35 loops around. Any tips?
Maybe your hair tie was bigger than mine :) you can always do more than 35
@@PassioKnitKelsie I’ll try that, thank you!
Can you use a different type of chunky yarn?
I am using bernrt baby velvet what hook size should use ?
Me too! I used a 4.5 mm hook. 4.5 or 5 would work. Hope this helps!❤
Looks like a fun game

It's beautiful but I have one hint, try to lower the music Next Time because it's difficult to follow what you're saying ❤
Do you have issues with loops of yarn sticking out after wearing the scrunchie a couple times? Cause I do :/
I used too when I was making them with half double crochets, it is usually because the stitches are too loose so I would maybe use a smaller hook?

Can we make it with normal yarn instead of chuky yarn 🧶😊

Is it stretchy ?

@ Thank you so much
thanx for sharing...
Whenever I try to hide the ends, they come out when you use the scrunchie
❤❤
Nice

I made a few scrunchie.
But it is not a pretty flower shape like you made it.
I don't know why. 😢😢
Great job. Does this need to have yarn? Or can I use paper?
Jacob Beckham yarn preferred
Paper??
Paper?
nice!
How many scrunches do you get out of one ball??
I’m not sure, quite a few, probably 20

When you stretch it, the elastic does show, eh?
Only if you stretch it very far. If you don’t want it to show at all you can add more stitches

written pattern?
Rnd 1- 35 sc and sl st to join
Rnd 2- 3 dc in each stitch around
Good tutorial except for the music. Couldn't even listen to the whole thing. :(
What was wrong with the music? I thought it was nice & relaxing.
Too loud
turn the music down and turn on closed captions to read along!
Can you stretch it
Yeah! It works exactly like a scrunchie, I wear them all the time.
Kelsie Beckham wow thanks for replying so fast haha i went to walmart after watching this video
3 years and the comments still keeps comin
:)
Hair ties, not ponytails
Pony tails
You go too fast to see what you're doing.
I suggest watching a tutorial on single crochet if you’re having trouble keeping up.
YT also has a feature to slow down video playback, and you can also zoom in (at least on mobile devices. 😊
Slow plz🙂
