In New Orleans the state police and Louisiana Sheriffs Association completely took over organized crime. In the French Quarter, retired sheriffs own strip clubs, the ones that are not connected to the Louisiana Sheriffs Association are routinely cited by the state police for petty health code violations. Recently the city required all non connected strip clubs to hire security (protection)from a security firm that is ran by retired members of the state police. The LSA took over the video poker machines, they also deal in marijuana and cocaine to high end tourist. It's really disgusting what they are doing to this city and state of Louisiana as a whole. Who can you trust anymore? Now they are pushing for a whole one cent sales tax hike to pay for special state police details within the French Quarter, they completely by passed the NOPD when it comes to police protection within the French Quarter. Now the new governor, who is the son of a sheriff and has a brother who is a current sheriff is sealing the deal by giving the state police a 30 percent salary hike at the expense of tax payers. These people are the real gangsters, forget about the Italians. Who else in what other industry gets a 30 percent salary hike? You would think the FBI would look into this, especially after they swung with hundreds of millions and up to Billions of dollars from the BP spill via special security details that no one actually worked, transportation service, ect... they had every single BP contract that was awarded, even the food catering was done by the local sheriff.
