A much higher price tag and Playmates can't even be bothered to paint the backs of the figures? You're right, that is insane! Walmart and Target both suck on preorders. But Walmart is worse.

The retail figure has a weapons sprue which makes up for the lack of paint. I was initially put off by Mike's crazy eyes. But I'm kind of enjoying the energy of it now. Like when I see a deal on toys I'd make that face.

I especially like that the sprue had some alternative/wacky weapons, like the microphone nunchucks. 😂
if you preorder anything from walmart, have enough money to order several sets of 2...... and just return everything you dont want because orders will get cancelled etc and if you get 1 order to ship, you'll need at least 2 to make sure 1 of the 2 is in decent shape making it through delivery. ughhhhh walmart.

Great review my friend! I had a bad experience as well. Unfortunately Walmart cancelled my order on the Raphael. I was thinking about getting all 4 but man those prices were wild for each turtle. Plus they sold out really fast. I can't imagine how the aftermarket is on these.

It's a constant mess with them
There was so many screw ups with this event and it’s so strange to me. I experienced similar problems with the mailer bags and they only charged for one figure. Also, someone tampered with my Leo box. I guess someone at Playmates or Walmart wanted to see inside. It was double taped on the outer white box and the orange tmnt stickers were peeled back. The inner Leo box also was upside down.

The best part of the Walmart debacle is the coupon they give you for cancelling. Expires. Hahaha

I got the Leo figure at SDCC and it’s so damn cool. Considered getting the other three, but I was on a budget. At least I didn’t waste my money at Walmart.
Haha, yeah, but the upside is Walmart hasn't remembered to charge people back for the items. Mine was free and others only paid for 1 of 4 😂

I was lucky enough to pre order the Walmart Exclusive Marvel Legends Lizard off Walmart! But it came in a bag and my card was bent
Target did the same to me with my Gambit Retro card back. Who is dumb enough to think a bad is right?
I somehow managed to get all 4 of mine. I still haven't been charged. It just says due to price match its $0.00 LOL. Nothing on my CC either.

Your rant about Walmart reminds me of the great Transformers earthrise exclusive debacle of 2020, when many of Walmart exclusive Transformers figures had the same problem--it being a pain to actually place the dang preorder and said preorder getting cancelled for no reason whatsoever. What was worse was that it was very hard to find the figures at retail, they just never got them in stock, and the only way to get them were through scalpers. In that case it might have been Hasbro's fault though because the same thing happened with the Amazon exclusive figures that year too.

Is the only thing different about them from the normal release is that they got battle damage painting deco to them? I bought all 4 turtle normal releases for $10 each, but I think I'd would've wanted these more but $20 more than I what I paid for each. Not sure why would I need to keep them in the box because they don't have back deco, just an odd decision. I'm still good with the normal ones.
No battle damage on these but they did release the two packs that have damage and backdrops. But yes, the difference here is paint and the box
I ordered 4 Duplicos 1 min after it went up, next day they remove the total of my order and tell me is on review, but not cancelled. 3 days later my order is cancelled for lack of stock, tell me I will get my credit back in 10 days. After that I reach the chat and they tell me I was charged the full ammount by error and in 2 days ill get an email... that was 3 days ago. I finally decided to open a claim through PayPal.
They are so bad at this! Looking at my PayPal account I was charged immediately for all 4 and refunded right after (since they are preorder I guess). They never charged for this Mikey 😂
These are the first thing I’ve ordered from Walmart and Going thru the same thing. Ordered the set for $10-15 over retail and received a Donny exclusive and the other 3 arrived basic figures 😂

I didn’t participate in this event. However I get the issue. I bought tbs Bad Batch Rex and that was a total nightmare. Scalpers, buggy website, and the ability to buy 12 of the figs at once. I hate Walmart

As a Transformer collector, I LOATHE Walmart. So many pre-orders have been cancelled on me.
The amount of these on eBay now makes me extra angry. I can’t imagine going through this with a line as large as transformers

All of these are up for sale at a store in Australia called eb games which is pretty much just game stop I have no idea how they go them but there all for sale online and in store

I am just coming off of Duplico and Moss Man woes. Admittedly, I wanted Duplico for ironic zeitgeist-y reasons, but every Duplico I received in the mail came in a crushed bag, and I actually had to hunt Moss Man at physical stores at a high time/gasoline cost. But I refuse to pay scalpers! I would rather pay three times in gas costs than pay a scalper. "From hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit at thee"
I am happy to see that at least the condition of the box you received seemed to be okay for it being sent in an envelope.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed I am resigned to the fact that Walmart is optimized to sell diapers and inexpensive jeans so their systems and employees cannot handle collector purchasing.
Beyond that, I am not sure if the toy companies are looking for a guaranteed fee from Walmart/Target/Amazon when they assign exclusives to them OR if Walmart/Target/Amazon are exerting pressure on toy companies by requiring them to assign exclusives in exchange for preferential floor/site placement.

Large swaths of people hate the preorder model for Walmart. It’s inefficiency gets most at least once or twice. It’s as insane as insane can get how they handle inventory, notifications, fulfillment…It will never ever change. Walmart grabs the toy companies by their ovals and says give us exclusives or we aren’t giving you much shelf space. Walmart gets their thing to make people hunt and seethe. They laugh as they get their money from whomever. The toy companies appreciate the thousands and thousands of orders as they have to fill hundred of locations. I got to think they can’t be screwing over a big percentage of consumers, maybe 15%. As long as the margin is 85% or more satisfied customers at most times then they do not have to improve. Might be bigger 25/75…
It’s crazy. eBay is absolutely loaded with these now and I’m not even sure how scalpers were able to buy successfully

In all fairness the new paint on these things actually looks damn good to me. Shame they didn’t carry it over to the backside and that price is absolutely stupid for how basic the figure is. The standard ones are $10 and come with way more accessories. My little brothers love em and are more than happy without these variants.

Ugh hate Walmart, and hate preordering toys from Walmart and Target! Both suck and treat pre-orders with less importance than store stock. I'd say I have about a 50/50 record of getting my pre-ordered toys from both stores, which would *never* fly for anything other than toys and maybe electronics. As for this figure, he looks better than expected re: paint job.

It does stink that they didn’t do the back of the shells and heads, but I think they’re pretty neat overall. And yes Walmart is horrible.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed I did my own line work on a set already and did the shells of course. Don’t want to touch these, in case I decide to sell them. Feel like that wouldn’t help the sale. And I can’t match the digital tattooing they did on them.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Guess it was just them being cheap and figuring that if people were gonna display them, it was either going to be in that velvety, plastic shell, or forward facing. I think they look neat but you really have to be up on them to notice all the extra color and shading. Or maybe it’s just that my eyes are getting bad.

The back is such a disappointment but clearly one of those to keep in the box. I do like this new TMNT style, unique and very good and the artsy box makes it a good set all in all. Perfect? Not by any means, but it’ll do. I recently managed to order the set through a UK retailer but something tells me they are dodgy and I’ll have to dispute it with PayPal. Very likely they are selling the standard one in the fancy box, who knows. Or maybe it never arrives. I’ll have to wait and see.

Kept checking daily after SDCC and some dude did a review but wouldn't take the fig out of its fuzzy coffin. These additional iterations frighten me though. Do I wait for high end or stick with my price range... ByE!
I think this line will continue as the basic $10 options. They did some exclusives with previous iterations of the turtles, but pretty sure they only existed as that. I can't believe someone would bother to review it and not take it out of the black plastic! haha what a weird choice
I think you could make them yourself. I really don't like the way they're painted. Your's would more than likely be 10 times better and cost less. I've seen your art it's really good. I would love too see how they turn out.

Lol meanwhile on facebook groups, I've seen stories where they ordered these special versions and only got the basic set. And were still charged the full more expensive price.

Painting the shell would be pointless. Keep it in the box, shell is hidden, display on a shelf, shell is still hidden. If s kid plays with it, they don't care. Sucks Walmart did this to you. They canceled my WWE Superstars figures so many times. I did sezzle to pay in 4 and they canceled so I got the mo ey back on a gift card :( Walmart is trash 🗑

The art style/design for this movie has been one of my favorites I've seen in a long while, so I totally get why you wanted the boxes, if I could have gotten them at a decent price I would have as well. I hope they are making an artbook for the movie.
