Gina, that was great! I appreciate that you include personal stories. You gave me a lot to think about and I appreciated your reminder that self-awareness and self-understanding are meant to live in harmony with self-improvement and development.
Great teach, I always thought that If I could design myself than i would be far better what I am. But I can change myself a little can impact me to change my mechanism slowly.

The title of the talk was misleading. The talk is about how to adapt yourself so you're better received and perceived.

Autistics like me are usually very professional, but when we start to show our authenticity, people turn on us because it’s not the same as THEIR authenticity.
We need to practice learning what kinds of behaviors are actually “professional” and which ones are merely preferences. We also need to recognize that not every job requires people to butter up other people, so “people skills” don’t need to be at an all time high when you aren’t largely working with customers.
If you know any autistic people you probably see great authenticity in their behaviour, that they will not sacrifice their personal values for the sake of social acceptance.
Autistic people suffer when they pretend to be someone they're not, care about the things they don't actually care about, they are brutally honest with their opinions (negative or positive), autistic people see through the surface of social norms to see the real person, and more.
I can testify of this as I'm autistic myself, it is not easy to drive an autistic person off of their own track. I have sacrificed things of great value to me because I were not willing to sacrifice my value of respect to fit in to a group disobedient to rules and regulations.
Autistic people are naturally authentic and less vulnerable to peer pressure, I see those as gifts, not deficits.
As a person that grew up in the Southern United States it is so strange to me how certain accents need to be removed. I can somewhat understand for t v reporting and things like that, but I'm talking about for our corporate jobs. I work for a global company and have felt pressure to wipe away my accent. In my opinion, Southern accents cause us to be viewed as less competent. I can understand removing slang/jargon.
My true authentic self is someone that has a Southern twang to my words and at times it feels wrong to need to erase that.

It was a nice speech. But if this is what was most important, then it should be step one. Because without actually caring, it's not authenticity. Its just acting.
she should say both are important "why and how", just the nice gesture with bad intentions are not good things.
TEDx really needs to proof these talks, to edit out all the irrelevant personal stuff, be more informative, and get to the point. She’s nice, but moving on.
