I love that people use a registry now. So much nicer to know a gift is wanted and needed rather than one more in a pile.

I loved hearing your thought process as you went through the list, it helps as I'm strengthening my decision-making-muscle lol

We had a lovely, deluxe stroller, but by the time we started using it regularly (after about 9 months) we found it so big and clunky that we ended up going to Walmart and buying a cheap $25 compact stroller instead. Good call holding out. If you find later you need one, second hand is a good option.

That's what I was worried about. I don't have any fond memories of our previous stroller lol

Great decision about the Stroller- I used a cheap simple light umbrella stroller that I could open & close single handed.

I want to normalize some sort of “baby fund” like they do with honeymoons on wedding registries. I don’t have kids yet but I have worked many years in child care and watch my friends raise their kids. Every child (and family) is unique with different needs; to try to purchase and plan for every scenario is a giant waste of money and space. I think it would be helpful to get the basics like you have and then have a pool to help fund the things you ACTUALLY need when you actually need them.

That baby fund idea is a good one!

I always gift people money, only them know their needs better.

I don't know about baby registries, but my daughter got married 3 years ago and her online registry is still available. If they decide they don't want something, they can remove it. If they want something else, I encourage my daughter to add it, then when I want to buy them something I choose from the registry and if the weather is questionable (snow at my house) I have it sent to them instead of me.
I may be the only one that reads the registry, but that's okay with me.

Looks like you've found a system that works for you! Plus you get them gifts when you'd like that have meaning + intention 🙌

What is a baby registry? Dont know this concept...
I didnt buy a baby changing table when I got my child; however I had such a painful back because of the birth that I wasnt able to change diepers or anything like that as I wasnt able to bend over the child. Therefore, we ordered immediately one, which was a real relieve. I personally would always recommend one xD
We baught a chest of drawers with attachment- we took off the attachment and the chest is his "wardrobe". He can use it till he is older...

A baby registry is a "wish list" service offered by retailers (target, Walmart, Amazon, etc... They are completely independent and separate from each other, it just depends on where the buyer wants to shop). The mother puts (registers) wanted baby items thru this service to help people shop for her and baby. Once an item is purchased, the item is removed from the registry so no one else can buy it, it's super helpful. Today, it's super nice becuse like in my case, my family is spread out across multiple states so the easiest way for them to send me baby items is thru Amazon. They can shop my registry and it'll auto ship to my address.
