I’ve always loved a stone anything especially backsplash even before Joanna Gaines🤣I live in El Paso and I love our rock walls in our neighborhoods it looks so beautiful combined with our Mountains 💚It’s very unique here in El Paso. Can’t wait to see your backsplash.

My husband and I break ground in 3 days to build our forever home and I just told my husband this evening, that I want to do a brick or stone wall and backsplash in our new kitchen! Many have sent us suggestions on sealing, cleaning and maintenance. One friend says that using Eagle Natural Sealer allows it to have a matte finish but can be easier wiped down with soap and water. Thanks for watching Gail!
@@FarmhouseLiving Got to say this, there are several natural stone sealers out there that DO NOT stand up to cleaning. It might say "lasts for up to a year" on the bottle, but that is with light use and little to no cleaning. Even with mild soap and water, you could breech that sealant within months if not weeks. And with a matte finish, its hard to tell. The first sign you might have that your sealant failed would be the huge grease stain on your grout or stone. If you are wanting this look, I would suggest resealing every 3 months on high clean areas. Regardless, it is a very handsome look. But as someone who has natural stone in her kitchen, this look comes with high maintenance. So much so, I put in a 3x3 foot, large format tile behind the stove to end the cleaning headache .
Wish there were reviews and videos on just how to keep all that rough stone clean behind and around the stove. I cannot imagine trying to keep the oil, grease and food spatters that are going to get on all that textured rough stone and grout. I love this, but I cannot see that being practical unless you are going for a more primitive old look of the kitchens back in the day that kitchens looked like this. Which would mean that their would be many stains on that stone from cooking every day and most hours of the day. I am thinking over time we would just accept it as patina and character. LOL I do love the stone and/or brick walls in the kitchen and the fireplace.

I love how stone backsplash looks but how does it work with grease and cleaning?

Yes! She’ll go pretty similar but probably a little lighter grout so it flows well with the fireplace but not too matchy.
