Gichin Funakoshi often used this kata in his demonstrations that he performed in his mission in popularising karate in Japan. He stated that this kata contained all of the art’s essential elements.

In traditional karate style kanku dai has tobi nidan geri, but in kanku dai of kyokushin they took off
