The songs: Spoonman Let me drown Mailman The day I tried To Live My Wave Black Hole Sun Superunknown Fell on Black Days Head Down Limo Wreck Your request...
Love this song. For those asking, this took place in San Jose, CA, 06/03/1994. Kim once said that this is a waltz and I thought, f@ck, it is! really! Wow, takes a genius to compose such a badass heavy waltz!
@@mozdaboz Actually Music is composed by Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron, vocals and melodies by Cornell. Soundgarden wrote songs in almost all possible configurations. And I'm glad they did, so eclectic.
It's arguable which album from the 90's Seattle scene is the best, and it's mostly a matter of taste, I guess. But I would say that Superunkown is deifinitely the most interesting musically, most intricate, and most sophisticated among all of them.
i doubt young cornell is as narrow minded as most of you are. old cornell collaborating with timbaland took a lot of guts. you think cornell didn't know how people will react to this collab? guy ain't stupid. he knew the risks and yet he still took it. he is not afraid to step out of his comfort zone and explore. fyi, i am not a fan of scream but i give him major props for trying.
I remember an interview with Chris,(I think it was on MTV 1994) he talked 'bout this great song and he said somethin' like "it's one of my fav songs from superunknown cos it's very influenced of my fav band Black Sabbath(...)we tried to make something so dark, so raw, and the result was this song, yeh"
One of my favourites by Soundgarden as well. It's all about that killer riff! And the sound just drones on and on. Sound like....the impending doom or something.
It is a about a limo! In a 1995 interview Chris made clear that the inspiration for the song lyrics came to him when he saw a limo thrashed on a offroad somewhere, and he thought about the unvencible feeling that whoever owns a limo may feel, writing the lyrics about how deceitful that is... but he might have joked... I think it is about how fake and frail the feeling of power can be.
Chris Cornell is simply the best... and as long as he doesn't solo, Kim Thayil is god too. His grooves, riffs, and tone are untouchable, but his solos can be a messy jumble of notes at times.
I saw Kim in an interview one time saying that his solos are usually just improvisations, as he gets bored doing the same thing over and over. I'm with you though, I much prefer well crafted and meaningful solos over jumbles of notes (modern day Kirk Hammett I'm looking at you! ಠ_ಠ)
hehe I doint want to rub it in, but in '94 I was about 18 , and saw them on Lowlands festival in the Netherlands... I was high on LSD....was a great performance...they even played the Doors' Waiting for the sun
The tuning for this is the same for Mailman, tune the A so it's the 7th of the D (G) and basically, the bottom two strings are Drop C for D Std. and the rest is Estd
Someone may have already answered this somewhere in the last hundred comments, but where was this recorded? I saw them on this tour at the Armory in NYC, june '94. The air conditioning system broke in the venue and it was like 120 degrees in there - almost intolerable. The played great despite that and I remember going completely nuts during Rusty Cage, Jesus Christ Pose and Superunknown - great memory, wish I could see them again.
He's talked about that and he's commented on how he thinks it's interesting that current events can change interpretations on old songs and other art, but ultimately he dismissed that idea. I think it might just be a metaphor for a good thing coming to an end.
If this band EVER reunited, people would, I believe for the first time in recorded human history, do the very first global Simul-Crapping of their pants! I have a vision...this must happen lol
I look up these videos for the sole purpose of catching some of Matt's drumming, but I get so disappointed that EVERY ONE of them focuses on Matt for no more than 15 seconds throughout the whole thing. And he's the most fun to watch too.
i predict that there will be a rock revelution in a decade. the first since the beatles. And right then better music will be released. either that or itll get worse and rap and pop will evolve into something much bigger and worse.
Lol, Dude just have look at their old Interviews (written or filmed) and it shows how "narrow minded" he was. Man these days his wife tweets the Gucci Bag she wants from him. I guess Life is easier for blind Fanboys, isn't it?
The level of musicianship ,songwriting , and vocals of this man ....unmatched! Rest easy Chris.
Love this song. For those asking, this took place in San Jose, CA, 06/03/1994.

Is this at the Sharks Arena?
Apocalyptic opera waltz lol
Matt composed this song though not Kim

Props to whoever lugged an early 90s “portable” tape recorder into the show to get this!
they weren't so big at all actually
one of my favourites on the Superunknown album
cold bitch, limo wreck and 4th of july are my absolute favs since '94...
For me the best song from soundgarden and one of my personal top10 ever. I cant imagine how often I listend to this and it always gives me a shiver

Extremely underrated Soundgarden song, the last 2 minutes are brilliant.
That's the same shirt he wore in the Black Hole Sun music vid. :D
His hair looks sorta weird here.
Eerie song, creepy riff, scary lyrics. An outstanding job by Soundgarden, not a doubt. Love it!
strong voices he got yeah
Unreal performance! Love this song so much 🤘🏽🖤
i agree - one of the best songs on this amazing album
Damn Soundgarden was amazing. I love this track. All of Superunknown blows me away to this day.
All I can say is i bought superunknown thirteen years back and it still blows my mind to this day the more you listen the better it gets
I'd seen Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains in a 3-month period back in '93. Only one I missed was Soundgarden. BIG bucket list check for me.
evanisovich hope you got that checked off brother
@@jeremyviromek I was going to say the same thing. I never got to, unfortunately :( RIP Chris.
Hopefully you checked SG from your list! I saw them back in 2014... They were truly amazing.
This album is so incredible, best of the 90's!
soundgarden, the masters of open tuning and time changes.

Presuming others are narrow minded isn’t narrow minded? 👀
Perfection.
Just wondering who the one idiot was who disliked this amazing performance? Haters gonna hate!
+Chris Kelly
I disliked it. Too loud on my ears!
The first thing I question when I open this vid
@@therealgman4321 then don’t listen to it 😑

What a voice. Awesome song. Hope to see this song live in the near future.
I just love this song, thanks for the vid...
Brilliant performance.
One and only
Is it just me, or did Cornell predict 9/11?
Building the towers
Belongs to the sky
When the whole thing
Comes crashing down
Don't ask me why
My favorite song of Soundgarden.

Now you can watch "The day I tried to live". Enjoy!

Soundtallica in Chains Kim's solo's are a mess or Chris's are? I'm confused here (chris doesn't solo)

Um ladies and gentleman, the lyrics were written by Chris.
awesome song

fuck thanx for this!!!!!
soundgarden es la mejor banda de la historia lejos
I would like to know what this Chris Cornell would say about Timberland Cornell!

@pearljamporch Heres the tunning (from low to high) CGDGBE
Hope it helps you.
@securitysystem second that!!!
@drebinable
isn't that a 3/8?
kim were you at!
hands down my fav song off the album! and Matt wrote it!! hey it's better than Cropduster...
enne ik heb ze 3 keer gezien
No , 4th of july was played in 95 and in one or two shows in 96 but never in 94
Date?
Blood Mountain is fucking great, I can see a slight resemblance with this riff and Sleeping Giant.
Somebody noticed that in this show they only played Superunknown songs. Why?
Manuel Balderas I have this on VHS, they played badmotorfinger songs as well
this is so unfair....i soooo grew up in the wrong country.....
okay what happen from here doesn't matter.
really odd that they'd close the show with such an ominous song...
princess diana
The main riff in this song reminds me a little bit of Mastodon's "Sleeping Giant".
Awesome song....
song
Must be 1994 or 1995.
Chris's voice is powerful but it's very pitchy here...
This song is a bitch to sing
Tyvonix72 watch the guitar center one from 2014, doesn't get better than that
I've watched that one before and that is a good one! It's ironic how his pitch got better in his later years...R.I.P. To him
Tyvonix72 yea like everyone there's off nights. but his off nights would still wet my gfs panties. RIP
maybe wrong time-not wrong country...

Lol, Dude just have look at their old Interviews (written or filmed) and it shows how "narrow minded" he was. Man these days his wife tweets the Gucci Bag she wants from him. I guess Life is easier for blind Fanboys, isn't it?
Jerry Cantrell - the master of bending strings/vibrato, and Jim Root - the master of pinch harmonics. :P
ummmm k
