Lovely work, Ste. Happy to see that you went back to these, and glad to have been of some inspiration! Thank you for linking out to my videos and the kind words. Love how much you’ve filled the bases with foliage, I might need to follow suit there.
Cheers Duncan and absolutely inspiration! I think projects like these really demonstrate that you can create some interesting basing ideas that still allow you to play the game 😃👍
Cheers mate! Absolutely agree with you there. I'm currently using the Xenos Rampant rules to build a few forces using my old GE stuff, a great way of using figures I'd never normally use 😃👍
For expanding the army I'd mix in some metals, either those by the Perry's themselves, or another companies, like Forlorn Hope Games, as pretty much any War of the Roses range will fit in with the Hundred Year Wars stuff (ironically because both conflicts crossed over into each other's timeframe). As for gaming, well, there's obviously Lion Rampant, there's also SAGA and Never Mind The Bill Hooks, while Warlord Games Pike & Shotte does have a Tudor Wars era block in it's rulebook.
Thanks Darren, these are some great suggestions, much appreciated! I've bee looking at quite a few rules to see what I can use these for. Whether the basing will transfer across, I'm not sure but I'm looking forward starting out with Lion Rampant 😃👍
Cheers Darrin, definitely agree with you here. I think sometimes just painting something completely different works wonders for keeping interest in the hobby 😃
Thank you! I'd always seen Lion Rampant as a single based game due to the size and type of game. Duncan's video really got me thinking though and it reflects the smaller actions of Lion Rampant rather than huge battles or engagements 😃👍
Hope you don't mind the following suggestion. If using Lion Rampant, recommend using more of a 3-2-1 basing system for being able to pull casualties for Lion Rampant. Don't worry about what is already done, but instead do some more! As an example, with the 4 bases of 3 archers each, that's enough for turning into two archer units by keeping 2 bases of 3 archers each for each unit, and then doing up two bases (slightly smaller than the bases used for 3 figures) of 2 archers each, and also 2 bases (smallest bases for a single figure each) of 1 archer each for each of the units to have 12 total figures. Then turn the 2 bases of 3 men-at-arms into units of 6 figures each for elite or 12 figures for a heavy, maybe even one of each, or even better two units of either. Knights on horse could be turned into a full cav unit of 6 by basing 2 figures on one base with 1 on a single base (although having two units of 6 for these could be good). The crossbowmen could be turned into a full unit of 12 crossbowmen with two bases of 2 and two bases of 1. This kind of mix of units will probably provide everything you need to make any of the three English armies shown in the rules, Early English, Later English, and Wars of the Roses, plus give a full crossbow unit, too. This also prepares for expanding into some of the other army list options provided in the rules as well. Hope that makes sense and is helpful, cheers! 😎👍
Interesting ... had a reply show up under the bell in the upper left corner of the software about how a single figure or base could represent the whole unit, or even a half unit, which is true, although I didn't see the reply listed when returning to the video. It makes me wonder if those comments were deleted, yet I can still see them, or if even my comments are being seen, perhaps deleted for most, but less offensive by the software. There's a certain sense of dehumanizing if and when people are treated as just a thing. Hope On Point HQ enjoyed my comments intended in a community/relational building way. And by the way, I liked seeing your painted figures and the basing, wonderful, congrats!🙂🥂
This is brilliant, cheers Mark and it makes a lot of sense! With the current basing I was going to use tokens or a bit of housekeeping to track casualties but this is definitely something I'm going to look into. Plus I think the armies would look great on the tabletop like this. Thanks again! 😃👍
really attractive results, Ste. Where did you get those "bushy" bits for the bases? They look far better tank usual grass tufts and i would love to get some.
Cheers Gary! Pretty much all of the tufts etc on these bases are from the big box from Warpainter that you can pick up on Amazon. A great source for a random selection of tufts 😃👍
Thanks Nick! My main source for tufts and basing materials are the big boxes from Warpainter on Amazon. They are all random but they are great value for money and you always get an interesting selection of tufts 😃👍
They look great Ste. Maybe just a plain cross of St George for the English and maybe a cross of Picardie for the French (red flag wit white cross). Just keep it simple mate.
Great work. The kitbash of the Lord is really good. Changing the head really make him looks like a Lord. Well done👍
Cheers Nic! I was experimenting with different kinds of heads for this chap and when I saw the Bolt Action head it just seemed like a natural fit 😃👍

How about just going with the Plantagenet coat of arms on the flag given the colours?
That's a great suggestion, cheers Tony 😃👍
Great looking figures - and that mix of basing effects is great, too!
That's awesome, cheers Will! I thought with basing this size it would give me the opportunity to be quite creative with the bases 😃👍
Welcome to the dancing hands. Some very well painted figures Ste, well done.
Thanks Leslie and aye, a return to form. Finding these has really made we want to finish the French force now 😃
Wonderful painting (love the crossbowmen!) and basing, truly superb!!
Thanks Phil! I really like how these look based this way. I'll definitely have to finish the French army next 😃👍
Great video ste I do love your basing. No advice on flags etc. just paint more they are awesome 👏
Cheers Andy, I definitely want to finish the French force for this 😃👍
The simple livery colours look really well and the bases are fantastic.
Thanks Roger! It's the first time I've ever really painted anything like this so wanted to keep it simple. Very happy with how they turned out 😃👍
Looks great dude !! the rampant games are one of my favorite systems as its just really flexible !
Cheers mate! Absolutely agree with you there. I'm currently using the Xenos Rampant rules to build a few forces using my old GE stuff, a great way of using figures I'd never normally use 😃👍
They look great, thanks for the video!
Cheers and thank you for taking the time to watch, much appreciated 😃👍
looking good. i really love the bases. i've done my lion rampant on individual bases, 15mm figures, so i can use them for multiple systems.
Thanks Jason! I actually think 15mm is such a versatile scale. We've got plans for later this of starting Pikeman's Lament at 15mm 😃

@@OnPointHQ SAGA uses single figures like Lion Rampant, while Billhooks and Pike & Shotte uses Singles or Multi Based groups (or a mix of both) IIRC.
Did wonder what happened to these. Great work as always.
Cheers Steve! I think I packed them away when I started on my Bolt Action DAK and just completely forgot about them 😃
they look awesome mate yes it's refreshing to do something you usually dont do
Cheers Darrin, definitely agree with you here. I think sometimes just painting something completely different works wonders for keeping interest in the hobby 😃
These look lovely there Ste. I'm glad that guy was missing an arm, I was worried about my eyesight for a moment hahaha.
As always locely work
Cheers Cal, strangely I didn't even notice the missing arm until I started recording the video 😅
beautifully painted!
Thank you! These are my first real go at medieval wargaming painting so I was pretty happy with how they turned out 😃
Nice looking army ste, I really like the colours you used 👍
Cheers buddy! I really wasn't sure what colours to use but eventually settled on the red and blue as I thought they'd work quite well together 😃
Nice, They do look good with the round bases as skirmishes, instead of the regimented look of square bases
Thank you! I'd always seen Lion Rampant as a single based game due to the size and type of game. Duncan's video really got me thinking though and it reflects the smaller actions of Lion Rampant rather than huge battles or engagements 😃👍
Cross of St George would be a good fit mate. Should be one in the box too!
Ahhh yes, I never thought of something like that! Time to track down the flags 😃👍
Good vid Ste. I do like a bit of Lion Rampant 👍
Thanks Fraser! Yes, I've seen some of your Lion Rampant projects and they look awesome 😃👍

Wow you have done a fantastic job on them Ste 😁👍
Cheers mate, much appreciated! I can't believe I actually forgot that I painted them in the first place 😅
They look great Ste. 👍
Cheers Jim! Not my normal kind of project but these were a lot of fun to work on 😃👍
Looking good.
Thank you, much appreciated 😃👍
Most excellent stuff ste
Cheers Justin! Not something that I would normally paint but I remember it was certainly a nice break from painting my usual stuff 😃
Really good!
Thanks Shaun, much appreciated 😃👍

very nice - where do you go for your basing shrubs ste

@@OnPointHQ cheers bud

Cheers Paul, much appreciated mate. Aye, the cross of St George does appear to be a popular idea so definitely something I'm going to look into 😃👍
Nice mate, great to see you not muller them 😂. As Paul says a St George flag would be good
Cheers Dom, I did have to resist the urge to splatter them with tufts and mud! I'll definitely look at the St George flag 😃👍
