Some of the things that police officers do, if regular citizens do it they are arrested immediately. The law should be no different for police officers. Or anyone. Including the rich and politicans.

Two parts of the problem: 1) Supreme Court decisions that basically make police gods and 2) the police unions.

One of my sons is very “white” and my other son looks Aboriginal. I constantly worry about his safety. He also has an intellectual disability so cannot talk very well . He is so vulnerable. My only comfort is that he is always with an adult carer, myself or his brother to be able to advocate for him.

I really hope it continues. As a white dude, like Klara, I really feel like I'm getting some insight that I didn't possess before. It's been enormously helpful as, even though I see everyone, regardless of creed or colour or sexuality or _whatever_ , as a brother or sister, I still need to go over the way I think and examine whether I have unhelpful tenets. I love all my fellow humans like family, but maybe that's not enough right now.
As horrible as it is to say out loud, this tragedy has made possible a chance for real change, and the opportunity to end African-Americans' suffering and fear once and for all. I sincerely hope together, we can put a stop to this disgusting state of affairs forever, so that no black family (or any other minority family for that matter) ever has to coach their children on how to avoid being murdered by the institution that's supposed to protect them, ever again. So that our goddamn fellow humans can feel as safe as we feel around cops. It's really not much to ask. And who knows: maybe within a generation that's not raised in an environment of fear for once, black and ethnic minorities might flourish and feel safe to branch out into social and professional spheres they once were rightly afraid of due to discrimination.
The world is everyone's playground, and I hope with all my heart that now, FINALLY, it might actually be accessible to us all.
P.S. I'm sorry if anything I wrote is callous or sycophantic to you, I genuinely feel this way; I'm an idealist and egalitarian. I know sometimes stuff I say seems whimsical or just stupid to some people. If I offended you, I'm genuinely sorry.

She is right though,There are three key ways that Trump’s Department of Justice has eroded or outright dismantled checks on abusive police departments in the past 3½ years: First, it has all but ended the Barack Obama-era practice of placing police departments that violate constitutional rights under court-supervised consent decrees. These court-monitored settlements have, according to experts, offered some deterrent to police chiefs who do not want to see their departments placed under federal supervision. Second, it ended a voluntary federal-state collaborative reform program, over the opposition of police chiefs-including Republicans-who embraced the initiative. Finally, it reversed limits on a program that has provided billions of dollars of military-grade vehicles and weapons-such as grenade launchers and bayonets-to local police departments. These reforms were either introduced or escalated in response to the police killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014 and the subsequent heavily armed police crackdown on Black Lives Matter protests. As soon as he took office, Trump has undone them one by one.

She told the protestors to go home and stay home. She shouted at the protestors for exercising their right to protest. And here she is saying that she had NO IDEA what she was going to say when she stepped up to the mic. She’s a mama like me and I’m sure she wants to keep her kids and community safe but at some point, we HAVE to do something. “Riots are the language of the unheard.” MLK. We cannot shame people for protesting.

When I served in the Army, my life was in the hands of black, brown, red, yellow and white toned people. We were friends, we were combatants, we were Comrades at arms and we had each others 6 when the hammer slammed the anvil. We trained, we sweated and we bled together. We came together from all parts of the country; we came together from all religions. We were a society unto ourselves.
We worked as a team, a well oiled machine. We fought for our brothers through thick and thin. We protected each other, that was what we did. The only color we saw was Army Green .....
Copying and pasting for a friend: Would two friends be willing to copy and repost this simple reminder?
RACISM IS NEVER OK and should never be tolerated. And still today I would stand and fight beside those same soldiers of all races I call my brothers, nothing has changed or will ever change!! God bless! Stay strong, stay safe!!
Just two. Any two. Say done
