"So I went back in and had another sandwich" ROFLMAO!
😂 that was priceless
The most anticipated teardown in years.
..... 🤤🤤🤤
This is the kind of stuff that's so special to see on UA-cam - thanks for doing it!!
Will we ever get a CYBER-VAN? Will we ever get the submersible tesla promised (at least as an option?) ... Will we ever get the $20000 Tesla with comfy 4 seats, and hatch-back?
(P.S. Protective Wrap should be a factory option for all cars, but in special for the CyberTruck.)
@@Narinjas cold-rolled stainless steel doesn't need protection... the rest of your comment is equally dumb
What’s special? Munro is a shill for Tesla. Rarely does he have anything ill to say about their products. Cyber is purely an exercise in futility. 100k toy for rich folks and UA-cam stars.
@Jessev741 what do you mean the bare stainless doesn't need PPF 😂 FYI - for those that don't know, PPF, "Paint Protection Film" "Protective Wrap" is used to protect the PAINT from stone chips and scratches.
Going to love watching tear down of a truck 99% of the population can’t afford. A truck that’s horrible for road infrastructure, and dangerous to anyone else not driving a tank.
You know what’s great? Using science and engineering to solve problems and not create entirely new ones.
This is the official teardown that I’ve been waiting for. Real engineers breaking down a vehicle.
100%
Have been waiting so long for Monroes feedback on the Cybertruck!
Real businessmen asking for money
You saw it torn down? Sandy Munro does not hold any college degree. He began as a tool and die maker (tech). He knows a lot from seeing things over the years, but was never an automotive designer or analyst.
@@sophiegrisomYou don't need a degree to know what you're talking about. It helps in some cases, but is not mandatory.
I have no doubt, the tear down of this machine will SMASH all viewing records for the Munro channel.
I'll be watching every minute of it.
Can't wait!!
This is one for the ages!
Can't wait!!! 🎉
I want to see that 48v system and how the wiring looks.
Simpler, more reliable.l
(Sandy will be *All over* that)
Lol you are so clueless, it literally does not make any real-life difference for the customers of this big vehicle, it is just there to impress naive fanboys without any deeper technological knowledge.
No way they will ever get that awesome monster back together again. They won't even try.
@@Aztasu Naive fanboys? you must be one since you're here
@@Aztasuso it doesn’t reduce wiring/ power consumption/complexity and more ?right lol
Sandy !!! I remember the days of old. Your tear downs were brutally honest. Please, I hope you don't let your friendship with Elon get in the way of your honest opinion.
His shilling for the Tesla is unbearable.
It's finally time. This is going to be an awesome series.
I'm a fan and my order's in process, so please don't take this as a desire for negativity toward Tesla, but I really hope you're critical and not biased toward being complimentary in the evaluation or review. The best thing you've ever done for the Tesla community was sharing honest criticism of the things they did wrong on M3, and I really hope you call them on any weaknesses in CT. They will make it better faster if it's called out, and that's the best outcome.
Sandy Munro is one big old Tesla shill.
It’s going to be hard for them to not please Elon with negative comments .
I was thinking he said that the truck is big it’s not any bigger Than a full size Ram,Ford,Chevrolet or G M C it’s just the visibility is poor all around just to prove it he hit a friggin wall when he was backing up with cameras mind you obviously Tesla doesn’t put any parking sensors it saves them money and the rear view mirror is so small and the truck has no rearward visibility when the cover is closed they couldn’t engineer a rear view mirror/camera like many manufacturers had for years now.
Absolutely- and while I’m pretty sure Sandy will stay true to form and rant about anything he doesn’t like, seeing him wear that shirt concerns me we’re entering unapologetic fanboy territory with this one…
If you've seen his Model Y teardown and the interviews Sandy did with Elon, you'll know he's pretty blunt about things he doesn't like, and Elon definitely appreciates that.
This will be a good one! Thanks to all at Munro, the most goodies involved too. Nice.
Can't wait for the teardown, Bottle openers made from the actual cybertruck would sell like hot cakes
Yes, and also thought that Tesla could sell the stainless steel pieces that result from cutting the truck doors, hood, etc, as it seems of very good quality and it would be very helpful for lots of proyects 👏👏
lame!!!
I think its over-rated and not practical.
@@deltajohnny Yea, but you can just get stainless steel sheets at the local welding shop.
@@tripplefives1402 Yes, but I mentioned it because this stainless steel seems to have special characteristics? I think that the ones that I use with this thickness are not bulletproof 👍👍
As a retired engineer I really appreciate the depth, detail and design analysis. Looking forward to all your future videos, keep up the great work. 👍
this tear down video will break the internet. musk are you watching this sandy munroe is planing to tear down cyber truck.

Well spoken communicator.
You have no clue how much he makes as it is. why do you think he needs a raise?
SANDY.
Can we have a repeat of the Mach-E vs Tesla cooling episode, but comparing the CT vs Lightning wiring loom? 😁
I would rather not beat too much on Ford. They need to survive long enough to get their next generation of EVs from the skunk works out. Hard not to see how the new system on the CT will not make the Ford look worse than it is.
When I opened my app, this was the first thing I saw and I clicked on it so fast... been waiting four years for this
Looking forward to Munro Live tear down of this beast....Go Sandy!
Jordan is a natural, very good on camera incredibly knowledgeable and speaks with a rhythm and genuine confidence and clarity
Jordan is great
Watching Sandy and his guys tear apart a model 3 is what brought me to follow Munro Live in the first place. I’m older than Sandy. . . and excited to be able to learn from him.
Regarding panel gaps. . . I remember accidentally slamming the hatch of my 1974 Hornet Hatchback on my son ‘S finger. Some screaming, from fear, but absolutely no damage to him.
I woke up this morning with the cybertruck tear down and starship third test flight. Thank you! Life can't be better than this.
And FSD12.3 looks to be a major update. Heck of a day for sure.
@pwells10 Oh, I don't have a Tesla yet, but I will get the new Highland or Juniper next year. Can't wait!

*You haven't yet begun to tear it down and already I'm crying.* 😢😢😭😭
The tear down is going to be a feast. I think the guys at Tesla respect Sandy enormously and I am 100% sure that everyone involved with Cybertruck development will be watching the Munro tear down in the hopes of blowing his mind.
Unsure why it being an enthusiast truck doesn’t mean it can’t be a great work truck.
Seats 5. Huge lockable storage. More power output. Less worried about dents and paint damage.
He keeps saying it's not a work truck but I never get to here why he thinks that. Higher payload, more durable, larger bed. I see no reason to say it's not equal to or better than the f150 lightning as a work truck
yeah, I just don't see that either. Seems to me like the best work truck ever. I see a lot of F150 (and similar) contractors trucks that have 100's of little (and big) dents, dings and scratches in no time. Air suspension with auto levelling is a great "work" feature too. On the reverse side, the fact that there is no access from interior to rear vault area, makes it less than ideal as a "sport" truck. I'd love to hear from Sandy the "why" not the best work truck?
@dbmiller5881 unfortunately I'm fairly confident that Sandy doesn't have any objective reasoning for this statement. I have a feeling it's because of the unique look and that alone.
I am pretty sure it is because of the reach in from the side issue. Many work trucks have a toolbox reachable from the side. I am almost certain this is the reason and why most people I have heard say its not a work truck is because of that issue. I will say, that I will miss that particular aspect of my current truck when I eventually get one of these (eventually.....)
Maybe it's price? Right now the cheapest one is 99k. Basically are paying 20k for FSD and founders stuff. I got the email, but it's hard for me to justify paying that much extra for things I don't need right now. I also haven't bought FSD on any of Teslas we've owned though.
The angle in the bed corners will also make it easier to attach a ratchet strap.
I'll be curious to hear how Sandy likes/compares/contrasts this against his Rivian R1T as well as the Ford F150 Lightning.
why does everyone comment on the size of the truck...? this is a normal sized truck, perhaps a little small. it might look, or feel big, but dimensionally its got nothing on a crew cab long box dually.....
Yup.
Yeah, for sure. I sat in one a few weeks ago, it doesn’t feel as big as my f150.
@@kestrelglassingsystems6704 It is shorter than a crew cab F150 with a 4 foot bed.
This isn't any more a truck than the Chevrolet El Camino, Ford Ranchero or Subaru Brat was a truck. Simply having a bed is not the definition of a truck and an F150 or RAM 1500 has a larger bed (both of which are actual trucks).
@@bbaz6729 They are available with longer beds, but my F150 (in the most common trim and still obviously a truck) has the 5.5' bed. And, genuinely curious why you think based on objective specs the F150 and the Ram 1500 are actual trucks ad this isn't? I own an F150 (for 12 years), and I've spent some time messing with the CT. Other than the back seat being a little larger in the F150, there's no significant form/function difference. Meaning Pretty much anythign I can put in my F150 will also go into a CT. The other specs are similar: towing (same), payload(favors CT). The CT is undoubtedly tougher on the skins than my truck, at least for dents and scratches. Both seem capable enough off-road, and CT would have had more ground clearance on the trail that ripped off the skid plate on my F150 FX4 last year. Honestly, not trying to be snarky, what makes the CT not a truck by your definition? I'm really curious about other truck users perspectives here. Is a ladder frame triple box design fundamental if it can accomplish the same tasks? Thoughts on the F150 Lightning?
Can't wait to see the first looks and insights by the various Munro industry experts

I drive a ford f 150 4x4 every day for work. I am six ft tall and use a step stool to access the bed and carry a pole with a hook to grab things that move. All full size trucks need creative was to make them user friendly
Been saying that so long I am tired of doing so. Since trucks went from F100 to F150 just forget about reaching into the bed of a 4x4. And the CT falls between the two.
Can't wait for more.
Wasn't there supposed to be a built in loading ramp? That was a big advantage that seems to be missing.
This is what we are all subbed for. Can’t wait! 😍

Please let us know. If at all the cybertruck exterior panels were made as a traditional truck, would that make the truck heavier or lighter keeping the overall truck structural stiffness same. Does the exterior SS panels really contributing to structural stiffness.
It would be lighter and less stiff.
Which truck is heavier? The lightning or cybertruck?
They weigh about the same however the lightning is 9" longerr and 7 inches taller.
@@larryspiller15
There is one of the vids in the Tesla factory. It may have been with Cory. The engineer said how much stiffer the rear sail makes the truck bed and how much the front fender contributes to the crush. Sounds structural to me.
Replace the exterior work hardened SS with mild steel and the castings would have to be made heavier to keep the same stiffness. However this truck is so incredible stiff it would still be serviceable. Just not as tough. Why the quest to prove Elon was a fool to use this material? Or is the goal to show that he lied? Tesla gave us a pickup that breaks the mold. That is a GOOD thing. Elon being human has real faults. You don't need to make this good thing look bad. Celebrate it. My apple gee's if I misread you intention. It happens.
For the vertically challenged, use the wheel as a step up to the side of the load.
My favorite type of series from Munro Live! Looking forward to Carl on the interior.
Really, the analysis from everyone at Munro on the engineering/manufacturing process of these vehicles is unparalleled.
Thanks!

His voice cracks when he is so excited lol
9:43 drop it to entry mode height, that will help. And step up on the tire if needed, or the plastic trim that juts out near the tires.
Aesthetics aside, my problem with CYBRTRK has always been that I don't find it to be a particularly practical Ute in terms of work truck usage. Sandy & Jordan's comments reflect this. Having said this, again it's a case of right tool for the right job for the right person - I'm just not that person. I much prefer the Ford Lightening F-150 even if it is (still) far too big; you don't need a tank to get the job done. 😊
I believe this is dimensionally *smaller* than the F150 on the outside.
.
For a work truck...
The bed is 150mm(?) longer.
It has the tonneau for security.
How about a bed slide-out?
Then you instantly get the easy access*plus* the security of everything covered?
exactly! the ford lightning is the best shape or design to ever existed for actual work! look at the toyota hilux, in Thailand they convert the bed to dump truck, upgrades the suspensions and make it move up to 5 tons of rice from the farm to storage.... nothing will ever equal that!
@alanmay7929 The importance of the ability to (easily) side load into the bed of a Ute can't be overlooked. When doing (a lot) of loading, having to walk those extra few steps to and from the back of the bed is both exhausting and a time waster over the course of the day; you can't always back directly into where you want to load from. I really think Jordan can be excused for the challenge as he puts it, 'of being vertically challenged', as tall, short, or anywhere in between, just looking at the high sides of CYBRTRK makes my shoulders and neck ache madly.
The cybertruck has a larger bed, more ground clearance, and more durable body and glass when compared to the f150 lightning. What exactly does the lightning do better?
@pinkelephants1421 side loading gets you in trouble by any respectable tradesmen. You will scratch the paint. If the item is small you put it in the cab or towards the end of the box.
Yes! Take it apart and make it better. Loves these breakdowns and analysis.
Can't wait! I hope it's very detailed like your other teardowns. I'm hoping for 20 30 minute episodes!
How did they pass the pedestrian safety tests. That front has some sharp creases.
AMERICA.
The biggest issue for pedestrian safety is the height. In that respect, many other trucks are much worse.
The breakdown of the impact scenario will be very much anticipated.
It would have been really great if they had built in a midgate that folds down like an Avalanche.
then CT would NOT be water tight.
CT has scuba system for Battery pack.
Midgates are a major structural problem. The Avalanche was body on frame, every other unibody pickup hasn't had a midgate for that very reason... structural rigidity just isn't there, especially if you want a meaningful amount of payload/towing
@@Black-Villain Didn’t say it would be easy.
@@Black-Villain Agree. At times on does what is best for the design.
Sandy's comment on kids loving CT cannot be underestimated! Those little kids today will be the Tesla owners of tomorrow. This vehicle with its simplistic lines speaks directly to them.
I can't imagine how excited Sandy must be for this. He's waited yearsss
I am really looking forward to this series. I bought my Y LR based on all of the videos of you tearing apart the earlier ones. Sandy and my step-dad would have been like brothers, only my version had a British accent. Thanks for the excellent engineering insights and I really enjoy how you present it as well.
For me, it's crucial to check whether this car has the announced exoskeleton. I'm afraid these flat panels are attached to a regular steel body.
Videos from the factory shows the cybertruck frame is regular stamped mild steel with some very large aluminium castings, not as large as the model 3 or y mind you, then the hard stainless steel external panels.Interviews with tesla have also confirmed the internal frame is steel, they didnt specify what grade, but likely its mild with some areas hardened depending whats needs for crash worthiness.
Yeap, it may have some structurral involment.
The problem is that few people bother to understand what an exeskeleton is. As I understand it for the purposes of vehicles so long as the skin plays a part in the structure it is an exoskeleton. But forget that. What ELon said is they were going to move some of the weight from the frame to the outside to build a tough truck. They did that. Then they figured out they could reduce the wight of that skin by work hardening the 1.4mm stainless. So unless you goal is to prove Elon lied, not allowed to change, you now know all you need to know about the the exoskeleton issue.
@@Marc83Aus Sort of close. The cabin sides are constructed of ultra high strength hot stamped boron steel. As do BMW and Mercedes Benz. This is where the similarity with a regular unibody or body on frame truck ends. The front and rear castings bolt to the cabin. The casting provide the mounting points for the body, motors, gear reduction and suspension. The aluminum casting have the crush zones engineered into them. No steel needed. A casting gives the designer more control over shape and cross section so works well for this.
Tesla has some very good materials science people. They use what is best suited.

Still have to disagree with Sandy constantly saying this isn't a work truck. That is only currently true due to the price. Being from the trades and talking to other guys who work in the field, I can say that many of them would love to have this as a work truck, where they can easily lock their tools in the back and don't have to worry about scratches and dents.
It's not a work truck. One big challenge will be repair. Most work trucks can be repaired at most within a few days.
i strongly disagree with you too, work trucks are made to be super practical and versatile from offering single to double cab to different bed lenghts to different load carying capacity.... the bed can very easily be removed or modified to add equipments, the frame is tougher to mount equipments..... look at the ford f250, f350... they have third wheel option, dually options....
a conventional truck can be have the bed removed to install a dump truck, a crane, utility bed, conversion to ambulance, bus, RV..... the cybertruck is a joke compared to a real truck! i mean even 6x6 conversions are possible with the amazing solid axles... even mercedes Sprinter vans have the ability to mount a crane.
@alanmay7929 nobody does all that to a half- ton pickup, be it F150 or Cybertruck.
@@jamesengland7461 the point is the fan bois want to claim the Cybertruck is going to replace all trucks everywhere and everyone else will be bankrupt within a few years.

Been waiting for this for years!
Good video, btw, Cory was a good guy on the videos, but Jordan is much more relatable, like Sandy, especially as an engineer! Love you guys…
A truck is for putting things in, moving them, and getting them out. You cannot put things in from the sides. It is too tall. You could throw things in. Then when you want to get something out, you cannot because the sides are too tall. You must crawl in from the back and the bed height is too high. There are no steps to be able to climb in. The bin is too far in to reach without climbing in. This is a poorly designed truck. It is like a bunch of city kids wanted to design one but had never actually used one to go into the backcountry or get work done.
