    Self-reloading decoy launchers are a great option for brawler destroyers on high-pcu severs.

    At the moment (as far as the Outlands ruleset is concerned), I'd say the "ideal" destroyer loadout would be a 400mm with the remaining weapon points being spent on 220/150's. As long as turret AI can't effectively work as PD, there's not much reason to focus on gatling-type weapons.
    Imo, the Rider's (relative) success in their latest battle wasn't due to their usage of fleet destroyers, but rather due to them successfully managing to isolate KE ships at multiple points during the battle. Even though they lost 2 ships to none, their overall performance was an improvement over the fight before (the one were they traded 1-1), and is proof that their training sessions have been paying off.

      for sure; all wins are multi faceted. But it's a good example of a doctrinal victory.
      Rider/CDF destroyers cannot tango with KE destroyers in a brawl type engagement. Thus their refusal to play that game until they had a leg up helped them out

    I would use destroyers as ambush vessels with decent forward firepower. Have them attack single weapon or main engine and retreat. Have them to slowdown enemies or simple hangout just out of reach of more accurate weapons and only engage when enemy is distructed. think about how wolfs or heynas weardown target before going for the kill.

      After having played vanilla pvp now for a time and getting myself up to date, I will say make sure to apply this and these tactics only to his modded server that follow his specific block limits and weapon profiles. This is absolutely not how vanilla SE pvp operates, and it's not the role a destroyer operates in vanilla. Currently, the meta of SE pvp destroyer class vessels is the complete destruction of larger vessels, as a cheap, hard hitting first strike option, often feature axial mounted rails for first strike alpha, with interwoven axial artilleries as mainstays. If they have any pdc at all, it will be a small handfull of gats, usually however destroyers will have a few superfiring arties due to their 2km range once you lock target and the fact missiles are obsolete in vanilla and thus, if you see them, a destroyer can easily dodge them.
      The reason HE weapons are obsolete in the current warfare II meta, not only due to the fact it's easy for pdc to end the threat, but because they take too long to make a kill, and their range is abysmal. When pvp in vanilla means death due to one rail taken down the keel of your ship that ripped through all your internals at 2km range, you don't wanna waste time hull sweeping.
      Current destroyer designs favor sloped armor to make use of the new weapon mechanics to redirect shots away from internals, and as aggressive a thrust profile as they can manage to dodge shots. Their job is to strike first and end higher PSU opponents before the fight begins by sending an axial volley of rails through something explosive. But workhorses of a fleet that can, and will end cruisers with ease. Their benefit is low PSU, cheap operational costs and ease of manufacture coupled with the ability to end anything not using modded gyros and thrusters in a heartbeat. Once we start talking about mods though, the rules change...but the value of warfare II weapons, is a quick kill. A total kill, not a crippling, of the enemy. And they do it so fast there are precious few battles that are slug fests. One moment you're engaging, next you're dead. Armor means nothing anymore, if anthing it's worth it to not be armored at all in many cases as it will just slow down your ability to dodge. XD

    Hi, i've never played any SE before but this is really fun to watch. I want to recommend you a game to try when you feel like it, because one of it's main mechanics is that you have to build a fleet of spaceships, considering what role each ship will have and installing weapons and modifications accordingly, while slowly growing in size, meaning you will have to keep evolving your doctrine to engage in larger battles. Now it may be a bit less complex than SE, but i think you could still have a lot of fun with it. It's called Starsector and it only costs 15 bucks. (Also look for mods if you think there's not enough ships or weapons, there is a litteral moutain of new ships and factions out there)

    I would actually challenge your definition of a destroyer. I'd classify a destroyer as specialized small heavily armored ship capable of defending larger ships in a battlegroup from both fighter craft and other hostile ships like frigates Corvettes and maybe even small cruisers. A frigate has always been an offensive vessel, cheap small lightly armored and fast. You take a look at navies in the world today and you notice the ambiguity between the class of frigate and destroyer. The us navy uses destroyers (and they are called such) because they're meant to protect the massive and vulnerable carriers. Whereas other navies which don't have carriers use frigates. And the difference in modern fleets is mostly just the role they play in the battlegroup. But in space engineers the meta is different than real life. Carriers aren't nearly as effective against other ships in space engineers and a battleship/battlecruiser needs to be specialized for ship to ship firepower rather than anti small craft. So a battlegroup consisting of a large vessel like a carrier or battleship, would rely on their destroyers to spot and then engage the enemy threat before it can even get to the flagship of said battlegroup. I would say a frigate would be more used alongside cruisers maybe corvettes and possibly a carrier sortie of fighter craft in fast attack hit and run strikes. Usually (usually) Devised to jump your enemy and then leave before any real damage to your own ships could be achieved. Using the term brawler destroyer and fleet destroyer sounds too much of a mouthful. Especially when there's already a name for those two classes of ship. But that's just my nitpick.

    • @GetBrocked
      @GetBrocked  2 роки тому +12

      I don't think using modern navies as a indicator of ship class is a good idea because practically speaking, at least with the US navy the main weapon system mk41 launch system is just as effective on a Destroyer as it is on the Cruisers.
      Also the US navies destroyers, contrary to what people say, are hyper specialized anti-air ships. With some minor land strike capability, anti sub (mostly handled by the helicopter on board) and virtually zero anti ship capability
      Contrast to a time period like WW2, we get a much more robust ship definition framework. WHich is what my Destroyer definition is from

      @@GetBrocked They do, easily too. Just make a missile, add 2 rotors for azimuth & elevation a 90 degrees to each other, inverted so as the rotor head is what is connecting to the main body of the missile. On the end of those rotors, just add a single gyro. All shared tension. Ai turret controller on main missile block. Can even give it rockets on the front to breach for the warheads.

    • @tomryder3641
      @tomryder3641 2 роки тому +6

      You could also leave them as 'mines' that will self propel towards targets in range by leaving thrust off, then having the ai turret trigger the thrust. Countless other uses I imagine

    • @raxamonbathory8633
      @raxamonbathory8633 2 роки тому +9

      @@tomryder3641 He's absolutely correct. I've seen these things in action with axial mounted arties that just happily turn much larger targets into mulch. The fact they're easy to weld up and manufacture in large enough numbers only makes their use all the more lucrative, their PSU friendly design making them almost favorable to getting your own hands dirty.
      The age of the battleship ended because there were cheaper alternatives to deliver ordinance accurately. This PMW is the equivalent of the Yamato staring down the barrels of the USS Daniel Inouye DDG. The battle would end and the Yamoto wouldn't even see the missiles coming.
