Fun Fact: The original ending to Alien had the it piloting the ship. The original script also had the alien holding Parker hostage against Lambert (who would've been wielding a flamethrower), ultimately using Parker as a meat shield.
Rob you're one of the few people on this planet that seem to know a little more about Comics or at least certain comics than I do and I appreciate it cuz you're the one person I look up information for on certain things and it's saying a lot considering the fact I have over 10,000 comics and I've been collecting since I was 9 so keep up the good work thank you one love to another comic book love
I had this books when i was like 12.... my dad had them. I read them abd loved them. Ty for bringin it all back Rab!!! This 3 books should have been the next 3 movies that follow Aliens. And it ends with earth destruction! EPIC
mango man He made dome mistakes though in his review of the comics for Aliens comics, and they don't actually conflict much at all with the movies because Fox has made it so canon is very flexible, as stated in interviews about canon.
Starting a UA-cam channel soon... And honestly I am appreciative to the fullest that you also respect alien Covenant for what it was and what really Scott was trying to do I guess it's the better words to put it for some people... Rob core I am so glad I found you... You have introduced respect for Comics I never had and I appreciate it once again to the fullest keep it up and once again. ...peweeace
Great video. I'm on my my 6th Alien novel in a row, I can't get enough. I'm glad someone else enjoys these books as much as I do. I'm reading Alien Phalanx now and it's ok. Nothing juicy yet but I'm only 30 pages in. Anyway, you have a new subscriber.
The design of the Space Jockeys was far more interesting and unique then the Engineers. Also, while it sounds like a great idea to capture the Queen Mother, maybe sending a small rag-tag team to the literal home world of creatures that fucked up all of Earth with a small cluster of themselves, was not the most well thought out idea.
ok it wasn't a bad movie i guess, it was fun to watch. it just didn't answer the questions i had from Prometheus. i felt Shaws death was a kin to alien 3 how they killed off hicks and newt. i wanted to know more about the engineers and i expected more of a suspenseful horror pacing. it felt too much like an action flick to me and i didn't care about any of the characters. they just seemed to be there to be xenomorph fodder. and knowing an emo android created the great xenomorph with some black goo just seems anti climatic. i just walked away unhappy from the film. i guess it depends a lot on your expectations going in. i can see how a person who didn't care about Prometheus or the connection to alien would enjoy it for what it is.
dude, im a fan. I hope that you continue with the Marvel and Alien as well but I would like to hear you cover other Titles because you explain them so well and tell the story in a interesting way..Carry on soldier..
Robbbbbb!!!!! your the shit for covering the Xenomorph stories!! god am loving your channel even more!! you reading Aliens dead orbit, the current comic run? Great start already! oh man I have a huge fanboy Request?! I would love for you to cover the AvP/Predator stories that follow Machiko Namaguchi ska The Human Predator!! Have great week Rob!Im sure you will because WONDER WOMAN IS OUT!
It's been like 20 years since I've read this one, but as soon as I saw that illustration of Amy sitting in the hive I knew it was Sam Keith who did the illustration. That man's style is distinct to say the least.
I know I said this before... but I hope ComicsExplained replies to me again for the EXTRA good luck! Love ya Rob, videos you upload regardless of "how interesting people find them" are still always amazing. I remember when I first watched the Alien Series. My grandpa actually has the whole collection in one little bundle excluding Prometheus and Alien: Covenant since they were not released when the package was made.
Honestly I enjoy videos like this I don't see very many channels cover aliens or predator but honestly Rob I'll be surprised if you ever cover the Friday the 13th and the Nightmare on Elm Street comics
Thank you for the alien comics videos. I never knew such thing existed before subscribing to your channel. And it actually made me see if there are some other comics based on movies that I did not know about, one of which was the predator comics. If possible, I would like to request a video on those. Have a good day. :)
Thanks rob for renewing my love for comics after watching your channel for a week I ran out and spent 300$ on back issues LOL. I haven't bought a comic since my daughter was born in 97'
James Wolf Alien: They get the space message and visit LV-426 and bring an alien back on board. Ripley only survives and goes into hyper sleep. Aliens: 57 years later she is found in her pod. LV-426 has been colonized and she also outlived her daughter. They go to LV-426 and she finds Newt and all the marines but Hicks die. They got to hyper sleep again. Aliens 3: Hicks and Newt have died, Bishop is shut down by her and She's on a prison planet and has been impregnated with a queen. She kills herself to stop the company from getting the queen. Resurrection: 200 years have passed since Alien 3 and they resurrect her and get the queen extracted. She is part of them in a way and has acid blood with more agility, etc. The queen gives birth to a xeno/human hybrid, they crash the main ship to kill all the aliens on board and Ripley kills the hybrid. That's a very quick breakdown so you know the general gist of what happened.
The alien movie franchise is a mess because different directors had very different ideas for the alien universe. Ridley, for example, doesn't care for the alien movies he didn't direct.
Only Ripley would find a way to duct tape together a pulse rifle, a flame thrower, and what looks like a freaking rocket launcher. Clearly she has superhuman arm strength.
Rob, you probably won't read this, but the books and the comics don't have the same continuity, and have vastly different stories from one another. The novels follow a long continuity, after Female War, because in the novel, the nukes cause insane amounts of damage to the planet, but, don't lead to a planet wide catastrophe, because, in the novel, the queen mother is almost too big to fit in a battlecruiser size ship. Her pod is so big, that when they drop her on the planet, it creates a crater of its own, and she just rips herself free, because, again, in the novel, it is shown that she was capable of ripping apart space ships. Also, the Queen Mother's telepathy... was actually causing HUMANS to come under her sway, which is a major plot point the comics don't really cover. Genocide, specifically, follows several years after the events of Female War, and is one of the tie ins, to the rest of the continuity in the novels. There are a handful of non-continuity ones, but it has been YEARS since I read them all, and the new editions are... modified to fit in with Alien 3 mythos. Oh, and Ripley in Female War? Bioandroid (or it is heavily implied she is a new style version of the Bishop line, that was designed to -be- Ripley.)
Hope you'll get round to the other Alien comics cause I'm interested and thanks to this I might try and research the Canonicity in both Alien and Predator Comics
Yes!! Love these! Wanted to see these on film so bad!! Hated the third movie so bad for years just because it killed this possibility. Its actually a pretty good alien movie but I hated it for decades, just because it killed the possibility of the earthwar.
loving these reviews of the Alien comics Rob. If you plan on reviewing any more of the Alien comics I highly recommend Alien Labyrinth. It is my personal favorite Alien miniseries done to date and if you haven't read it yet I think you will find it worth making it's own video review for.
Spoilers for Alien: Covenant! What if the xenomorph/"protomorph" thrown off the Covenant in the Terraforming Bay landed on a planet and became the Queen Mother? I know Alien 3 contradicts this, but the comics seem better than the last two installments. But I'm proposing this because technically, that xenomorph would be the first/one of the first ones, and from there it could've molted into the Queen Mother after time. They say the Queen Mother was the first xenomorph, and that's the closest survivor I can think of.
i feel as though the queens were waiting for the engineers because in the books they did say that they would come back to take over the earth when the marines come back and whoever the victor is the engineers will fight for earth. This is the part where the one engineer talks to newt when they are escaping earth.
It takes a particular mind to understand what Ridley is trying to do with the series. There are layers to his genius, and when one understands that "Blade Runner" and "Aliens" is from the same universe we see why Weyland-Yutani is so desperate to move off world and colonize. We can see why they are so desperate to get alien life samples back to Earth, they are in competition with the Tyrell Corp ... it's the "Military Industrial Complex" run amok. It makes you wonder what exactly did the replicants of the Tyrell Corp actually do out there in space in their short life spans. Were they killing off lifeforms on habitable planets before human colonization could begin? Were they sabotaging the colonies of other companies to give Tyrell Corp a decided edge? Did they too encounter the Xenomorphs while out in space ... the Engineers? If RIdley lives long enough to do the five more movies needed to tie it all neatly up together, I'm sure the naysayers will have to eat crow.
No, Alien: Covenant removes all elements of cosmic horror from the series, the origin of the Xeno's is a joke. The timeline makes no sense what so ever anymore. You have every right to like the movie, but don't think that your theory in any way shape or form adds logic or credibility to the piss poor characters and sloppy writing that Covenant was. And trust me when I say I wanted Covenant to be amazing. Its the first Alien movie that had me feeling absolutely nothing for the characters or story and that is an accomplishment.
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh I didn't know that was this video I just saw it was Comics explained and clicked on it I didn't know what it was until it was started playing this is great
Hi Rob, loved the video. However, there are some issues with your comparison of xenomorphs to bees. Firstly, a hive of bees can ( at least for a certain period) have multiple queens. Secondly, the queen bee doesn't "give the workers orders" a closer approximation is a democracy where many different bees have a say in the decisions of the hive. The almost singular role of the queen bee is to act as the reproductive organisms of the hive. Again, love the video.
What gets me about Aliens is that it really shines as a horror with scifi elements. As we continue with more and more stories it keeps shifting to a more generic Scifi with horror elements. One offs with stories that aren't directly connected seems to be the best way to stick with the original theme but as with any serialized story people want the story to expand upon itself so they can immerse themselves in the world. Also I doubt would could ever really have a series of true one offs. They would most likely come in the form of non stop reboots like Spiderman and god help them if they ran out of ideas to the point they made a Xenomorph dance like Tobey Maguire.
The three books by Steve Perry are why better at explaining things that are brought up in this video about the comics. The ending does still leave you wanting more sadly...
This is the 3 rd alien video I watched from this channel i can't find anymore and there is not any playlists for alien comic s . Is there anymore on this channel?
I, also, really liked Covenant. The only bit that had my Jimmies rustled was the switcheroo at the end. It would have been braver to either a) not do it or b) leave it open-ended and up to the audience to decide. Also Walter was a boss and the only one smart enough to call David on his bullshit. However it sets up a good sequel where things come full circle; the engineers catch up with David, end him, and make off with his cache of eggs to fulfill their original mission.
Hey Rob, how about a Prometheus/Alien: Covenant review/discussion video? Do you think they all add up to one, cohesive universe, or that it's Alien and Aliens (in one universe) and then Prometheus and Alien: Covenant in another, alternate universe?
In the Alien universe, here's the plan. _Always:_
1. Fuck the plan.
2. RUN AWAAAAYYYYYYY!
3. Ripley, you got this.
Nathaniel Arndt he is omnipotent :)
*omnipresent ~_~
Just Some Guy with a Mustache 4.get rekt by David
GAME OVER MAAAN!!
S/he is just some pointless tit.
Aliens: Our xenomorphs are not intelligent enough to fly ships.
Warhammer 40K: Hold my beer...
kalajel FOR THE GREATER GOOD!
kalajel so true 😂
Tyranid Hive Mind: Yeah we got a Bio-Titan..
Fun Fact: The original ending to Alien had the it piloting the ship.
The original script also had the alien holding Parker hostage against Lambert (who would've been wielding a flamethrower), ultimately using Parker as a meat shield.
purge the alien
Rob you're one of the few people on this planet that seem to know a little more about Comics or at least certain comics than I do and I appreciate it cuz you're the one person I look up information for on certain things and it's saying a lot considering the fact I have over 10,000 comics and I've been collecting since I was 9 so keep up the good work thank you one love to another comic book love
The Engineers made me laugh in Prometheus. They were super ripped but had the head and face of a giant baby. Lol
Hahaha that hilarious.
They reminded me of the movie pinhead without the pins lol
They were Blaster from Mad Max beyond thunder dome, they even had the whistle.
super happy you're doing more Alien comics. Maybe Predator comics in the future? or Predator vs. comics in the future?
I had this books when i was like 12.... my dad had them. I read them abd loved them. Ty for bringin it all back Rab!!!
This 3 books should have been the next 3 movies that follow Aliens. And it ends with earth destruction!
EPIC
It would be better as a series. 5 or 6 seasons, 8 or 10 episodes each.
rob is the best thing coming out of youtube right now!!!😄😃😙
mango man He made dome mistakes though in his review of the comics for Aliens comics, and they don't actually conflict much at all with the movies because Fox has made it so canon is very flexible, as stated in interviews about canon.
mango man iii
lancer737 fuxk fox i enjoy him telling things.life to short to find out mistakes
mango man *idiot voice* aaannd all thaaat good stuff!? :/
mango man I completely agree!!
The image of a xenomorph piloting a ship is entirely too funny.
Isn't that what he meant by the Uber xenomorph?
Starting a UA-cam channel soon... And honestly I am appreciative to the fullest that you also respect alien Covenant for what it was and what really Scott was trying to do I guess it's the better words to put it for some people... Rob core I am so glad I found you... You have introduced respect for Comics I never had and I appreciate it once again to the fullest keep it up and once again. ...peweeace
Rob for president
he'll give the best speeches
He starts of his state of the union speeches with, "let me tell you somethin, man, let me tell you somethin!" lol
Prometheus' name is clever
Prometheus means before thought
That means, they should have thought before exploring a planet
Also prometheus was a greek god/titan who was said to have created mankind out of clay
ihate names you are correct! But its also said that he moulded mankind of water and earth
It also means they should have thought before letting Ridley do his own thing rather than doing Alien(s) 5 lmao
Or some thought before making the movie.
I like how Ridley always squares up against queen Xenomorphs. Like she stay trying to beef.
Great video. I'm on my my 6th Alien novel in a row, I can't get enough. I'm glad someone else enjoys these books as much as I do. I'm reading Alien Phalanx now and it's ok. Nothing juicy yet but I'm only 30 pages in. Anyway, you have a new subscriber.

i am really hoping you do more of the alien comics or at least the predictor comics
could you make more videos of the rest of the comics of alien ? your videos are great ! keep it up !
Ha! Alien Covenant's ending is an abomination more gratuitous than Prometheus by quantum miles.
LOL
that said these comics rock
thanks for doing them, love ya bro. You and Ben rock
I'm glad to hear you like Prometheus and Alien : Covenant, Rob. So glad.
to me covenant was a terrible sequel to Prometheus and a slap in the face as a prequel to alien. my opinion anyways
netsuj yenrav meh it was a good movie
but David being the creator kinda destroyed the beginning of Alien 1
ok it wasn't a bad movie i guess, it was fun to watch. it just didn't answer the questions i had from Prometheus. i felt Shaws death was a kin to alien 3 how they killed off hicks and newt. i wanted to know more about the engineers and i expected more of a suspenseful horror pacing. it felt too much like an action flick to me and i didn't care about any of the characters. they just seemed to be there to be xenomorph fodder. and knowing an emo android created the great xenomorph with some black goo just seems anti climatic. i just walked away unhappy from the film. i guess it depends a lot on your expectations going in. i can see how a person who didn't care about Prometheus or the connection to alien would enjoy it for what it is.
It was good on it's own imo, but Ridley also destroyed the existing canon to make it :/
Imo, it shouldn't be canon; these comics and alien 5 would have been/are so much better
excellent video rob love the fact you are bringing in alien content!
Rob is entitled to his opinion I saw it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed
3:16 Ripley's at with the duct tape again!😂
Thanks rob , I've been waiting on this for so long
dude, im a fan.
Comicsexplained is the best thing coming out of DC rebirth
Nightmare Asylum was my first graphic novel and still has a place on my shelf to this day.
Loving the Fandom Rob, keep it up!
It's been like 20 years since I've read this one, but as soon as I saw that illustration of Amy sitting in the hive I knew it was Sam Keith who did the illustration. That man's style is distinct to say the least.
do predator also
Predator vs Batman and Predator vs Judge Dread were pretty good in comparison to the Alien vs Batman/Superman and Alien vs Judge Dread.
Tyquan Jackson yeah that would be sweet
Alien vs Green lanterns would work pretty well too i reckon
Midknight0122 There actually is a comic about that
GameMaster64 i have it, and it is much better than jla vs predators
I love your alien content!!! PLZ MAORRRRR
Rob please do more Alien comic videos, these are great!
"Female war" so basically when the wife meets the ex
LoneStarWolf Entertainment wildly underrated comment haha
Space Monkey who said I was married?
Space Monkey ah ok.
lazy.
@Space Monkey damn, sounds like you have shitty marriage. lol good luck with that
Take a shot every time he says "what ends up happening here" or something along those lines
Love the alien videos Rob
Rob is everything!!! These explanations tho !!! 👍
I love the artist. He has a dream like style.
Honestly I enjoy videos like this I don't see very many channels cover aliens or predator but honestly Rob I'll be surprised if you ever cover the Friday the 13th and the Nightmare on Elm Street comics
I read these book back in the 90’s! This is what we should have gotten in film
Loved this comic series back in the 90's. Only comics worth reading if you weren't in to marvel candy.
*LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING MAN INTENSIFIES*
The red vs black war storyline was fascinating.
I remember reading some of this stories, some were good some were bad but the lack of research required for some of them that's what killed it for me.
Thank you for the alien comics videos. I never knew such thing existed before subscribing to your channel. And it actually made me see if there are some other comics based on movies that I did not know about, one of which was the predator comics. If possible, I would like to request a video on those. Have a good day. :)
great series bro
Alien comics are my favorite thing your doing on this channel
Thanks rob for renewing my love for comics after watching your channel for a week I ran out and spent 300$ on back issues LOL. I haven't bought a comic since my daughter was born in 97'
Covenant? Great Blend?
WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ... Oh... You're serious?
Darrius Cooper he cant have an opinion?
Can't Die there's a BIG difference between having an opinion and being stupid pal
@@lonestarwolfentertainment7184 yes, and you are showing us how being stupid works
Sandro Gelsomini honestly I don’t even remember what my comment was about.
Rob can you explain the ENTIRE Alien series please? I've watched most of the movies and I can barely make heads or tails of the entire story.
Thanks.
There's also the prequel quadrinity, of which Prometheus and Covenant are the two so far released.
James Wolf no problem
The alien movie franchise is a mess because different directors had very different ideas for the alien universe. Ridley, for example, doesn't care for the alien movies he didn't direct.
Only Ripley would find a way to duct tape together a pulse rifle, a flame thrower, and what looks like a freaking rocket launcher. Clearly she has superhuman arm strength.

I'm really surprised you liked covenant, what with certain things being revealed and all.
She is calling them back so that they will do anything to get back to her. Stow away among ships etc. I will buy this comic for myself. Thank you Rob.
Am I realistically supposed to believe that making the planet uninhabitable for 1000 years is easier than just waiting for them to starve
I'm accually watching aliens right now as he uploaded it 😂
the funny thing is in a novel it was revealed that newt is her great grand daughter
these stories seem interesting to me. going to search for they and read them. please do the other ones too.
Nice choices for the lastest videos
aye this is pretty good
glad to hear you liked covenant, everyone else seems bent on hating it, haha
Just need a few Spartan Super Soldiers or just John S-117 to beat the Aliens.
11:55 I'm reminded of what happened in the first episode of Gravity Falls when they took out the lead gnome!
Hope you'll get round to the other Alien comics cause I'm interested and thanks to this I might try and research the Canonicity in both Alien and Predator Comics
hello asome video dude
So basically the Queen Mother's guards are the strongest of all xenomorphs?
Yes!! Love these! Wanted to see these on film so bad!! Hated the third movie so bad for years just because it killed this possibility. Its actually a pretty good alien movie but I hated it for decades, just because it killed the possibility of the earthwar.
I wanted to see the novelization version on screen it was...well...better. The plan was better.
The quality of the art in the third book is sht compared to the two previous ones. 11:53 left. They would have all died under that rain of acid blood.
loving these reviews of the Alien comics Rob. If you plan on reviewing any more of the Alien comics I highly recommend Alien Labyrinth. It is my personal favorite Alien miniseries done to date and if you haven't read it yet I think you will find it worth making it's own video review for.

Aliens is Different from alien i wouldn't say its any better other than that brilliant video
You liked Covenant? Be gone from mine eyes! Lol.
i feel as though the queens were waiting for the engineers because in the books they did say that they would come back to take over the earth when the marines come back and whoever the victor is the engineers will fight for earth. This is the part where the one engineer talks to newt when they are escaping earth.
They need to make this series into films or video games.
I’d really love to see Rob do more none Marvel/DC videos.
Always wished they made this set of books into movies. Would be great.
oh my gosh, finally a UA-camr I like who doesn't consider covenant absolute trash. I liked it too.
It takes a particular mind to understand what Ridley is trying to do with the series. let's keep our fingers crossed that he writes it all down for someone else to follow if he doesn't get to do it himself.
I enjoyed covenant as well. I can't wait for awaken now.

Right on cue.
Rob, how about covering some of the alien vs predator comics? god knows those books were better than any of the movies were.
Alien: out of the shadows, river of pain, and sea of sorrow are what we should have gotten in movie form vs promethis/covenant.
It's the Ubermorph, Rob. The Queen Mother is Ubermorph
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh I didn't know that was this video I just saw it was Comics explained and clicked on it I didn't know what it was until it was started playing this is great
Hi Rob, loved the video.
I loved covenant one of the best movies I've watched this year also Logan and split.
Subbed, fucking love these vids.
1:18 Um Rob I think Angry Joe would like a word with you
What gets me about Aliens is that it really shines as a horror with scifi elements. As we continue with more and more stories it keeps shifting to a more generic Scifi with horror elements. Man, I want to know about the Xenomorph Civil War.
I want to know more about the Uber xenomorph. Do they have a space app?
So I'll be searching ladies yelling at aliens and I get this
For one, read the other comics because hicks and newt being there was reconned and Ripley was an android
Rob could you do *Superman/Batman vs Alien/Predator*.... you won't regret it ;)
The three books by Steve Perry are why better at explaining things that are brought up in this video about the comics. The ending does still leave you wanting more sadly...
The Queen Mothers elite guards are called Praetoren guards, just wanted to put that out there.
This is the 3 rd alien video I watched from this channel i can't find anymore and there is not any playlists for alien comic s . Is there anymore on this channel?
Will you ever do the Promethus Fire and stone comics rob?
I, also, really liked Covenant. The only bit that had my Jimmies rustled was the switcheroo at the end. It would have been braver to either a) not do it or b) leave it open-ended and up to the audience to decide. Also Walter was a boss and the only one smart enough to call David on his bullshit.

Hey Rob, how about a Prometheus/Alien: Covenant review/discussion video? Do you think they all add up to one, cohesive universe, or that it's Alien and Aliens (in one universe) and then Prometheus and Alien: Covenant in another, alternate universe?
