You even done one on an older Altima I think it was, where you have to fold the cabin filter like a damn accordion to get it in the box lol, the hole is literally smaller than the filter so you have to smash the filter to get it into the box and then it springs back open once you get it in
Newer ones are the same , did one for my mother in law and she told me the usual guy gets upside down with his feet out the window 😂😂 she was pretty much right wtf
Reminds me of my time at Mercedes! Some of the worst cabin filters to do especially the GTs, such little space to work in and the cover barely comes off to get to it
My worst was a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. 3 panels that are removed from the driver's side, by the firewall, similar to this location. Removing is easy, but to install, you insert one panel, raise it into the HVAC case, line up a plastic channel on the 2nd panel with the corresponding channel on the first panel, slide it in (it's gonna jam and stop half way) then repeat for the third panel. Crazy
My 97 Honda Cr-v has cabin air filter buried in dash behind dashboard cross brace. 2 hour job to remove everything. F' that- a quick cut using a grinding wheel made it a 7 minute job. 😃😃😃😃😃
They're all getting to be like that. Engineers should have to a year working in the shop on what they designed. But, they're told to make them more compact without losing passenger space. The end result is a car like my '17 escape, where you have to drop the engine down to replace the water pump, and pull the timing belt as well. Pre- computer is all ill ever buy now. I can spend 10k restoring my 30 year old crown vic or dodge truck, and have something better all the way around.
BMW isn't selling performance really. They are selling status symbols, thus they make them expensive to buy and repair, actually they are really smart. Don't buy them. If you have patience, you can make mountains of cash repairing them. I sure am.😂
I bought a used 2005 3X BMW from a friend of my son-in-law whom I trust completely. But. Neither one of them told me how expensive parts are or how expensive and hard it is to find someone to work on one. They also didn’t tell me that BMWs are notorious for having a window problem where the glass falls off the track. (As I write this, one of my windows has fallen off the track and I have to put plastic over the window. It looks like a rez car )I’m on SSDI. I can barely afford anything. I’m so mad at myself. Mice were in it, I can still smell it. It runs like a r****d ape, but the “service engine soon” light has been on since I bought it 5 years ago. I wish I’d just bought a Ford. At least my son-in-law could work on it cuz he has Fords
Man you cant even do rear brakes on a BMW anymore without having a scanner to accuate the e-brake solenoid. Also they make everything under the hood so fragile and proprietary. BMW seem to make ever effort to milk the customers teet for billable hours.
Looks like the same kind of design which you can find on Stellantis group of cars, dont know who invented this first...? European cars haven't always been designed to be maintenainced, i'm working with Stellantis cars every day here.
@Ford boss me I need you now more than ever 2019 Ford fusion 2.5 code p0116 I changed coolant temp sensor and thermostat two weeks later came back on coolant temp above temp and check engine light took it to Ford dealership they changed the air intake sensor 2 days later back on my boy is a marine and can't keep paying for dealership any idea supposed to be at least one more sensor other than air intake sensor and coolant temp sensor i wanna do it myself just don't know what it is

My Chrysler 300 has the easiest cabin filter. Open hood, pop one plastic cover off near the firewall and boom. There it is.
I had a 2009 Mazda 3 and the cabin air filter is a pain to change as well. The headlight bulbs are a pain also on the Mazda.

Not just BMW. Any vehicle with electronic parking brake needs a scanner to enter brakes service mode.
Almost all manufacturers have gone to electronic parking brakes that require a scanner or special procedure
