- Here I demonstrate the step by step process of how to Change the brakes and rotors on a 2010-2014 Nissan Rogue. Though I don't actually change the rotors in this demonstration I explain and show you how you would do it in the event you are changing the brakes and rotors on your vehicle.
For rear brakes and rotors check out this video! • How To Change the Rear...
Your instructions were very clear and to the point. You made my job a lot easier Thank you man.
Thanks for posting. Exceeded expectations. Just finished watching rear brake replacement. Now I am good to go to do a total brake replacement
This is a REALLY good educational video with very clear video work and excellent explanation. Thank you!
Thank you sir I appreciate ur help and instructions very simple and easy to follow 👍
I just change the brakes and rotors on my 2015 Nissan rogue, it is the exact same deal. Literally looks exactly the same.
Also just used a pair of channel lock pliers to push the pistons back down, versus a clamp. It worked out nicely. It was my very first time ever doing anything that deep on a vehicle.
Man, that's a good demo!
Good stuff bro 😎
Good job! But there’s another way where you remove only one bolt if not changing the rotor. It is located at the back on the caliper towards the front. Recommend the bottom one on the caliper at the back and not the top. Once removed you just lift the caliper upward, remove the pads and guide, reinsert the new pads and guide along with the warning wear attachments. Push back in the piston to allow for the thickness of the new pads. Retighten the bolt and voila, you’re done. Recommend cleaning the caliper, piston areas with a small hard or wire brush.
Thanks dude this is great I appreciate it
Great job! Changing mine now!
So when putting the new brakes on, you used the c clamp to push the piston back into place right?
For a job like this,, how much is it to change the brakes and rotors
If you are doing it yourself and just doing the front brakes and rotors probably around 300. You could look online and probably find cheaper deals but sometimes those are less quality rotors and brakes. Just be sure to look at reviews and ratings.
Got sea sick changing the brakes and roaters using this tutorial!!!🤢🤢🤢........🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 LMAO!!! Just playing! Good job on this. Great job explaining the process.
The replacement parts come with grease. Where would I need to apply the grease??
You would apply the grease to the back of the brake pads where they meet the caliper.
Do not put the grease on the rotors or on the ceramic part of the brake pads!
Why remove the entire caliper assembly just to replace the pads?
Robert Rolley, some vehicles do have inserts from the rear of the caliper that you can slide the old ones out and slide the new ones in; however, this Nissan does not have that option. Even so the piston inside the caliper can be difficult to push back to make space for the new pads in that type of situation so sometimes the easiest thing to do is remove the entire caliper. But you are correct some vehicles do have the option of sliding them out without removing the caliper but this one unfortunately does not.
@@bullseyenate231 You can typically just loosen the one caliper bolt and just fold the caliper down off the rotor. Instead of removing the whole caliper. I think that's what he was saying.
What about the rear brake and rotors are they the same like the front same tools etc
Darius Alexander, yes it’s pretty close here is a video I have showing you how to do the rear. Let me know if you have any questions.
Here is the link to the video.

Hey bud is this the same process all around?
Yes, here is another video to the rear breaks.

Thanks Good info.
Didn't the rubber boot tear since you didn't insert it into the piston?
No I did fix the boot when putting it back together. But if the boot was not fixed theoretically, if it were pinched yes it would probably tear.
Does need the emergency break need to be on while doing this?
brooks davis, no. However you need to make sure that your car is secure before jacking it up.
Fix the boot🤦🏼♂️
TheOutwiththeold - I was thinking the same thing 😏
Hi, would this repair apply to a 2015 Nissan Rogue SL?
anne marie conrod, the 2015 SL model is going to be slightly different than what you see in this particular video, but all of the basics will be the same. If you feel pretty confident about what you have seen here than you will be fine . Things may just look slightly different from what you saw displayed here.
What brand of replacement are those?
Vish Ram, I purchased these at my local o’Riley auto parts store
Why would my rogue go to the floor after a full brake system
Air in the lines, or maybe even a busted brake line could cause this issue
you forgot to take top off of the reservoir before pushing back the piston!
if you buy all the parts, most places will turn the rotors for free.
Great vid but the title says rotors too and thats what i came for and u didnt do them lol
Rename the video that ur just doing the brakes!
Torque?
The subject stated change brakes, and rotors?
Jeff Blankenship, yes because though I did not change the rotor I explained how to in the event that you were. It’s simply doing what I did but when you get to it you pull the rotor off too
Here is an example of brakes and rotors on the back

The boot on that caliper looks nasty. I usually clean off any dirt or residue.
I would have at least lubed that boot a bit...
A little messy and disorganized. Also, should have used lubricant on back of pads and on clips.
try not to say "um" in your videos. Nice job though thanks.
set the record for saying um
THIS guy is dangerous! NEVER in 30 years does anyone remove brake caliper to remove pads! Not necessary! Undo the bolts with the rubber boots on them 13 or 14 mm and the brake unit slips off change the pads! You don't need a 1/2 inch drive ratchet to accomplish this! HE MUST BE HIGH!
Too confusing not prepared 👎
Misleading title
Jonathan Dunlap, how so?
@@bullseyenate231 Changing the rotors is not shown
Jonathan Dunlap, 5:42, I explained what you would do literally all you do when you get to that step is pull it off. It’s super easy. 👌🏼

Here’s and example on the back it’s the same on the front too remove the caliper then the rotor is ready to come off.
