Resistance is a bit light, so I am working on improving that. The rest of the machine works well.
Update: The best way to increase the resistance is to add resistance loop bands, not to use standard bungee cords.
Search by "Resistance Loop Bands" in Amazon.
You can add them together and change the resistance as desired.
Basically it means the resistance from the wheel against the air is minimal, therefore the return mechanism for the chain is actually acting as the load when pulling.
I have tried adding PVC fins to the wheel, but the air resistance is still well below the requirements. I suppose you need a very good stiff impeller in order to go near a Concept 2 or similar machine.
For the moment using resistance rubber bands seems to be the only way to achieve a good erg experience.

Thanks for discussing the resistance levels from the wheel alone. That has been a big concern of mine as I start designing one of these in my head.

Skateboard seat! I love it. I'm designing my own right now, and I think that may be my seat type.

And it was only €7.99! It works well, I added some EVA foam on top and there you go!

My impellor gives great resistance with just one long bungee for the return system - might be worth a look as it's a little different to yours

I took a look. I think the longer the return cord the better. Thanks.

Hey very good design. I´d like to build one but I wonder how to control and increase the resistance? are the blades enough. Thank you in advance.

Gerardo Roberts the blades were not enough. I added some resistance rubber bands, please see the notes in the description. A other option was to add more weight to the wheel, using a water containers. Thanks.

Thanks, and have you ever considered or had the experience of adaptin the break system of a bike? thanks again.

Gerardo Roberts not really. I wanted to adapt a bike turbo trainer, the ones with oil inside but these can be noisy. The only other way without friction is magnets.

It is very interesting to add the blades to get more resistance to workout! But how do you get a precise "return" without using a spring? It is best to use the wrap-around spring (of adequate size) of the chainsaw or column drills.

I use two resistance loop bands. They are stronger than the common bungee chords.

How did you connect the bike chain to the resistance band? (I’m using zip ties to connect to inner tube for resistance mid build but I don’t trust them long-term.) would be grateful for advice!

Ainda pode adicionar um dispositivo para carregar o celular enquanto malha.

Hi! I was wondering if the blueprints for this are still available? I can't seem to find it on the openergo website. Thank you!
