What a bright horse. He worked out so many ways in which he can avoid to do what his human wants. He even worked out that he can use his weight and strength as well. But he met his match with Steve who is one step ahead of him all the way. Steve is the best horse trainer ever.
I don't like the optical illusion caused by the black wall color half way up the walls. Spray some white dots on it so the horses don't feel like its a tiny platform floor surrounded by a bottomless pit. Throw some sawdust on it !!! Or paint the walls completely white. Curious idea--how many horses won't load in a white box compared to the half black box? This doesn't excuse the behavior problems at all, but it may explain the original impression the horse has of the hole we want them to go into. Even painting tall grass on the black wall would probably help. Also orient the box so the sun shines into it and not on their faces.
Awesome job Steve and Tanya!!!! You give us so much wisdom! Tanya I love the way you greet all the horses in the barn. It’s beautiful! Love you guys!!!! Keep making a difference!
@dorindacontreras1094 - I enjoy the way she greets all the other horses. They're interested in humans and she returns that interest. And there are some beautiful horses in this stable; that black and white one especially.
TBH, knowing how a horse is programmed to avoid that small space, I can see why so many have trouble with the horse float style the Brits are using these days. Those completely closed in vans are just dead end black caves on wheels and any self respecting horse should avoid them. Of course, we need them to go in and be happy about it. But even I fear the repercussions on behalf of the horse. So it falls to people like Steve to convince the horse it should do this readily and always without hesitation. As always, good job.
Happy belated birthday Steve! 1963 is a good vintage year, I'll be 60 yrs young this year too 😃 Thank you for another great video, please keep them coming 👍
Watched a video of royal guards trying to load one of the horses and with all the trouble they had, I thought they need Steve! They gave up after several attempts and took him back to the stable.
Steve is a wonder, but Tanya is a gem. She keeps the positivity and relaxed atmosphere going throughout and got can tell that she loves the horses and the mission. And I love the humor of both of you - essential to life, in my view.
I am always surprised how well you are able to work through all the different problems. Sometimes solving the problem one way and other times solving the problem a completely different other way. Again, I continue to learn each time I watch you handling horses. Thank you.
Another great video! Love to watch how you slowly and patiently change the way the horse thinks.. Love Tanya's comments!! Makes this a big cut above other horse training videos! Love you guys! (and Steve- 60 is not really bad. You have your health - you love what you do - you have such a great, funny and witty wife - these are maybe the best days of your life! ❤
Great session with this 'chunky monkey' and 'owchie' Steve, I saw that and felt your pain, brought back bad memories 🥴 Glad there was no real damage as you had to dance in the "Disco" for your Birthday Bash! Thanks Tania for your banter, I always get a giggle! Fiona won't know herself now, traveling everywhere with her trusty steed thanks to your help Steve. 🤠🐎
Brilliant … never a disappointment watching your channel. Crunchy’s a much happier boy now. 😊 And yes, there’s always something to learn in each and every VLOG you put out. Crunchy is quite the handsome gelding … loved the dappling on him that you could see when the sunlight hit him just so. 😊 My parents had a palomino gelding who used to deliberately step on your foot and then lean into you. It was the lesson I learned to never pull my foot out from underneath the weight of the horse’s hoof on your foot … but if I stood still and got him to take his hoof off my foot first, I never had a sore foot … bruised maybe but not limping around like I used to. Amazing the little tricks they get up to, with trying to move you vs. other way around. Always nice to hear Tanya’s chuckles, when Steve’s mastered the problem … or when she wins the bet … not that she’s much of a gambling woman! Glad you had good festivities last Saturday when you turned a number … and survived it! 😂 You’re still younger than me! 😮 I do hope you’ll be posting a VlOG for that last ranch day and Steve’s B.D. celebrations … and that it’s not going to be just for members only. Looking forward to the VLOG for Scotland … and then I think you’re off to a very important wedding 😄 and a stop over in Las Vega (?) and horse show … my it’s been quite an eventful and busy year for you two! BTW … love the toilet paper Tanya! 😂🤣😂 Happy Trails! 🙌🙏🐴🐎
Happy belated Birthday, Steve. I appreciate every video - there is so much to learn from you and together with Tanya and your family - it is such a treat to watch the videos. I also enjoy very much the different horse breeds and cross-breeds you have in the UK - every size possible and all of them beautiful in there own right. Greetings from Switzerland
There nothing left to say about your skills, chuffed you had a great birthday. You don’t look a day over 59! I hope you have many years to come of helping people and horses. And Tanya, you’re a gem. A charmer with good camera skills, showing us Steve’s work and love it when you intro the horses and other animals as well. Bless you both!
I wonder if part of the problem is the overhead, hinged door? If it was made so it was more upright when open it might not feel such a squeeze for the horse. If horses can be shy about humans above them or a wall next to them, surely an open door above them must be judged a no-go for them. Indeed, you admirably got him past that fear & responding to prompt, Steve. But if manufacturers could put themselves in a horse's shoes they may be able to avoid trailering problems altogether. Just a thought...great video! Love Tanya's asides & observations. Always, sweet! Happy 60th!
I totally agreed with you on that top door, as when he has to step up the ramp he could feel like his head would bump into it. Also coming in from a bright sun and into a dark small space is concerning as their eyes take longer than ours to adjust.
Steve - is there a reason horses choose to travel facing backwards when they are free in the trailer? I've noticed my miniature stallion faces backward when traveling. Just curious.
I love you both Steve and Tanja, so friendly and funny to people and horses, not only a trainer, great work every time. 60 is a cool age !!! I am61 since yesterday 😂
I have always bragged about my horses - always wanting to go in the trailer. The other day my mare kicked herself getting in the trailer and when we went to go home she didn’t want to get back on the trailer. It took some time but eventually she got on. Well fast forward to the other day and she said NOPE not going. So I left her home (she hates being alone) but when I got home we got to work in the round pen then over to the trailer we went. She said NOPE so we went to work again. Then she jumped right in. So now we get to work daily on our trailer loading. It is nice to watch you Steve and get more ideas and better ways to get to the same result. Thank you for your work!
Those small horse trailers are claustrophobic for me. No wonder horses have issues. It's like getting into a coffin on wheels, and traveling facing backwards is a sickening experience.
Steve gets to work with some really nice horses that are well made and well cared for. This goes to show you that pretty is as pretty does. It is all about miscommunication between two species. Steve takes a very complex process and breaks it down into small steps that are easy to understand.❤❤❤
Happy Belated Birthday Steve! Age is just a number. It's all about how you feel. I'm 63 and some days I feel 83 but other days, my mind doesn't feel any different than I was at 16. My body says I'm not lol
I have a feeling this horse has been whipped before seeing how nervous he is acting. He's protecting himself. I always wonder why these trailer vans were invented as they're way too small! Great result though!
Just can’t get a break, right! Even in the bathroom 😢. I can’t believe you’re 60, thought you were early 50’s. Must be something Tanya is doing that’s keeping you young!😊. Great video, keep ‘em coming please. Thanks guys.
Wow. Scary, thank goodness for Steve and Tanya. Magnificent. Happy Birthday. Nothing like being wiser and knowing yourself well from Life Experience. Cheers.
Agree with the owner that Steve needs to be cloned! Would love to see this amazing horseman in Australia or, better yet, enough Steves to replace the "all hat no cattle" trainer types that are everywere! 😃
Thank you for that quote. Saw one of those guys at a Buck Brannaman clinic last Friday. He was in the corner of the arena where there were 25 horses, so he was hidden from most people seeing what was happening. But he was right in front of me whipping with a flag on this poor horse. He was the "trainer" for this young woman. She was lost.
Phew your poor foot….but amazing loading with Fiona in the end…..🕺🏼🕺🏼💃💃💃💕💕💕💕 love the loo roll, my hubby turned 60 in April too xoxoxo Happy Birthday Steve from us here in Australia 🎉🎂🎉🥳🎊🥳🍻
Crunchie, as in foot crunchies.🙈 Steve did so well showing this horse what is expected of him. I could use a Steve here for a week helping with my handsome beast. But I’m learning so much from these videos, I am figuring stuff out on my own! Hurray for Fiona and Crunchie!
Really interesting video. Beautiful horse. How wonderful the owner is now able to go out & about safely in the van. Will open up so many opportunities for them both🤗
He seems to be trying to please. I notice no anger.. .I may be wrong but he seems to want to please but is not sure what is wanted( exactly)... Seems a sweet.
That cob is a rascal. Sympathy for the foot stomp, Steve, he knew exactly what he was doing, same with the shoulder shove. I actually like horses like him , because once his ground manners are straightened out he will be an an absolutely fabulous cross country / trail horse. Best wishes for his rider!
I have said it before Steve I wish I had known you and your methods when I was trying to train my horse years ago. I didn't do it the right way luckily we both survived and he was a wonderful horse so he tolerated all my mistakes. Not the same with the horse I have now but we're learning. I will keep trying and I will keep watching your videos thank you so much for all you do.
Splendid work as always! Would you say Fiona might be generally pushing into the horse a bit too much and use the rope too short? (as can be seen while she puts him away at the end as well)
I love the banter between Steve & Tanya. Also enjoy this delightful lady, Fiona. I do t h i n k there is a video of Steve working with this horse before (but I couldn't find it to let people know).
Another excellent session. Enough of a challenge to include good learning moments but overall, a pretty quick turnaround. Sorry about your foot, Steve , but I hope you bought Tanys a lovely breakfast!
CRUNCHIE IS LIVING UP TO HIS NAME, TRYING TO CRUNCH YOU STEVE. HE IS A STIFF LITTLE BUGGER, WHO NEEDS TO LEARN TO FLEX AT A STAND STILL. WELL DONE STEVE AS ALWAYS. 👏👏👏
What a bright horse. He worked out so many ways in which he can avoid to do what his human wants. He even worked out that he can use his weight and strength as well. But he met his match with Steve who is one step ahead of him all the way. Steve is the best horse trainer ever.
Steve's energy was noticeably different with this horse, a real firm assertion of boundaries, matching the energy of this horse.
Perhaps bc he's worked with this horse before. He knew how firm but kind he could be.
The horse seemed to be right on top of her when she was putting him away
I don't like the optical illusion caused by the black wall color half way up the walls. Crunchie and Fiona are going to be legends
Eventually he seems to say , u want me to go in? No worries. The way he lines himself up by the end is everything. Such a good boy! Great job Steve!
Awesome job Steve and Tanya!!!! You give us so much wisdom! Tanya I love the way you greet all the horses in the barn. It’s beautiful! Love you guys!!!! Keep making a difference!

Watched a video of royal guards trying to load one of the horses and with all the trouble they had, I thought they need Steve! They gave up after several attempts and took him back to the stable.
I watched that and thought the same thing! They really struggled 😂
Me too!😂
I love Steve's comment to the horse. You have to go forward onto the trailor for Mommy!
Tears for me again when the lady walked her horse into the lorri no trouble. Hopefully she can do it without Steve there. I'm hoping for her! 🐎😍👍
Steve is a wonder, but Tanya is a gem. She keeps the positivity and relaxed atmosphere going throughout and got can tell that she loves the horses and the mission. And I love the humor of both of you - essential to life, in my view.
Well done Steve, still kicking ass at 60. I'm 62 and still kicking ass. I just do it more slowly now.
And as for Fiona, 73. What a lady, go girl😊
I am always surprised how well you are able to work through all the different problems. Sometimes solving the problem one way and other times solving the problem a completely different other way. Again, I continue to learn each time I watch you handling horses. Thank you.
Poor thing looks bewildered!
Did they get some safety clips for the van?
When you delete something ,it's stored in your binned archive for 30 more days.Unless you empty your Binned archive as well
I am glad she will be able to enjoy her lively horse more.
60 is the new 40 Steve - Life begins. Enjoy! You deserve it & your family too. ❤
Bravo, Bravo, again Steve and Tanya you are the hero of the Horse World. Happy Birthday Steve!
Such a bright and brilliant trainer and human being.
Beautiful horse, lovely owner and fabulous work by Steve as always!!
In the beginning when it shows the struggles and then it’s immediately followed by “lovely day” made me giggle. 😊
Dear Mrs. Young, thank you so very much. Your voice level was spot on, today. Lovely job. God bless.
This lady is the rare person who you tell to relax the rope and she does it well!!!

Thanks for sharing and keep in mind that life apparently begins at 65! Cheers

I always have trouble loading my boy. After so many tries and lots of patience he finally goes on.
Happy 60th birthday, Steve!
Happy birthday... 🎉 Loved the change in the horse. Learned respect for your space so quickly. Awesome video. Thank you.
Great work Steve!
I adore Tanya’s little laugh of success.
Happy Birthday I'm 65 was 45 yesterday Cherish every minute good video.❤

@@rososborne3995, yes, why don't boxes have lights in for the loading? They needn't stay on once the horse is in and found the hay.

I remember being 60! Just. Great session. Learned a lot. Thanks Steve.

Changing lives and having fun. How good is that? Very, very good, Tanya and Steve.
Happy belated birthday!! 60 years young. Never a dull video and have learned so much from you! 🇨🇦
That was great The van did look like it was very dark when the doors were shut. Makes me shudder
Those small horse trailers are claustrophobic for me. No wonder horses have issues. It's like getting into a coffin on wheels, and traveling facing backwards is a sickening experience.

Happy belated 60th birthday Steve.
I love the way Steve shows everyone how to get respect from your equine. How to get ones horse do as they asked the first time around ❤❤❤
Happy 60 birthday, Steve.!
🎉🎉🎉
Love the video with Crunchy.!
God bless you and keep you safe.!!
Happy Belated Birthday Steve! Age is just a number. It's all about how you feel. I'm 63 and some days I feel 83 but other days, my mind doesn't feel any different than I was at 16. My body says I'm not lol
Happy B-Day Steve, hope you had your fill of good food, good friends, great family and lots of good drinks!
Stay safe Steve!! Another great video 🐴
60? Amazing! I thought you were just 50 - really. Many happy returns, albeit belatedly.🎉🎉
I keep waiting for a head on collision when you’re driving lol.
I have a feeling this horse has been whipped before seeing how nervous he is acting. He's protecting himself. I always wonder why these trailer vans were invented as they're way too small! Great result though!
Steve does a great work on the hoses ❤❤
Worth every penny you are!
Happy Birthday, Steve!
You both are wonderful together What a brilliant 👏 person you are with horses 🐎
Another super video! I loved everything about this one… The whole family is just wonderful!
Happy Birthday 60th Steve!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Happy Birthday, young man. I've got you beat at 64.
Happy Birthday Steve!
I love their stables too Tanya, they are gorgeous. Love to you all. Awesome job as always.

Happy Birthday Steve! Tanya won on that gamble! 😊
Happy birthday. I’ll be 60 in October myself from north Alabama. Hope you’re birthday was great.
Very impressive work. An amazing change in the horses attitude.
Happy Birthday Steve.
Phew your poor foot….but amazing loading with Fiona in the end…..🕺🏼🕺🏼💃💃💃💕💕💕💕 love the loo roll, my hubby turned 60 in April too xoxoxo Happy Birthday Steve from us here in Australia 🎉🎂🎉🥳🎊🥳🍻

Happy Birthday and Happy Trails Steve!
Happy belated birthday Steve,im sure it was chaos 😂😂❤
I love the banter between Steve & Tanya. Also enjoy this delightful lady, Fiona. I do t h i n k there is a video of Steve working with this horse before (but I couldn't find it to let people know).
Yes, he's been there before - they worked in the round pen when she'd just got him, and at the mounting block in the stable 😊
Happy birthday Steve. Great video and horse. 😊
You are amazing with those horses. Great job .
Another excellent session. Enough of a challenge to include good learning moments but overall, a pretty quick turnaround. Sorry about your foot, Steve , but I hope you bought Tanys a lovely breakfast!
Love watching you, and learning.❤😂 Happy belated Birthday!!!!
Happy belated Birthday Steve! From an Aussie fan!
Seems like trailers are always so dark, like going into a big black hole. Like the bottom of the inside walls are black, and not even any sunlight.
Unbelievable.thanks guys.❤
CRUNCHIE IS LIVING UP TO HIS NAME, TRYING TO CRUNCH YOU STEVE. HE IS A STIFF LITTLE BUGGER, WHO NEEDS TO LEARN TO FLEX AT A STAND STILL. WELL DONE STEVE AS ALWAYS. 👏👏👏
Great job! What a difference !😊
AMAZING as always, hope your foot has healed Steve🥰, Sharon.
