I bought a 1974 minimoog this year. Took me almost a year and a half to pay it off (no interest) but I don’t regret it at all. I’m going to try out the sound at 8:15 when I get time later today. That sounds incredible just listening to this video in my car.
Previously, when this model was on the market as it is here, I played it on the floor of Guitar Center. A personal achievement was in figuring out how to patch a tone played by Genesis’ Tony Banks on “Tonight Tonight Tonight”, a kind of marimba sound with a harmonic partial (3 octaves and a minor third above the fundamental) that dominated the sound. It was another achievement to be able to retune Osc. 3 where it was before I sat in front of this particular Model D.
@@iwillnevergetone5 I understand the ease with a payment plan, but something doesn't feel right purchasing the Moog for nonprofessional needs on credit. Overall best advice I hear unless you're making a living with music is: "Don't buy gear on credit."
@@lofivibes3040 zZounds also has interest-free payment plans. I’d imagine what they have to gain is lots of customers that wouldn’t be buying anything if it wasn’t for those payment plans. Stuff is too expensive nowadays.
You don't have to plug the headphone out into the external input to get over drive. It's already internally wired on this model. Plugging something into the external jack will disconnect the internal connection, though, so you can patch in some other audio device.
No denying the timeless layout/workflow and sound - great demo of a great synth. IF I had $5k burning a hole in my pocket and IF I already had the king of analog polys (P10rev4) I personally would get an SE Midimini. At least the same build quality, sound, workflow/layout, some added capabilities, and $2k less. The Moog and a P10 are $9400, but then you do have 2 landmark phenomenal synths... While I certainly would smile a lot in that situation if I am writing the checks there would be a P10 desktop, Midimini, and Hydrasynth deluxe in that space for $900 less.
One becomes quick at dialing-in the bread and butter sounds, especially with such a relatively simple synth. Although I agree that presets are a wonderful thing. And I certainly don't think I can hear a difference between my Minimoog plugin and analog clone.
I don’t think you have to actually do the self patch to get it to scream on the new one. I think there is a mod in the mixer section which patches it internally when nothing is present in the external input.

2 of my favorite synth things! Tom and the Minimoog!
I still have mine I bought in 79. It is still rocking today. The only thing that I owned that is close was an old system 15 I grabbed. A great video!
Beautiful!
Great video! Lighting and photography is on point!
Beautifully produced video, Tom! 🙌

Sounds absolutely fantastic
I cam in. I touched this. I played it.
I wish I had not because it's just that GOOD.
one of the best ever
Man I want one of these so badly. Impossibly hard to justify for me, though I may still find a way to rationalize it.
I hear ya. Gotta put a $100 a week away for a year!😕
do it in payment plans. there's a handful of stores/sites offering that option

@M Castile Really no interest? What's the benefit for Sweetwater and how do they turn a profit to cover overhead expenses over 4 years?

I want one!
Moog put presets and FX on the VST version of this and I use it all the time. I'd buy a real one if it had this same utility.

First time I've met you! What's your channel about? Programming?
Is this more popular than the Voyager, please?
That should have been the Model E.
They should have included pitch bend range

correct :)
You need to get Rou Reynolds from Enter Shikari to do some videos with you.
