Sorry for the slight motion blur - only realised after I made this public. Forgot to disable resample on the footage when editing (which Vegas likes to enable by default because FML) - which causes this happen.
"A weird vibe" is a good way to put it. Conan's author, Robert E. Howard, built his fantasy world along the lines of modern Europe, through to Eastern Europe and south to North Africa, placing different races more or less where they occurred historically but within his altered geography, in a fictional time set between the fall of Atlantis and the rise of any identifiable modern people about 10,000 BC. His equivalent to Egypt was Stygia, an even more ancient race who worshiped a pantheon of evil gods and who controlled powerful magic. Conan himself is a Cimmerian, who Howard put forward as the very remote ancestors of the Scots and Irish. One of Howard's best friends was H. P. Lovecraft, and you can see bits of Lovecraft's mythos in some of the Conan stories.
0:36 well, the Conans' art style is a sort of "ancient times fantasy" (in contrast to more "Medieval" type like Tolkien or Song of Ice and Fire), so ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia are both implemented. It serves its purpose, since Conan takes place in "alternative pseudo-prehistory". The entire Stygian kingdom is in fact pseudo ancient Egypt (with river Styx being pseudo-Nile)
Thanks for this video, Davey! I'm about to start my own Conan Exiles game, and this is really helpful to see what I might be working toward with a future base build.
norespawns I have been following you since Fallout 4. you are by far my favorite video game "tutorialist" Lol survive and build is my favorite genre. I especially like building and crafting and the immersion overall. I like how u break everything down in simplest form to make the most comprehensive guides and tips! sorry for this being my first comment but I figured this was the best way to show my support and appreciation for what you do! thanks man! keep up the good work! Can't wait to get Conan Exiles! btw I shouted u out on Twitter too! @atpdmv
Funcom has been a great company to talk with since the inception of Anarchy Online, which is still running today, and it's almost as old as Everquest, and older than Everquest 2.
I would argue the case that the last building looks more Warhammer Fantasy than 40K (technically 30k for HH) but I do see your point. Does have a very feudal/gothic vibe to it. Good stuff squire.
norespawns glad to hear. I've been scouring around for some nice looking buildings for this game and haven't found any. Found yours and got instantly mindblown by how beautiful it looks. Keep on goin' Sir Davey!
I'd say the houses are visually more like those of Warhammer's Old World than of the Horus Heresy (IMO). Still, looks like a nifty game - I will continue watching these vids! 👍🏻
If there's anything disappointing about the game it's the lack of any economic component. The only way to get anybody (NPC) to work for you is to enslave them, and their functionality both before and after enslavement is extremely limited. You can have only one follower, for example, so no leading an army of followers on raids. You also can't send out NPCs on their own to gather resources for you, they will only work with the resources you give them (though they will produce refined resources more efficiently than you can on your own). There's no trading of resources... the only way to get resources from an NPC is to pillage their village or loot their bodies. You also can't grow your own resources or get an NPC to grow them for you. Basically you're forced to do all the grinding and building yourself (unless you can play as part of a clan and persuade your clan mates to do all the grinding so you can concentrate on building.) If you play the game without resorting to admin cheats, you're going to have to enjoy hitting lots of trees, rocks, animals and relatively defenseless NPCs that mostly can't put up a decent fight against a heavily armored player. Even with other players the social interactions are pretty limited. You basically have to join a clan in order to coordinate with other players. You can't establish a more multi-level feudal hierarchy based on tribute and mutual defense treaties and land control.
As much as I enjoyed the Conan films, and the old Marvel comics, I will never quite be able to forgive them for imprinting this odd crude item design and desert theme on Conan. The Hyborian world was massive - covering all of modern Europe, Asia, and Africa - and had everything from the stone age tech to that of high medieval France. Yet this one tiny niche, this one very specific aesthetic, has papered over all of that in pretty much every modern interpretation and iteration of Conan.
I like the look of the tiers. I thought that Ark should have went with this tier system instead of metal. I think no matter what you try and do with metal, all the buildings look like horrible box prisons. By the way, do you play Ark and will you do you any builds for it?
Perhaps you should try playing Rust? I feel you might like it feels and sounds similar the community is always thriving, always being updated each week and is generally regarded as a 'social experiment' which is cool as you get a variety of attitudes and emotions more personified in the game? Maybe rabble but if you do manage to try it - always would recommend to anyone.
No Rust as it's just too old to really start on the channel now. It wouldn't attract subs and I really wouldn't have anything new to add to the discussion. I do play Rust personally, though.
Honestly they should just remove explosives and instead replace them with medieval battering rams and that they require many ingredients but also takes damage everytime it rams. Players cant keep nice things ive seen many beautiful creations get destroyed
How did you spawn all of that in the console? I have been looking for admin console guides and I can't for the life of me find any info on how to do that. I want to experiment with the building pieces as well.
just select admin console from the options menu and search via the right side for the items. You have to select the building tab too. Then you just tick the item you want and select spawn.
If it wasn't for the price, I'd get the game. £26 is just too high of an asking price for a game with so little substance right now. I'd understand if they started the price lower and increased it as more was added but the game is not worth the price personally for me right now. Maybe when it's more fleshed out, sure but not now
See I would say that price is bang on - was the same with games like Ark, Rust and DayZ if I'm not mistaken. And it has massive amounts of substance as far as I can tell. They've really gone all out - crafting menu feels complete already and there are loads weapons & armor choices.
Fairly certain Rust and ARK were dead cheap on their initial releases. Didn't touch DayZ because lazy ass fucking developers that introduce one thing and then break fifty. That game has a god awful reputation and they tried to make a quick buck off making a standalone when the mod was good enough. I imagine once this game has expanded further, the price will definitely be worth it. There's a lot of potential for the game. They just need to be active and in touch 24/7 like the ARK devs. If they listen to the community, this game is definitely on for a winner. Time will tell though. Either it'll be a good game or it'll end up as another on the pile of EA Survival flops
I think yes - as Funcom really do seem to be aiming to address early issues asap. This is always the case with games like this where they have server and balancing issues right at the start that get fixed quickly.
Only way your going build cool castles if you just play singlplayer or pvp but know since the game pretty dead you can make castles now on pvp official services but going need a lot of resources
MINI Kitch why? Fallouts been stale for so long, I stopped watching his vids because it was only fallout related. Glad he's playing this I've been with him since 2k I think
Im glad you're not letting everyone tell you what to put on your channel. Love all your content, thanks for putting so much into your builds !
Sorry for the slight motion blur - only realised after I made this public. Forgot to disable resample on the footage when editing (which Vegas likes to enable by default because FML) - which causes this happen.
You have no idea how happy I am to see you playing this. I can't wait to see what you build in this game, esp as it expands. :)
Wow, if they ever make a Warhammer 40K game with a good base building mechanic, this guy will just become a Jizzosaurus Rex.

Probably won't buy this because PS4, but I subbed long ago for Fallout 4 yet I will enjoy watching these videos as well

Just started Conan Exiles and really want to get into the building aspect. I really enjoy you F4 content. Hope to see more Exiles builds.
Thanks for this video, Davey! I'm about to start my own Conan Exiles game, and this is really helpful to see what I might be working toward with a future base build.
Interesting buildings . I like the long house idea .
Your building design very usefull for my solo survival game

Hey, great looking little houses!
I would argue the case that the last building looks more Warhammer Fantasy than 40K (technically 30k for HH) but I do see your point. Does have a very feudal/gothic vibe to it. Good stuff squire.
hey davey, will you continue on these conan videos? I'm really interested in this game and I love how you do your videos
keep up the great work
Yeah that's the aim - it's a new game and like Rust/Ark, looks like it's going to have a solid community around it.
norespawns glad to hear. I've been scouring around for some nice looking buildings for this game and haven't found any.
Found yours and got instantly mindblown by how beautiful it looks. Keep on goin' Sir Davey!
norespawns is this on the computer or console
I'd say the houses are visually more like those of Warhammer's Old World than of the Horus Heresy (IMO).
Still, looks like a nifty game - I will continue watching these vids! 👍🏻
yeah definitely - I imagine there will be fun chaos wastes RP to be had. Without any of that Age of Sigmar bollocks ofc.
norespawns I like Age Of Sigmar though 😱👌🏻
This game looks great! I'm happy you've found it. Is there any settlement mechanics, or just structures? Fallout has me spoiled with my towns people!
There are thralls (NPC people) which you can enslave and have as guards or various different jobs around your base depending on that NPC skill.

I wish Ark Survival Evolved had this kind of building.
< notices uneven, tangential, rafters ... proceeds to curl up and cry >
it's anarchy.
Cool man thats Some good builds when you weren't even trying

How do you get or make reinforced Stone
You should check out Planet Coaster
I got my base on tier 3 right now its O.P
Nice video will u do build videos here like u do on fallout4?
that's the plan!
I like the look of the tiers. I thought that Ark should have went with this tier system instead of metal. I think no matter what you try and do with metal, all the buildings look like horrible box prisons. By the way, do you play Ark and will you do you any builds for it?
TheBeautifulGamer ^*****this. I hate looking at metal buildings.
TheBeautifulGamer ark is absolutely shit. Idk why anyone would play that. Literal garbage imho
Just saw this now and bruh you sound exactly like JordanRants 🤣
Perhaps you should try playing Rust? I want to do coop building, but it seems like everyone gets a chunk of land have you found any way to build guild buildings or anything like that?
Might be you have to be in a clan first - but I'm not sure. I've been playing solo right now.
Jason Henrickson yes when you're in a clan/guild you can build together. When you're in a clan, your building becomes their buildings etc.
How did you spawn all of that in the console? I have been looking for admin console guides and I can't for the life of me find any info on how to do that. I want to experiment with the building pieces as well.

norespawns Thanks. I'll probably wait a little while until they get some of that stuff gets sorted out.
Turn your motion blur off please the entire video is just blurred because your moving so its hard to see stuff in perspective.
Only way your going build cool castles if you just play singlplayer or pvp but know since the game pretty dead you can make castles now on pvp official services but going need a lot of resources
heeeyyy, that's pretty gued
Davey has left us for PC.......
both - they're not football teams.
Are you not allowed support multiple football teams?
+Potema Dunne pretty sure that results in some sort of exile into the desert
Potema Dunne: But...but what would you do when the teams you support play each other?? :P
I don't really like this game, but I love your fallout vids you should just stick to fallout I think
nahh I'll do whatever.
It will die some day. He can't just keep doing only that. Then his channel will die. He has to try new stuff.
That's fine I respect that
MINI Kitch why? Fallouts been stale for so long, I stopped watching his vids because it was only fallout related. Glad he's playing this I've been with him since 2k I think
can be played singleplayer?
yeah - this is singleplayer I'm on right here
Good to know :D
Y am I reminded of Rust?
eyy 40000 rules
i bet you he'll never see this
You think it uses iron? I thought this was a guide
The video is 4 years old you melt.
