Galactosemia is an inborn error of galactose metabolism.
The incidence is 1 in 35,000 births.
Caused by deficiency of enzyme galactose-1- phosphate uridyl transferase The inherited deficiencies of galactokinase and UDPgalactose-4-epimerase also lead to minor types of galactosemia.

Hello sir, I am a medical student of DMSF, We will have case discussions tomorrow regarding this and this really helped me understand a lot. Thank you so much
Glad to hear that Keziah. All the very best for case discussion
Just finished my exam, small quiz in my college about this
Thanks alot , and we'll explained.
I think this video is enough for the exams and understand the main concept 😃.
Well said..thanks again🙏
Wow. Glad to hear that. All the very best for the results
@@Biochemistrybasics yeah I got results 8/10
Still not bad .
Iam still thinking where did I loose 2 marks ,iam confident enough for the answers , but why! How
I really don't know
@@rahuljaganath7457 Dts pretty good
Nicely explained ❤ thanks 👍
Thank you
More case discussion videos plz sir.this was very helpful.
Point noted. Please spare a few minutes and do spread the word about the channel among your batchmates and friends
Thanks sir..... Kl meri biochemistry ki exam hai... Aur aaj puri raat video dekh leta hoon.... Kash pahle drkha hota ☺️
Good abhi pata chal gaya... Dusri exam me bhi kaam lagega... Apne friends ko bhi bolo.... All the very best for exam
@@Biochemistrybasics thank you sir.... Me apne sare mbbs ke frds ko bataunga...☺️
@@SikandarNaik- Thanks dear
Great Video
Thanks sagar. Please spare a few minutes and do spread the word about the channel among your batchmates and friends

Hello Sir, I heard your lecture about cytokine storm for covid patients. Thank you. My father's CRP has come down to 6 and d dimer is 0.7 but his ferrating is close to 1400. He is on 8-10l of oxygen. What si your opinion on it?
Hello Mam. CRP and d dimer both are normal. Ferritin takes times to decrease. Don't worry. Continue the treatment and follow the protocol. He will come out of this with flying colors
Best 👍👍👍
🙏😊
Sir, one video sickle cell Anemia and thalassemia clinical cases and how to differentiate between two.

Sir.....acyl coA and acetyl coA are end product of. B oxidation.....but how it was releted to hypoglycemia
Sorry didn't get the question? Please elaborate
In the sids ...how hypoglycemia is releated to fatty acids cycle
@@shivareddy128 It's due to reduced hepatic glucose output and increase peripheral uptake
Hello, sir. Can you please explain why GALACTOSEMIC PATIENTS TOLERATE MILK AND OTHER GALACTOSE-CONTAINING PRODUCTS ONCE THEY ARE ADULTS?
Because after four years of age alternative pathway by enzyme GALACTOSE 1 PHOSPHATE PYROPHOSPHORYLASE gets operated so they need Lactose free special diet upto 4 years of age.
@@Biochemistrybasics Thank you, sir. Although I'm still a little confused with "operated". Does this mean they use a bypass pathway instead of leloir pathway?
@@Biochemistrybasics Thank you for your reply, sir. I have a report on this tomorrow and I want to make sure I can explain it to my colleagues well, hehe
@@MAMS.mp4 You will do good. All the very best 😊
Sir my son is treated for galactosemia..is it 100%posibilty to a alternate pathway will become active after 4yrs of life.at present he is 3.5month old.And he can take milk and dairy products after 4yrs of life.
