All i have to say is great talent. I grew up playing sports and now i only wish i could play an instrument like that. Now that my 14 year son is son into trumpet and percussion, i am into it. You guys sound awesome and i so appreciate all the time and work put into it!!
The bass fives name is Spencer mast he was my tech for my highschool hella of a guy the best of the best and real down to earth man I miss the old days 😭
Because of the shotgun mic I'm using, I do get more of the bass sound in general while isolating from the rest of the battery, but it definitely picks up the thing that's right in front of it the strongest, which was the bottom two drums in this case. Still experimenting with the best way to record bass drums in a straight line!
DatPyroGuy Although Stick Control was made relatively popular again by the Infinity bassline, it's an exercise that's been around forever and played by countless ensembles and schools. There are videos on UA-cam dating back to 1999 of SCV playing Stick Control. Thanks for watching!
Alex A I live on the west coast so until the very end of the season most of the lot videos will be of California ensembles. Definitely planning on capturing more basslines at WGI Finals, though!
First attack was super dirty, but my real issue is that bass 4 isn’t playing in the center of the head. His hands are set perfectly, then every single note he plays is like 1-2 inches below the center. I’m certain someone has pointed this out to him. Come on bro, easy fix. Aside from initial attack though, still sounded good!

Bass 5's drum sounds so different from the rest lol. Not sure if that's how the mic is picking it up or how it actually sounds
It's just the mic, I was there and the tone coming off of that drum was pretty much in line with the rest of the basses.
