Simone Simons' voice is bright, in parts even cutting like knife through the band and the orchestration. Nothing bad in it, sometimes you want to bring the vocals in the forefront to emphasize the emotion. Her and Floor's voices provided a nice contrast at times, at other times blending perfectly. As far as I know Simone is a mezzosoprano and Floor is a soprano, but Floor went far lower than Simone did, an interesting little detail. The two ladies gave us a magnificent show, and I loved their interaction on the stage. This was to me an unforgettable experience when I first saw it.
'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' is I think a 15th. century religious song, perfectly executed by the lovely Simone Simons and Floor Jansen (not forgetting the orchestra!). It is I think from the same Epica concert as 'Sancta Terra'. You will be in awe with this one.

I am sure I read somewhere that Floor and Simone met when they became college rommates and have been best friends ever since! I love it when a Symphonic Metal bands goes all out with a full orchestra and choir on stage with them. It brings everything to a whole different level. The song is about a suicide bomber who thinks he will end up in heaven but ends up in hell and decides he is happy with it and he is where he should be. This was a 3 hour concert and Simone was 3 months pregnant. Back in those days my Dad was an avid War and Western watcher but I loved the sound of music, the wizard of oz, gone with the wind, and Annie and on T.V. The Waltons, the life and time of grizzly Adams and little house on the prairie just to name a few classics. This is the perfect lead in to Ayreon the Dutch project of Arjen Lucasen. I suggest you start with "The Day The World Breaks Down" (hereafter known as TDTWBD) .....it features both Floor and Simone and Introduces 9 other singers (All amazing and all worth their own rabbit hole )

I absolutely adore Anneke's voice as the first soloist, there's a quality which goes to the soul. Very different form Floor's, but the same caliber. Nice reaction, as usual ^^ ps. As a Dutch child from the late 60's I grew up on German Saturday matinee on TV in the 70' and 80's. Gone With The Wind was a regular re-run back then as well as many Western classics (all dubbed in German ahaha) it wasn't until I was well into my teens when I saw most of these movies again in the original language -- which was quite weird hearing the actors in their own voice.

Jade, they are all mine but I’m mostly proficient on the keys, beginner on drums, a little better on guitar and bass and pretty proficient on sax but I don’t own one right now We have the privilege of living in a house so we can make as much noise as we want!

You could look from the same conzert the song "Stabat Mater Dolorosa", it's a classic song but i like it very much and i think you would like it too. I would like it very much if you could do an reaction from the Epica song "The Skeleton Key", "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3" or "Unchain Utopia", all from the virtual Epica - Omega Alive show they did last year. The whole show is a true masterpiece, i'd buy the DVD for myself at Christmas. I think you would like all songs i wrote.

ps. As a Dutch child from the late 60's I grew up on German Saturday matinee on TV in the 70' and 80's. Gone With The Wind was a regular re-run back then as well as many Western classics (all dubbed in German ahaha) it wasn't until I was well into my teens when I saw most of these movies again in the original language -- which was quite weird hearing the actors in their own voice.

Simone has a wonderful cover and video of Disney's "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid on her channel. And a cover of "This is Halloween" from the movie "A Nightmare before Christmas" which she performs together with her husband (who's the keyboard player, composer from the American band Kamelot), in the song they do many difference voice styles as well. In my opinion they made the best cover of that song heard so far! Would love to hear your thoughts about them!

idk how tall Simone is but she's in heels and she's still 4-5" shorter than Floor who is 6'3"-6'4" in heels.
The only person taller than Floor is her younger sister, Irene who is an inch taller. Check out Ayreon - The Eye of Ra live where you can see the Jansen sisters singing together.
Arjen Lucasen is taller than floor by a fair amount, and a mind blowingly talented musician produ er and composer as well.
