  • On August 15, 2020, Diego Estan reviewed a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 100 stand-mounted speakers for SoundStage! Access and wrote: “[T]he Bronze 100s’ most attractive attribute was their ability to produce a BIG sound from a pair of relatively small boxes -- a sound that was smooth and nonfatiguing, but never dull, dark, or boring. They had enough finesse and refinement for evenings of quiet critical listening, but could party hard when I needed them to. They were easy to listen to.”
    Read the full review here: www.soundstageaccess.com/inde...
    In this video, Jay Lee takes a second look at the 100, Monitor Audio’s largest stand-mounted design in their affordable Bronze series. Priced at $595 per pair in the United States, the Bronze 100 is a two-way design sporting a 1” C-CAM tweeter and an 8" C-CAM midrange-woofer in an attractive cabinet that measures 14.8"H x 9.125"W x 12.8"D. Find out what Jay thinks about the Bronze 100 - and if the speakers, as Diego wrote, will “let your inner rock star out of his or her cage.”

    Thank you so much for this review. I was searching for a pair of speakers for my audio set. My previous speakers were ok, kind of, but I was always playing around with the EQ to make them sound well, depending on the kind of music. After listening to this review and some others about these speakers, I finally decided to buy them. And I'm loving them! They are very versatile, and now I only have to lower the bass one decibel at most on my amplifier for some albums.

    Hello there..nice review once again ..you say that these might not sound the best at low volume's..could you suggest anything else that might work better at low and higher volume's... Thanks.

    You didn't consider the treble overly shrill/aggressive? Multiple reviews have pointed it out... And I experienced it myself with the Monitor Audio 50 in near-field listening. Did you test home theater only or music as well

    I`ve been looking for a speaker with really good bass and I thought this was the right one. But my Denon AVR-X1700 is only 80W and i`m looking for a speaker that would respond well at low volume... any recommendation? Thanks!

    Monitor Audio has doubled the MSRP for it's speakers. It's silver line used to be $599 to start. Bronze line to start with $299. Now the price is doubled from earlier prices. Now Monitor audio used 8 inch as woofer in bookshelf instead of 6.5 inch woofer, still at similar crossover point @ 2300hz. 8 inch woofer will beam significantly than 6.5 inch woofer @ crossover point. I do not know how they overcome the beaming around crossover area. 8 inch woofer will have more bass performance than most bookshelf with 6.5 inch woofer. For people using subwoofers, there no need to have more bass from bookshelf, the focus should be in the mid range performance. 8 inch woofer may sacrifice some mid range to reach done for more bass compared with 6.5 inch woofer. Some people even prefer mid range performance from 5.25 woofer than 6.5 woofer with same design and using same materials.

    I have the bronze 50 fantastic little speakers. I purchased some Elac Debut B5.2 due to their reviews and to be honest I wasn't that impressed so I returned them. I do like the look of the smaller triangles but would they perform better than the bronze 50s probably not. For the money i think monitor audios bronze series are fantastic! enjoyed your review! 👍

    What about the Mission QX-2, how they compare to these Monitor Audio?

    • @xavdeman
      @xavdeman 3 роки тому +1

      The Mission's are much less harsh / shrill. But the Mission QX-2 is not good nearfield (like on a desk), go for Mission X-1 in that case. However, I recommend the Wharfedale EVO series.

    I auditioned these at a hifi shop ond compared to borea br03. This was one of the few times I realised that a new speaker from a big respected company actually sounded pretty poor, they really had a small sound stage, the guy at the shop thought they were ok, (what should he say?) but he agreed that they could not hold a candle to the br03, especially in the sound stage department. But yes they had big bass if that's what one wants. (tested with emotiva xpa gen 3 power amp.)

      Aahh fack.... I got the BRO3s on black friday sale for 360 euro ( discount from 450 euro ) and thought i got the deal of the century lol while the MA Bronze 100s cost 450 euro full price and according to Jay it seems they are even better..... I was looking to get satisfied by the speaker's bass itself in a nearfield 1m listening triangle in a small room without using a sub and it seems the MAs must do the job better with their 8 inch woofer. Was the bass difference that big in your opinion? Was everything else like truly inferior to you ?

    • @reviewmirror591

      @@bloodbathory5624 I can't really say I remember exactly, I only know I got totally blown away by the difference, everything opened up, and was better, imaging, soundstage, details, timbre, depth. Overall a better speaker. In that room and with that electronics at least. I am now a happy camper with a pair of esprit antal from the black friday deal, those blew my qln signatures out of the listening room. You can see my video about them here. I even had the bass upgraded after the video so sonicly they compared to the new signature classic that costs about 3500euros. Triangle really are special.

      Thank you very much for the response! I think i am a bit impulsive and get buyer's remorse fast when seeing something new haha.... Especially after watching cheapaudioman's BRO3s review and this one, though there are quite a few people that had a different experience than cheapaudioman. But anyway for my application i might not need THAT much bass anyways, but a bookshelf having 8 inch woofers is surely impressive. Also i had some people that own the BRO3s confirm to me that they are amazing even for old school death/black metal that i mainly listen to so yeah... I will pair them up with an atoll in50se amplifier i found new at 500 euro and i hope i will have a result that i like. Ofcourse room acoustics and speaker placement play a huge role too... I currently use a pair of active speakers ( Edifier S2000 Pro, the old version ) which i didn't like very much and this is my first try building a real hi-fi system and.... not gonna lie spending this much money on audio is a first for me and i am a bit worried if it was a good decision.... It was either that or upgrading my PC, but the hardware PC market atm is a huge mess so i decided to meddle into the hi-fi realm for once.

      @@bloodbathory5624 I think you will like them! Of course it's always a matter of taste more than anything, I don't get this review of the monitor audio at all. But there is so much to consider, as you say, the room, and the electronics and taste. To sum it up, if you like detail, (not bright thou) if you like a wide scenery like a live performance, and a balanced sound not to forward and in your face like klipsch horn speakers. Not to bassy disco sound speakers, then I think you will be happy. And btw, as I said before, synergy is everything! Don't forget to play around with placement to. Not to close to the wall, different angles. Good luck!

    I have the unfortunate situation where my bookshelves actually have to sit on a bookshelf albeit a very solid one. I was getting some bass bloom, so just for an experiment, I tuned my Elac Debut Reference upside down with the tweeter on the bottom like the Buchardt and some other brands. The whole sound improved and the bass was back in line doing a good job. Something to try. Might improve that slight observation on the Monito Aucios bass. Back in the old day of audio, eight inch two way bookshelf speakers were the norm save LS35A monitor speakers. I have noticed that Tekton has a little eight inch two way bookshelf with the tweeter on the bottom. Huh. Maybe a trend?

    How would you compare this 100 to a pair of BW 606

    • @user-el2zj3pw5r
      @user-el2zj3pw5r 3 роки тому

      I can compare i had both! Bw606 will give you better detail more lively sound, nut once 85-88db they start to struggle abit, and 92/94db they reaching they max for sure. So they really good and go with them rather MA1006G, bw606 box is smaller and more attractive looking. Now MA100 will put a real smile on your face when you turn up the volume, its an 8” woofer and you can tell the difference, it can handle alot of power without fading. And they also play nice, not as clear or sharp as 606, but really is not such difference that now you shouldn’t consider them. Them ma100 boxes are big for bookshelf speakers. So depends what you need and want

    It's kinda sad to see MA going down the route of B&W and Klipsch, with pumped up bass and highs and sucked out mids, because that sounds more detailed to the uneducated masses, and it sounds more impressive in a quick comparison in a store, but in the long run is much less satisfying than a more neutral and better balanced speaker like the older Bronzes, KEFs, and Wharfedales. The old Bronzes had a full and lush midrange and sweet, extended, and balanced high end. But, I guess I can't blame them, 'cause they're getting trounced by B&W and Klipsch, which sell by the boatload to the masses who don't know any better, and have no idea what real music sounds like, as opposed to overproduced pop pablum and hip-hop. I hope that the 50s with their smaller woofer are better. I've always preferred 5" woofers to 6.5" ones for that very reason, they have better mids that aren't sucked out, unlees they're purposely designed that way, like the B&W 600 series.
