This is probably my favorite creepypasta. It’s just so interesting and I love how everyone has their own take on it and has something to add. Great vid Edit: this also gives me everywhere at the end of time vibes
The idea of the Backrooms didn't appeal to me much when I thought it was just level 0, but this video has me hooked! So much lore and creativity here, I'll definitely read up on this, thank you!
Level 9 is the scariest to me, it has giant eyes that watch for wanderers and has SO MANY ENTITIES. And to top it all off, it's a creepy suburb in eternal nighttime.
I was in a coma about 8 months ago... I had this weird experience where I was walking in this endless world of only cubes. It was all wireframe and wherever you look and walk doesn’t matter, up is everywhere. What felt like years was only days and after walking long enough the whole plain just collapsed on me... I don’t know if that’s linked to back rooms... but it sure felt like it
Cool concept but it loses a bit of the scary when you treat it as if things like food and sanity work like stats. It's supposed to be an unfathomable hostile enviroment outside the boundaries of space and time, people made it too much like a game you can beat.
So much like a game. It starts to feel less like an ominous dimension that hints at the unsettling truth of what lies behind our reality and more like an overly-specific obstacle course that was created in some pocket dimension for the sole purpose of putting random humans through the ringer. Complete with gaming guides like this and pick-up items to replenish your health. The granola bar thing will never not be hilarious to me
@@cementarii8458 i found the original concept interesting and unsettling enough, but trying to add too much onto it just makes it ridiculous, sometimes less is more.
No, I’ve been there and seen it, other people must have already lost their sanity, because the description here is completely wrong. It is actually Alastor from Hasbin Hotel.

While I prefer the original backrooms with the vague details and implication that the further you got in levels the more mechanical it became (level 1 faint mechanical sounds, level 2 pipes show up, level 3 unknown, but could be assumed to be more factory-like) I do like the idea of a more expanded backrooms that lets people imagine what they'd do if they wound up there!
@@tahseenkhan3629 SCP didn’t invent collaborative writing projects. Both function essentially as prompts for creative folks to play around with. Let people have fun lol
@@dragonsheen3049 it didnt invent it, and no one made that argument. But the backrooms wiki literally copies the exact structure of the scp forums now. My comment is not going to stop anyone from having their fun, if that's what they like to do, but Im allowed to voice my annoyance with it, and this dude has literally posted this in like 6 top comment chains.
@@dragonsheen3049 Nobody is going to fault people for having fun but it does get a bit off track from how it started. Which explains to why someone might be annoyed. Nowadays is more SCP material with detailed explanations of monsters. Look at the beginning of the backrooms to now. Start: A minimilistic story with not much in sight or why it is the way it is. It only hints at there being monsters but gives no detail on them. It was great to show how you don't need a full explanation to make something scary. It played off the fear of the unknown and how lost you truly were. Now: Full on survival items like almond water which makes it less terrifying knowing you can't die of thirst or hunger. We now have multiple monsters(explanation about them doesn't leave anything to the mind and friendly ones which makes them less terrifying), wifi(which ruins the feel about you being truly alone), and how some people have been able to escape(losing the sense of hopelessness the original post had. Not to mention, there's a full on MC room where you can do anything to the backroom(The Admin) I won't say my opinion is better or worse but both places are in completely different places. And I can see how both are pretty cool concepts but it makes sense why most old fans see it as a SCP knockoff because of where it ended up.
It's hard to expand the backrooms in general without messing shit up (which is what happened). Maybe a story from a person stuck in the backrooms but it's written in the same way that "Help I've been trapped in my bathroom for 30 minutes" story was written would be interesting, but anything that expands past the "Infinite Purgatory Of Moldy Carpets" concepts runs the risk of expanding too much.
It's interesting to see all of the world building but I much prefer the original version where it's just you and an endless expanse of yellow rooms and buzzing lights. The fact that people decided to add all of this stuff like traders and outposts is kind of dumb to me. Like "well if you want to get to this outpost you wanna go down that corridor, take a left, then a right, and then another right." The fact that somehow entire communities can be made from people lost in the backrooms despite the millions of miles of it and your location upon noclipping being entirely random just seems silly. All of this sounds much better as a game given your "sanity meter," having to keep track of the different entities and their abilities, and what resources and outposts can be accessed.
It's not the idea of backrooms specifically existing that scares me, it's the unsettling thought that this is what death might be like. Whether it's just total darkness or endless yellow walls and carpet. To be conscious without anything to engage in other than my own thoughts, trapped in that space, isolated, and for all eternity... I can't imagine a worse hell.
what if the final floor was just a infinitely long turning hallway, and the only way out was to stay sane (many psychological dangers) until you found the exit.
The backrooms stopped being a creepy idea when people tried too hard to make 'levels' and 'creatures' and just endlessly and tediously explaining every little detail. The original creepypasta was kinda spooky, but now its just a bunch of instructions.
Yeah, it's kinda like the natural course for creepy pastas. One gets a spooky and interesting idea, and after one year it's filled with lore that it looses the magic
Having things like "sanity levels" and floors full of snacks or traders just completely ruins it. People are basically trying to turn this into a MMORPG.
For me it was when it went from “accidentally no clipping out of reality” to literally falling asleep to enter/exit. Also when people wrote stories from the perspective of someone entering the back rooms but they just manifested a whole backpack of survival gear/food/guns or some shit. The quality of the content surrounding the back rooms went from a creepy, unnerving, infinitely spanning set of rooms to literally just a easily enterable/exitable place that you could go for fun.
My theory is the the backrooms are the literal backrooms of realty where all the things rejected or not currently being used in this reality are stored. When you noclip away it represents you are taken out of reality and stored in the backrooms. This is also why you feel a sense of nostalgia in level 0. Because this is where you were stored before you were existing, kind of like where you were before you were born. I think maybe the entities are either things waiting to be brought out into reality, kind of like not being born yet. So they are shapeless monsters that barley resemble the things they once were or are to be. Or they could just be outcast/rejects, things reality decided not to include so they were stored away in the backrooms. This is why such impossible things happen in the backrooms. Like physically impossible symmetry, teleportation ect. Because the rules of reality aren't being applied here. Just like how a set to a play doesn't have to be set up when behind the curtains only when it finally pulled out and used, that's when all the laws of reality start to apply. This is all just a dumb theory, y'know trying to intemperate the backrooms in a sort of logical sense
@@supermariobrosbros6152 nah, I was really just hoping for a stretched best case scenario…granted, Sayins are more dangerous, so it’d really come down to a “pick your poison” type scenario?
I didn't see Book 3 or 4, PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME;-; I think infinity train can be more terrifying than Backrooms, in backrooms you "just" have to survive someway, but the levels are the same, you have only one objective, doesn't matter how you'll do it. But in Infinity Train you have to survive AND do the "Therapy", have to fight against your biggest fears, emotions and sins have to understand how to get out of the train or dying without understand, after understand what to do you need to change your own personality and emotion(that can be very hard depending of who you are and what the train want to change), Also maybe you'll have to do horrible things(wanting or not wanting) like on the second book you need to understand the wagon and get lucky enough to never fail a "1 chance wagon" and if you get stucked in a 1 chance wagon, you have to be lucky enough to other person finds you AND get lucky enogh to this person be good and helps you...AAAND talking about luck, just hope that the Conductor is One-One and he's fine. In infinity train you just can't escape, if you try it, you have 99,9% chance to be eaten alive Believing or not, Infinity Train can be a horrible place. In every book(1-2, I never saw the third one), almost every wagon was nice, cute, funny or something like that. But that's because is a cartoon, the most brutal scene that I saw in entire Cartoon Network was in second book and was hardly censored, but that scene was just the tip of the iceberg, we'll never see the horrible wagons, situations and histories in this cartoon try to imagine it in the real world, where you'll need to face really bad people(created by the train or not), bad situations, wagons that you just wouldn't find the exit, gangs, is impossible to know what will happens in the next wagon, what threats you can find, how to escape, etc And possibly doing everything alone... Wow, sorry for the bible, I just love Infinity Train mythology (Aaaand sorry for the bad english)
Personally having multiple creatures breaks the immersion of it. It would be a lot scarier if it was a singular interdimensional being that shared the qualities of all of these creatures and stalked you from floor to floor.
Outlast, it may not be a backrooms game but the whole asylum just feels like the backrooms an you gotta find your way out from all the crazy patients trying to kill you

The doors will close, and then open, immediately step out and you will see that you are at the place where you entered the backrooms. Just dont miss-type it. If you do the elevator will not open, and you WILL die.
I’ve never heard these descriptions before! I thought the backrooms would become less scary if it was explained (and therefore less mysterious) but it actually got more scary with these added details. The part with the water reminds me a lot of the Dogscape though, where it rains either blood, water, or fish-water. The latter two are drinkable but fish-water tastes as nasty as it sounds.
The other 1000 levels are quite bad. I happy most of the internet decided that there are only 8 levels and a few sub levels. I do quite like the grass field level though.
I can’t even tell you how many hours I’ve wasted just reading through as much of the Backrooms wiki as I could, and every hour was worth it tbh :) there are a few levels in particular that sound so horrible and mortifying and I love the concept so much ahh
I wouldn't recommend doing that. You have a very very VERY little chance to noclip into reality. And if you try to noclip into reality, you might end up nocllpping in the even more dangerous levels
@Tabasco Sauce Man imagine being the guy that saw the death% speedrun. On the verge of snapping running from a hound and you turn around and see a random guy pop into existence and smack into it
A very important notice that is completely left out in this video and most of the website linked that is common in the "fandom" is that having any weapon and being ready to use it, as well as showing it to the entities makes them afraid of you, as none of them are capable of learning new things, so fighting with anyone who is capable of defending themselves at all is something they avoid at all costs... It's often hinted by people who used their belt, a knife or a broken glass bottle to defend themselves. Making loud "battle noises" also helps. The main problem with doing that on floors like "lights out" and "flooded house" is that you will most likely be seen as "another monster" if you ever find a human and that will likely result in either both of you actually fighting, or at least one of you dropping the play which can result in loss of confidence in the act which will make the entities not afraid anymore...

The idea of the Backrooms didn't appeal to me much when I thought it was just level 0, but this video has me hooked! So much lore and creativity here, I'll definitely read up on this, thank you!
check out the wiki, the community has made hundreds of interesting levels! level 666 doesn't count though.
Level 6.1 is my favorite
Level 9 is the scariest to me, it has giant eyes that watch for wanderers and has SO MANY ENTITIES. And to top it all off, it's a creepy suburb in eternal nighttime.
I actually prefer the original idea..

@Huseyn Mammadov Then you take off the VR set and you are still there
Well you do need some rest after some levels, right?
So much like a game. It starts to feel less like an ominous dimension that hints at the unsettling truth of what lies behind our reality and more like an overly-specific obstacle course that was created in some pocket dimension for the sole purpose of putting random humans through the ringer. Complete with gaming guides like this and pick-up items to replenish your health. The granola bar thing will never not be hilarious to me
@@calebalwayswill7423 yea the first few levels were fine for me but at some point this felt way too gamey for me and ruined everything

Look up the backrooms wikidot, it has hundreds of detailed articles on different levels and entities.
@@huntermorris8308 no. The backrooms didnt need to become a knockoff scp forum.
Not to mention, there's a full on MC room where you can do anything to the backroom(The Admin)
I won't say my opinion is better or worse but both places are in completely different places. And I can see how both are pretty cool concepts but it makes sense why most old fans see it as a SCP knockoff because of where it ended up.
This was not the ideal way for the backrooms universe to be expanded.

The backrooms stopped being a creepy idea when people tried too hard to make 'levels' and 'creatures' and just endlessly and tediously explaining every little detail. The original creepypasta was kinda spooky, but now its just a bunch of instructions.
Completely agreed
Yeah, it's kinda like the natural course for creepy pastas. One gets a spooky and interesting idea, and after one year it's filled with lore that it looses the magic
Im usually a fan of expansion on these kinds of things and lore but I completely agree here.

This is all just a dumb theory, y'know trying to intemperate the backrooms in a sort of logical sense

this reminds me of the show Infinity Train except the back rooms are probably more dangerous and you are definitely more likely to die
And the worst part, theres no therapy
Big train
Multi level universal building word dimension
Whats the difference
The difference is that the train acctualy gives you therapy
I didn't see Book 3 or 4, PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME;-;
I think infinity train can be more terrifying than Backrooms, in backrooms you "just" have to survive someway, but the levels are the same, you have only one objective, doesn't matter how you'll do it.
In infinity train you just can't escape, if you try it, you have 99,9% chance to be eaten alive
Believing or not, Infinity Train can be a horrible place.
Wow, sorry for the bible, I just love Infinity Train mythology
(Aaaand sorry for the bad english)
Thank you.

How are you not extremely popular, this video is so good!
Another amazing vid! God I love the content you're putting out! Please keep going!
