Niomi! When you first open the seed packet, soak the seeds overnight or for 8 hours or so (like the 1st picture on the box shows.) This will activate the seeds. After that, drain the seeds and let sit for 6-7 days (it helps if they're in the sun.) However, you need to fill the germinator with water and drain immediately every day. This way the seeds get the daily moisture they need to sprout - because you're absolutely right, they will not sprout if they are too dry (but they will rot if you leave them sitting in stagnant water.) Hope this helps!

have you tried turning your laptop off like not just shutting it but turning it off? sometimes not doing that makes it slow and the laptop does not recognise anything where you would plug the usb things in. so dont worry about mercury. if turning it on and off does not work take it to an apple store or if you have a back up of your data reset the whole system. good luck most times the problem is just that simple :)

Translated from German, what you are supposed to do with the bioSnacky is this:
    1. Rinse the glass with cold water. 2. Put the seeds in the glass, put the sieve on, fill with cold water and drain immediately. 3. Fill with cold water again until the seeds are all covered. The glass should be located in a bright spot without direct sunlight and a temperature between 18-22°C. Move seeds from time to time. The soaking time depends on the kind of seeds you are using and should be between 4 and 12 hours. 4. Rinse with fresh water twice daily and drain immediately. Leave the glass tilted so the rest of the water can run out. 5. Continue with 4. until the sprouts can be harvested. You can't use this glass for cress and arugula.
    Hope this helps :)

Hi Niomi, my mother has a Germinator and she puts it up side down like you did on yesterday's vlog ! Here are the steps :
    - Put your seeds in and fill the germinator with water
    - Let the seeds soak for one night
    - Turn the germinator up side down to let the water drain
    - Rince your seeds twice a day with water, drain the water and put the germinator back in place on its base
It works really well and it's so fun to make your own sprouts ! Hopefully it will work for you ;) kisses from Paris Niomi take care beautiful

for the germination: first you have so soak the seeds for a couple of hours or over night. Then drain them and place the glass upside down like shown on this package. after that i rinse the seeds everyday and drain immediately. if the seeds are too wet they are going to get moldy. if they are a little damp all the time you will get nice sprouts after about 5 days

  • @wiebki
    @wiebki 6 років тому +21

Here is how to use the germinator: rinse the seeds, soak them for 5 to 8 hours, drain the water, rinse again, tip it upside down so the rest of the water can drain (like leave it standing on the little stand like you did the first time). Rinse them twice a day and leave them upside down until they have sprouted. Enjoy. Germinating expert from Germany here, so I hope this helps 🤗

I grow sprouts quite often. It's rinse, soak overnight. Drain, rinse, leave to drain on its side. I rinse my sprouts 2x a day. You have to keep them damp but not sitting in water because they will rot that way. It takes 5-7 days. Should be left in a dark cupboard not in sunlight until they are full size then in the sun 1 day to green up. They are delicious!

  • @patriciablancopena4581

I use that same germinator. You just have to put water and rinse it inmediatelly and leave the jar in the 45 degree position. You have to do that twice a day, morning and night to keep the seeds wet. You do that every day until you get the seeds sprouted as you wish. Hope it helps.

About retrograde: Basically what's actually happening is mercury is lapping the earth (or vice versa can't remember which way round...one travels faster than the other)... So like when you're on the motorway...and A car overtakes you or you it...at one point it can look as though you or the other car are travelling backwards. Then as it or you overtake...there is a huge force...the car can even wobble...its like vvvoooom! Well imagine THAT on a planetary scale. Mercury is the planet of communication according to astrology too. Basically scientifically there literally is an impact and it can cause technology and travel issues and due to the nature of mercury according to astrology that's why it can cause communication issues. Have double compassion for yourself and others at this time...things can easily be taken out of context or easily become dramatic. I personally am physically SO sensitive to mercury retrogrades. I often feel depleted and tired the first and last few days. I get a specific feeling in my body ...i never used to even know about retrograde but I kept getting the same feeling and things happen a few times a year and one time I typed into google...why do I feel so weird right now and all this stuff about retrograde came up. Now my body tells me it's about to happen and I Google it and sure enough it's about to begin. It's about embracing it. Slowing down and doing a bit of extra planning and make sure you have plan B's sorted. Some of us are more sensitive to it than others physically and emotionally. Anyone who says a planet lapping another planet has no impact doesn't understand real science. Of course it does. Hope this helped. Much love ♡

Normally don't comment but as I sell germinator at work, it might be helpful :) You need to rinse them at the beginning as the notice says then tilt the jar as you did at the beginning and THEN twice a day you need to rinse them :) but don't let them soak in the water all the time! Hope I was clear enough haha xx 😘

Niomi - soak the seeds overnight and then drain. Everyday wash the seeds through, drain and turn upside down and then they will sprout in about 3 - 4 days. Alfafa seeds sprout pretty quickly. You need to make sure the seeds don't dry out.

I have this sprouting jar, too. It‘s really easy to use!
    1. Soak the seeds as instructed on the seed package
    2. Drain them, as instructed on the jar package
    3. Put the jar upside down on a plate
    4. Every day open the jar and rinse the seeds with lukewarm water. Put the sieve back on and drain the excess water. Then let the jar sit upside down on a plate again
    5. Depending on the seeds, you should be able to harvest your sprouts within 3 to 7 days.

For the seed usually you're meant to soak the seed for 12to 24 hours, then drain them, put them down in your thing there and water them every now and them, maybe once a day, just like put water in and drain it right away the water will stay in between the seeds.

Sprouts should be kind of dry - more damp than soaked - in order to sprout! :) A lot of other kits recommend just spritzing them with water from a spray bottle because that's all they need. Sprouts also have a tendency to mold very quickly once they're sprouted so only sprout the seeds as you'll eat them so they don't go to waste. Hope that helps!

Hi Niomi, I had germinate some sprouts before, though I don't have the container like you do, here is how I did it:
    - soak the sprout ( just need to submerged the sprout) fr 3-5 minutes
    - drain the water and place the container in a dark place. This step is important in germinating
    - repeat the soak- drain every 4-5 hours ( you don't have to soak this time, just wet the sprout is good)
    - the seeds should start germinating after 2-3 days. Then you can move it out of the dark spot
    Good luck!

The 2, night and morning rince the alfalfa with water so that it stays hydrated and leave the jarr upside down. 3 repeat for about 5 or 7 days and it'it's good . Love :)

Exactly! that's how we used to do it at school when we were doing biology of plants! a bit of cotton-wool at the bottom with water (squeeze excess off) and spread the seeds - we used empty yoghurt tubs back then!

  • @FreshtoDeathFitness
    @FreshtoDeathFitness 6 років тому

I've never sprouted alfalfa, but I have sprouted fenugreek seeds several times and it's super easy! All I do is put about a teaspoon of the seeds in a glass and fill it with water. Then, I let it sit like that for about 24 hours. I drain it and rinse and drain again. After that, I just rinse the seeds and drain them once daily until they are as sprouted as I like them to be. A good technique for draining them so they don't spill out of the glass with all the water is to use one of the foot portions of an unused pantyhose stretched tight across the top of the glass. My sprouts have always turned out perfectly doing this! Good luck!

The mercury and technology issue is so strange! I have been having SO many issues since the beginning of December too which I haven't had before!!! That is so crazy. I am not very into these theories either, but I am becoming more aware of them. Apparently some people emit more energy or absorb more radioactive rays/electromagnetic rays than others, and I find that I personally stop technology from working ALL the time. There have been multiple times when I enter a computer lab room with an individual computer for each person, with the whole room full to take tests, and my computer won't work. Only mine. That's happened multiple times. My digital watches break. Internet stops working for people and cell phone service decreases when I am around people. At first, I thought this was ironic, but I became aware of it and some people told me about it, and now it's too common to deny it's true for me. I was even in Sephora the other day and their computer stopped working when I was using it with the worker there, and she never saw that happen before. Different people emit or absorb energy or rays somehow that prevent technology from working properly. It has to be.

You're meant to soak the seeds overnight (when you first open the seed packet), then drain the water out the next day. Rinse the seeds and drain twice a day to keep the seeds moist. They will start sprouting by day 3-4. It is very easy just have to remember to rinse them twice a day.

Niomi! To germinate sprouts you do only rinse them a bit and let them sit. It seems a bit illogical but its so easy- just let them sit drying for several days- if they are wet they can get slimy and moldy. Just let them sit alone and dry like you initially had it!

@Niomi, at first you need to soak the seeds for 4-12 hours (it depends on the seeds). After this you drain off all the water and let the glas upside down till the next day (the moisture is then enough till the next day!). on the next day you fill the glass again with fresh cold water for rinsing the seeds and drain off the water immediately (then glass again upside down till the next day). this procedure of rinsing you repeat for the next days. After 6 days you can pick the germlings!

    Hi Niomi, hope this helps...
Normally, seeds will start to crack and show the first tap root (white hair like root) within 24 to 48 hours after you start the germination process. Don't give up if you don't see germination in 3 days or more because some seeds may take up to 7 days or more to germinate.

First, environmental conditions must trigger the seed to grow. Usually, this is determined by how deep the seed is planted, water availability, and temperature. When water is plentiful, the seed fills with water in a processcalled imbibition.
Im not sure if that all makes sense but I think you're right to fill the jar up to that point you see on the box and make sure it like the temperature of the room you're leaving it in to grow :)

Buy a book on sprouting; different seeds take different times to germinate and require different soaking times.

Niomi! I’ve done the exact germinator a few years ago and found the instructions very confusing! I had success but it was much work. (There should be a separate section in the book talking specifically about watering w what seeds you’re using) BUT what I did was, leant it on the flat part of the arm...(not how you have done it at the beginning, it should be that the seeds sit at the bottom of the jar and the grate is at the top, but of course angled slightly as it rests on the flat part of the arm) rinsing and straining daily (so that they’re still damp but not soaked) until they sprout. After 3 days (or when they’ve started to sprout) leave it on the edge of the arm like you had it, or like the picture on the box. Hopefully you should be able to harvest them after a week. And consume quickly as they go off within a week, bad germs then! Crossing my fingers it works out for you!

The seeds sprout by themselves in a moist environment. You have too much water in the jar! The reason why you need to drain the water is so that mold doesn't grow. I hope it does works out! :)

you don't need that expensive glass bottle to germinate seeds....just lay few paper tissues soaked with water on a plate and lay your soaked seeds on them.keep for few days...spray some water everyday to keep the tissues moist...

I'm going to have to quote Carl Sagan here: “How could the rising of Mars at the moment of my birth affect me, then or now? I was born in a closed room. Light from Mars couldn’t get in. The only influence of Mars which could affect me was its gravity. But the gravitational pull of the obstetrician was much larger than the gravitational influence of Mars. Mars is a lot more massive, but the obstetrician was much closer.”
Babe, you are smarter than Mercury in retrograde.

I'm not sure, but I think with the germinator, you should soak the seeds in an inch or so or water for about 6 hours, then tip the jar upside down so the water can drain completely and then stand it upright again and let the seeds start to sprout over the next couple of days. Another video I've seen said you should continue to rinse and drain the seeds every day to avoid having them go "funky" or rotten, but only if it's hot and humid in your home. There's probably no need during the winter to worry about that. After 4-5 days, your jar should be jam-packed with sprouts. :)

Hi Niomi, you should really watch some sprouting videos on youtube. You aren't supposed to leave the seeds sitting in water because they can grow mold- you definitely don't want to ingest that!
