🔴 Wee Information Correction 🔴 I made a mistake saying we don't know why Northern Lights/Aurora's occurr irl. The Mystery should more be why do they only occur in Hebra! 🥶
This is a very interesting question. This would qualify as a "Discrete Aurora." This is not something we find on Earth, but they have been seen on Mars. Discrete Auroras are seen in areas of localized crustal magnetic fields. Something within Hebra is generating a magnetic field. It could be natural or artificial. The divine beasts could be used to do this. You would need to super heat a ferromagnetic material (the rock of the mountain) while applying a direct electric current, followed by rapid cooling. This would be possible if Vah Naboris fired lightening at Hebra at the same time Vah Medoh fired its laser. The molten rock at the peak would align with the direct current from the lightening. It would need to be rapidly cooled for the magnetism to be made permanent. Cryonis attacks from Vah Ruta would do exactly that. This suggests that the scar on Hebra was no accident. Perhaps they transformed Hebra peak into a magnet 10,000 years ago in the heat of battle. It is conceivable that such an event was a climax of that battle, and perhaps that is what really freaked the royal family out when it came to the power of the Ancient Sheikah tech. Very interesting indeed. Thank you for making this video!
@HyruleGamer I want thank you for all your videos. Zelda has been my all time favorite game series since it first came out back in the 80's. Merry Christmas my friend.
My favourite place in Hebra is the secret mushroom cave full of crystals! It's just insanely different to any other location and the quest sufficiently tricky that it's breathtaking once you finally discover it.
I’ve always felt like Hebra’s desolation and solitude makes it seem like it has a long history that it is hiding from us under the snow. Love that you covered the region!
Little Footnote for the Leviathan bones segment, The Eldin Skeleton is Levias. It bears the closest resemblance to our old friend from the Era of the Skies, and even has his big flat head (And the Concept art looks even MORE like how Levias did in Skyward Sword). "Leviathan" seems to just be the in-universe name for the giant whales seen throughout the series; Levias, Jabu Jabu and Jabun, the Wind Fish, and Oshus. The Hebra Skeleton doesn't share any features with any of the giant whales we've met in the series. The Gerudo Skeleton has what seems to be wing-bones on top, implying that it's the Wind Fish, and Eldin is all but officially confirmed to be Levias's remains, but the Hebra fossil doesn't look like any of the franchise's great whales. It's way too big to be Jabu Jabu, lacks Jabun's Angler Lure, and while once could make the argument for it being Oshus, I don't think it fits. Oshus (AKA the Ocean King) exists in another world, and is a completely different species of whale from the others. Oshus is a Sperm Whale, fitting for his nemesis being an evil Squid, and Sperm Whale Skulls look completely different from the Hebra Skeleton. The Hebra Skeleton has what seems to be a horn on its head, meanwhile Sperm Whale skulls look concave (look up an image, it's wild to look at), and Oshus himself lacks horns of any kind.
I just love how alive BOTW Hyrule is, it feels so real. I hope you do Satori Mountain next, it's one of my favourite locations in BOTW/TOTK and Merry Christmas!
I think it's very likely the lake was intended as a dig site, because while the main writing of the wild games didn't have a ton of thought put into it the map designers were a separate team known for their environmental storytelling, even if the story team didn't intend for it the map designers almost surely did
Really appreciate you still making videos! Hebra was so much fun to explore in BotW because of how hostile it was. It felt like I had to earn every inch, and they didn't forget to put little things around the place for me to find.
Well, ain't THAT a Christmas present! I love Zelda theories, especially because there always seems to be more of them to discover, and they're always (at least somewhat) interesting, like that "Lake Kilsie is an excavation site" one!
We actually do know a bit of when the temples were created since we have the sage awakening cutscenes where they show Zelda visiting each sage in there respective temple. Knowing that there’s no way the stormwind arc or any of the other temples were created during the ancient Sheikah age nor during the rise of the calamity from 10,000 years ago and instead took place sometime during the age of the Zonai. Capburgeon makes a point during his dungeon analysis that the temples seem to have each races ancient architecture mixed with Zonai tech. And are also guarded by Zonai constructs. Which makes me believe these were made in collaboration with the ancient Zonai civilization.
another theory i've heard for the secluded lake (although I dont think it's too likely considering general location etc, though given map wierdness in Zelda you never know) is that it is possibly meant to represent the lake atop OoT's Zora's Domain, where you find Jabu Jabu as child Link and the Ice Cavern as adult.
What are the implications that the a Zonai construct was able to provide Link with Ancient Blades in the Depths in Tears of the Kingdom? I'm waiting to watch your take on that!
What a great video this was Hyrule Gamer. I surely enjoyed it as every video that I watch about Zelda just brings Nostalgia bk for me. It just reminds me of how great life was bk then with not a care in the world while growing up playing Zelda in the 80's. Y'all have no clue how lucky you are coming to UA-cam to find something out. Bk then, we had to use our brains and wits with our friends to beat the game. MY MY how time has flied for me. In my 40's and still enjoy watching, playing and even listening to Zelda Theories that make you think even more about a place that you visit while playing. Today, I've got 2 munchkins that are realizing how special Zelda was to Daddy when I was there age! +2 Hyrule Gamer
In case you haven’t already, there’s a book in the wood cabin at the beginning of the Hebra Mountain trail. It has a copy of the song the Rito children sing, and it gives a bit more information on the legend of where the Stormwind Ark came from. Hopefully this is helpful! Sorry if you already knew this 😅
Actually the cause of auroras is very well known. It's caused by charged particles from the solar wind getting caught in Earth's magnetic field. Because of how magnetic fields work, the particles get drawn to the poles, where they collide with oxygen and nitrogen in the upper atmosphere, which causes the electrons in those atoms to jump to a higher energy state. When they return to the ground state, they release the light that we see. Electric charge, magnetism, and light are all the same thing, just seen from different perspectives. That's why it's called electromagnetism. Since Hyrule has a sun, and compasses work, that implies it also has a magentic field, so it's probably the same process.
Thanks for the videos as always Hyrule! I really like the mystery of the Leviathans, they look soo cool in wilds games and really add a touch to the atmosphere. It really makes you wonder what they looked like when they were around
There's a book in the Hebra Trailhead Lodge in TotK that details the full Stormwind Ark legend. It actually seems to originate from when the Zonai still lived in the sky.
I understand going crazy over small details. My current obsession is a single wall in Elden Ring. Just a wall outside a castle. It has driven me a little crazy.
Maybe the storm wind ark was made by the ancient rito before a previous upheaval, and the sheikah took inspiration from it for Vah Medoh, another giant flying ship. Another possibility is they could be referring to the flood in windwaker as the previous upheaval. It would explain why it’s a flying ship, seeing as the rito evolved from the Zora
Released 4 hours ago and already nearly 5k views. Nice to see these games getting attention, glad I'm not the only one still playing. Gonna start another 100% BotW after I finish ToTK.
It’s fascinating on the ship theory. The only 2 times we see the Rito as we know them are wind waker and BOTW/TOTK. Since we don’t know exactly how far into the future TOTK/BOTW take place compared to wind waker, twilight princess and ocarina of time. So my first thought is maybe WWs rito built it for whatever reason but was lost to time. The only other thought is that it was a tribe of Rito we never get to see.
I don’t know if someone already pointed this out, but I happen to know for sure that you’re wrong about the hearty salmon only appearing near Rito Village. They’re also near the docks in Hyrule Castle. At least they are in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I’m not sure, but I would imagine that they’re there in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom too.
I have an actual answer to one of the mysteries. the hot springs, Idk which one it was, but one of them was discovered 100 years ago and was named after the traveler who found it. This is the in one of the prompts for the item upgrade quests in Age of Calamity.
Fun fact the great horned rhinoceros was removed in TOTK and is exclusive to BOTW I’m not really sure why but it’d be cool if u made a mini theory about it👍
I fivured that va medoe was found in well a meadow, it has an interesting detail on its back that being the grass/moss and the stone pillars, it looks similar to the area south east of rito village now that lake could have been a dig site but i dont think it was where they found it.
in real life we know exactly what causes auroras… …and in the game is doesn’t really make sense that they’d appear only in Hebra, and not the other northern regions 🤷🏻♂️
@ - ions from solar winds (electrons, mainly, I think? 🤔) are captured by the Earth’s magnetosphere and are funneled by it to the poles, and when they impact the atmosphere, the intense energy transfer causes the atmospheric elements to fluoresce… or something like that 🤷🏻♂️ I think the different colors depends on the sort of atmospheric element being impacted. it’s neat stuff 👍 the Earth’s magnetosphere emanates from the poles, so that’s why we only see auroras in the far north and south, so technically if there’s auroras in Hebra, then they should be visible all around the north of Hyrule… or maybe that implies that the planet that Hyrule exists on has an extremely tilted axis? or maybe that the maps are just tilted for some reason? seems like there’s some crazy _Zelda_ theory fodder in there somewhere 😂
Another information correction to add is that the Calamity of 10,000 years ago is not "the first" like you said in the video at 10:35. That's just one of them. The Divine Beasts and guardians were created to ensure the safety of the land should Calamity Ganon ever return.
