I’m pleased/appalled that your analysis confirms my growing sense that Arishem is gravitating towards a new toxic build. Seeing more and more Leech and Doc Ock in my matches. I don’t think it’s catastrophic doomsaying to predict that this quickly goes wider, it’s just a very effective way to take the archetype. But man, I do not want to be playing against it more than occasionally.
Just had a really nice climb through the 90s to infinite with your Viper Control deck. The combination of clog and Goose performed really well for me against all the Arishem decks. Thank you!
My preferred solve for this is moving leech to be visible on the board, and then mess with on-reveals on the following turn so you can change the locations you deploy to. There was a version close to that before, but with the old behavior the effected ongoing cards as well
I put Leech and Alioth in my Arishem deck since day1 cause I knew I can handle one Darkhawk but not two, so I’m actually surprise that it takes so long for people to start putting them in the deck. And here is my opinion about Arishem: I do not deny that Arishem is very interesting, and Darkhawk or Cassandra can indeed effectively counter him. However, I think Arishem is still generally stronger than other decks without DH or Cassandra cause the Ramp power. So when the situation becomes such that almost every deck needs to use a slot to include DH or Cassandra, it makes the game unhealthy and also limited their design space. Therefore, my suggestion is to change Arishem’s text to the following: “At the start of the game, +1 Max Energy. Transform 6 other cards in your deck into random cards.” This change retains the fun aspect of having more than half of Arishem’s deck be random, while also nerfing Arishem because the chance you draw each original card will drop from 45.8%(11/24) to 41.7%(5/12) (a 4% decreasing is huge, for comparison, the og Chavez provided an average 4.5% increase.) Additionally, Blob will no longer work with Arishem. This also addresses the “must have DH/Cassandra” issue. Finally, this adjustment leaves room to balance Arishem, as we can tweak the number of cards transformed to balance his strength. (I think we may finally need to adjust him to transform 7 cards)
I’ve been playing my own build of Spectrum Ongoing (don’t own Jean Grey), and I just keep winning games. Totally underrated archetype. Asgardian Lockjaw is also an easy deck to snap and retreat with.

Go tall in another lane with Cap, Antman, Onslaught. Nothing special, just easy to pilot and snap with.
I know you haven't been playing much Arishem, Jeff, but do you have any input on if Quinjet is actually good in the deck? I almost always have enough energy to play my cards without it, and anytime it's drawn after turn 2 it feels just awful, but it does seem pretty strong with cards like Nick Fury and Agent Coulson. Just feels like it should be a strong 3.
@@MandaLoreal People on reddit and twitter often complain about Loki being powerful (less than they used to) when the decks actually do pretty weak. People don't like being beaten by their own cards though lol
Oh I know the answer to this one! Jeff often says when making substitutions for decks to first look at cards that cost the same and do something similar, so you'd want to replace Loki with a 4 cost card that generates plays for you. Thinking about 4 cost cards that add cards that aren't in the list already I'd recommend white queen as a 4 cost that gives you a resource. Alternatively any 4 cost you like would probably be fine it's already running a bunch of tech cards though. Also white queen has synergy with quinnjet.
Arishem decks becoming even more toxic to deal with...this meta is rough for me. I don't enjoy playing blindly against a deck with both a knowledge and tempo advantage. At least when lockdown/Thanos/etc were popular I knew what to play around, I know Arishem's power level isn't the same, but these play patterns and his popularity are making Snap WAY less fun for me. Honestly, I don't want to be the grumpy gamer here! I'm just struggling to find the fun against Arishem.
I've been messing with an Arishem deck that's mostly Guardians of the Galaxy with some lockout cards like Storm, Jean Grey, and Cosmo. It's been fun but not meta-breaking.
Pulling four cards is such a flavor win SD prob won’t change him. Also this is first time Doc has been a problem, so seems likely Arishem gets changed first
Every time I see a commenter make a nerf suggestion I am so happy SD actually knows what it's doing. If we let the players decide the balance this game would be dead within a month 😂

Doc Oc has always been a powerful, polarizing card that people haven't understood. Arishem just makes it a touch easier to play correctly.
