If you want your portfolio yields to hit 3k, you should put that 40k projected deposits into SCHD with its 3.6 yield. Your portfolio allocation has 70% into VOO. VOO only has a 1.2% yield.
Can you help me understand why younger ppl would invest in dividend vs growth instead of just growth and then converting to dividend when it’s closer to retirement time?
Going for growth then converting to dividends later is definitely a great strategy it just depends on the person and their risk tolerance. One aspect of converting to dividends by selling growth that can be stressful is sequence of return risk. For example if someone invested in growth and wanted to sell for a couple of years to convert to dividends in the years 2000-2002 then they would be selling as their portfolio is tanking so their dividend income might have ended up lower than just owning dividend stocks the entire time. Also when you go to convert to dividends if you’re in a high tax bracket that could cause a big dent in your portfolio so it mainly depends on risk tolerance and tax situation!
@ thanks for the great info. All of my investments are in 401ks or IRAs so converting I think is more friendly tax wise. My wife and I are 40 with about 500k with 90% in S&P 500 or vanguard growth with 5% cash and 5% bond index. Starting to think I need to diversify into Dividends and also get brokerage account going.
What a good strategy my friend, look I have 10K, I want to start with Voo, schd and qqqm or schg, do I need to start spending all my 10K investing, and keep buying monthly or use that 10K monthly, when I finish I can buy more dollars and invest more? I'm from Brazil, because of this the question
History suggests throwing all your money in at once is better than putting money in over time but psychologically throwing money in is less stressful. So whatever you think is best!
Great video, your goal seems attainable, even though you'll need to stay focused! My goal is a stretch for sure even if the market helps me. I want to get to $75k portfolio, around $55k now. But need to keep in mind that my salary is about €20k per year, so we'll see how that goes for me 😅
Agreed gotta stay focused and consistent! I think if the market does well you could definitely get to that goal with consistency but better to shoot for the stars and land on the moon than nothing at all! Thanks for the support!
My goal for 2025 is to get my portfolio to $500. Small but still trying! 💪
You got this! Stay consistent and it will happen.👍
great video and great goals! I really like your strategy and your portfolio updates.
Hey thanks for the support I really appreciate it.

True SCHD would definitely get me there if I focused on it.
Go for 150K! Even if you dont hit it, you'll still do better than the previous year. Keep up the great numbers JP!
Agreed big time! Thanks for the support I appreciate it👍💰
