    The main reason I like Food Warsis this, it is actually accurate: the dishes they create can be done in real life, and the things they talk about are actually true in the cullinary word. As a person who loves to cook and eat I really enjoyed every single episode of it so far. It also has some pretty good humor to it (but of course that is subjective). If you want to find an interesting recipe to try and make at home or impress your friends with, watch a few episodes of it, you will definetly find something that gets you noggin' joggin' as well as your tummy go yummy,

    The main reason I follow a few channels like this is to get tips on good shows. I have barely enough time to watch anime as is, much less sort countless shows to find something good. This is entertaining to watch and a true community service, never stop making your reviews. :D

    • @GlassReflection
      @GlassReflection  6 років тому +77

      Legend of the Galactic Heroes is less of a show that anyone can recommend, and more of one that people need to find on their own.
      The pilgrimage to watch it must be started of one's own volition.....at least until I can get a solid video written up for it, but considering the franchises length that'll take awhile XD

    • @megankillerby3707
      @megankillerby3707 6 років тому +17

      Hmm, that's a fair approach to the antiquated 110-ep old series (we fans have been constantly telling people to watch it for years and it has such a high MAL rating, but we've had relatively little success tbh), but the new one is (currently) just 12 episodes long and has a much more modern and easy to approach style. Right now it's probably the best way to get people into the series. It's your call what you put in your video ofcourse, but I think it atleast deserved a mention on a best of list like this.

    • @TheJuanTrueKaiser
      @TheJuanTrueKaiser 6 років тому +6

      Don’t forget about Lupin Part 5. That’s a big omission that pretty much EVERY anime youtuber has been making. It’s downright tragic.

    • @ProtagonistOfficial
      @ProtagonistOfficial 6 років тому

      Josh Leitzel I mean it is the fifth part of a series, so that isn't too surprising.

    • @JoshLeitzel
      @JoshLeitzel 6 років тому +4

      Protagonist Yes, but that means very little since each series is standalone. Lupin tends to be a very episodic and self-contained series. That’s what makes it so much easier to get into than most long running series. All you really need is a single episode to get familiarized with the general premise and characters. Part 5 has its own standalone narrative so anitubers really have no excuse. It’d be like avoiding watching the new gegege just because it’s like the 5th entry into that classic series. Only difference is they don’t label it as a new part, which admittedly probably makes some people hesistsnt and think they actually need to watch every previous series when they don’t. I started with Part 4 for Pete’s sake.

    • @ProtagonistOfficial
      @ProtagonistOfficial 6 років тому

      Josh Leitzel I think you just answered your own question(or I served as an example of what the situation might be for many people). When I hear part 5, I assume I need to watch parts 1-4.

    On a side note, I am glad you are a fan of Cardcaptor Sakura too. I was probably most excited about a new season being released than anything else so far this year. I really feel like they could have plans for a third season because I just don't think these 22 episodes seem complete. And when that happens, I probably won't be able to develop a good mental conscious because my mind would only be all about it. Same thing is happening now and there is only one thing to blame:

    A Place Further than the Universe. I originally gained an interest watching Gigguk's video introducing it. It now holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorites of this year and out of all anime I've watched to date, close to, if not favorite of all.
    It started initially when the show displayed the relationship of Shirase and Mari and their dynamic of Shirase's "nothing will stand in my way of doing what I want to do" with Mari's "I need to do something worthwhile with my life". As the show went on and the main cast grew to eventually involve the 4 main girls, I realized how invested I became in the writing and character development as a whole, as this, out of all anime I've watched to date was the first in memory to make me smile for extended periods of time EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE.
    As if all of that wasn't enough, the straw that broke the camel's back in the best way is the final two episodes. The way the story was laid out by the last minute or so of episode 12 made me cry physical tears which is typically unlike me, as I've never been one to express emotion based on a cue to do so. This mixed with the amazing feeling the rest of the show gave me as a whole cemented this series in my brain as "The Show that Awoke my Emotion", as I went on to watch, enjoy and equally cry at Made in Abyss.
    A Place Further Than the Universe hits home much more than I initially realized, most notably on the "Do something with your life, let nothing stand in your way" vibe, that I've begun to adopt its core philosophy, first letting nothing stand in my way of saving and attending TwitchCon this year, and later following that moving to a completely new state, away from most everyone I know IRL, including family to begin a "new season" of life as I begin to get these new feelings of being a "free spirit".
    Deepest condolences if this show slipped under the radar, Arkada. I hope to potentially see a review of it and *your* personal thoughts, should you choose to give it a watch. I cannot recommend it enough.

The first few episodes make it very hard to get into, but once you get passed that barrier, you will be in for a ride. And Steins;Gate 0 is one of the best sequels I have ever seen from an anime, it absolutely fantastic!

    Golden Kamuy, high school DxD Hero, Megalo Box, a actual good SAO, Hinamatsuri, persona 5, Boku no Hero, Ending of Darling Fraxxx, Grancrest War, SHOKUGEKI, two amazing rom-com in Watakoi and Tada-kun and so much more. God Spring was fantastic.

    What is this Hinamatsuri show I've been hearing about? Is it as good as the original *Hitomimatsuri* ?
    Also, man, it sucks the lack of even a wave or mention to one of the longest most prestigious shows that has been running for decades being left out in the cold. *Lupin the 3rd part V* is just a phenomenal iteration in the Lupin series with great animation, beautiful cinematography and the classic Lupin humor.

      THANK YOU! It’s an excellent entry into the series and practically NO ONE is talking about it. I’ve seen zero anime youtubers even bear a passing mention to it. The western fandom always sleeps on Lupin and I’ll never know why. It’s not like you need to have much prior exposure to the series, or even any at all. If people really want a crash course all they have to do is watch the excellent Miyazaki directed film Castle of Cagliostro.

I've been sticking mostly with romance centric anime this season (and I guess I'm living under a rock because I had no idea that megalo box is as popular as it is, I hadn't even heard of it before you mentioned it...). A show I recommend from this season that I haven't seen people mention yet is Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori! It's a really nice slice of life anime that revolves around a Japanese tea shop and the guys running it. Very calming and just pleasant to watch

    I don't see why you wouldn't watch it illegally if you can't do it legally, even pirate site hating people like Mother's Basement justify watching anime illegally if there's no legal alternative (referring to old anime and countries were the legal methods are inadequate, but I think this should also apply). Since the company doesn't care about it's non-Japanease audience enought to make the series available to us then why should we care about the company?

    Actually Summer doesn't look too bad I can already see some guarantee heavy hitters (assuming they didn't fuck up by changing the art too much or the pacing).
    Overlord III - no explanation needed.
    FLCL Alternative - Same as above.
    Grand Blue - The guy who wrote Baka to Test wrote the scrip for the manga, rare manga that can make me laugh out loud in public.
    Hanebado! - Solid no super power badminton manga by the guy who did Pajama na Kanojo (I really loved Pajama na Kanojo but it got over shadowed by Nisekoi which released at the same time, sadly was eventually cut after 3 vol).
    Satsuriku no Tenshi - Why it is a bad idea to be in parking lots at night, cuz each floor is guarded by a psycho but if you reach the end you might find a amnesiac suicidal loli.
    Angolmois: Genkou Kassenki - Interesting piece of history that is going to be bastardize to make samurais look good. the conclusion historically is a bit anti climatic but mysterious. only reason i know this is cuz i took marine archaeology for extra credits. (seriously though you can check out the archaeological finding later it is interesting).
    Others
    High Score Girl - nostalgia gamer pandering.
    Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger - I wish they would just animate Ginwolf BloodBone, but here is Van Helsing in Japan.
    Muhyo to Rouji no Mahoritsu Soudan Jimusou - I think I have heard recommendations for this but never got around to read it looks really dope though.
    Chuukan Kanriroku Tonegawa - Kaiji spin-off nuff said.
    Iya na Kao sare nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai - For you Masochist motherfucker out there, and DON'T WATCH THIS WITH SOMEONE ELSE THEY WILL MOST LIKELY REFUSE ACKNOWLEDGE THEY KNOW YOU IN PUBLIC EVER AGAIN.

    Of course, yet another seasonal round-up video from an anime youtuber that doesn’t include Lupin Part 5. 😔 Y’all are missing out on one of the best shows airing this season. Will never understand why western fans sleep on this series all the time, it’s downright criminal.

    • @MayoKaraage
      @MayoKaraage 6 років тому

      Josh Leitzel probably because it’s the fifth season and if people haven’t grown up with Lupin they aren’t gonna be picking it up

    • @JoshLeitzel
      @JoshLeitzel 6 років тому +2

      Dio Brando I’ve already explained this in another thread but basically Lupin is like the easiest long-running series to get into. All of the series are standalone. It’s similar to the new Gegege series. While Lupin doesn’t really “reboot” itself with each series, there’s some winks and nods to fans who’ve seen previous shows and movies, the franchise in general is mostly episodic or at least the serialized stories are confined to individual series. In that sense it’s very comparable to Scooby-Doo. That franchise has been going strong since the late 60’s but no one has this notion that you need to actually watch all of it. The characters’ personalities and basic set-up are so simple to understand and appealing no mater where you start, hence their enduring popularity no matter what generation. Just add a lot more James Bond vibes for Lupin.
      I didn’t grow up with the series. Its over twice as old as me, lol. I literally only first watched it last year, and that was with part 4. Then I ended up watching a bunch of other stuff because I dug it so much but it’s totally up to people if they want to dig deeper than the newer stuff.

    • @JoshLeitzel
      @JoshLeitzel 6 років тому +1

      It’s not really the “fifth season” so much as it’s just the fifth main iteration of the series/characters whathaveyou.
      It’s a real shame that so many people seem to be under that impression though. Seriously, the idea of a series actually following a serialized narrative for over 50 years is totally bonkers! Lupin’s been around so long precisely because it doesn’t bother with that. Before the Fujiko Mine series in 2012 there really wasn’t any serialized elements in the tv shows, outside of a few two-parters here and there.

    • @JoshLeitzel
      @JoshLeitzel 6 років тому +1

      That’s why these anime youtubers should be actually covering the series and reassuring people that you can jump in at any point, including the new Part 5. Would help get rid of those misconceptions.

Also people coming back from the dead etc. with some fairly questionable or non-existent explanations.
      Escanor have brought the hype tho, and I've enjoyed the focus on Ban this season.

    • @Kriss_941
      @Kriss_941 6 років тому +1

      As someone who read Tokyo Ghoul, I'm really enjoying the anime now and I'm not the only one... tbh I think Manga readers are probably the ones most happy about this adaptation, because it's actually quite decent. Yes the animation has been really underwhelming, but in terms of story adaptation it has done pretty good with a few blunders here and there, but for the most part not bad at all.
      I've seen people complain about the animation, and I understand that, but I don't think it's a reason to write the show off completely. imo watching Tokyo Ghoul for action is kinda like watching Hellsing for romance, sure it's there, but it's not at all the main focus or main draw of the show.
      In general I think it's the manga readers who enjoy the new season of Tokyo Ghoul, while anime only people feel really left out, because lets face it... they are being left out...

    Sword art online is always so controversial. In my opinion people just tend to hate kirito and I don't think having kirito in SAO makes SAO bad, the story could definitely be better but the SAO now has the same things as the original SAO. The main character is over powered because "lucky girl" and she can win tournaments even though it's her first and is sort of new to PVP. People complain about kirito being overpowered even though it had a reason, being a beta tester. A bad reason maybe but better reason than being a lucky girl.

    • @JPJgamer
      @JPJgamer 6 років тому +8

      LLENN is just Kirito without harem but gets a pass because "moe," funny thing though it has a lower MAL score than the original SAO, so much for being supposedly better.

    • @sebastiancintron29
      @sebastiancintron29 6 років тому +6

      Sergio Perea LLEN also has a better personality. She also learned to play the game, as stated that she died multiple times to monsters while training.
      She adapted to the game and it makes it more relatable at least to me. Reminds me of me, when I decide to play a game I know nothing about, and learning it's ropes fairly quickly.

    • @13Hyrule
      @13Hyrule 6 років тому +3

      The thing is Llenn has the same beginning of being a solo player as Kirito except instead of putting all her time into speeding up her reaction time, instead her character's maxed out the movement speed stat. That's really all there is to it, we've seen in the GGO arc that people putting all their stats into one area can lead to crazy results and this is just that for a different stat. M being a talented marksman and tactician in game and irl was just what sealed the win.

    • @Chronosmaster002

    I don't know if I'd say it was the best season ever, though. I found a distinct lack of one-tier-down anime - other than Wotakoi - so where last season I was regularly anticipating many different shows this time it's just those two and a bunch of guilty pleasures.

    Megalo box is extremely overrated. I just don't the get why people are so into it. The story is just complete trash. There is nothing compelling about it. Almost each episode was a let down in it's own way. The fights barely had any depth to them. There was no sort of progress being made in his skills. He takes a bunch of punches and then one hit to his opponent and he wins. From the beginning he talks about "real megalo boxing" and somehow they carry this plot point to the end fight. It's just regular boxing by the end, nothing 'megalo' about it. Not to mention the O LY reason he won was because Yuri didn't have enough energy to keep fighting after the surgery. The guy couldn't even sit down from round fucking 1! Stop praising that anime as if it's something new and ground breaking. The concept was good but the story was trash. He is able to keep taking punches till the other person gets tired. That's his whole fucking strategy. The best part of this anime was the guy who went to war and was betrayed by his coach. The rest was absolutely trash.

      John Doe The anime is not trash, it is decent. But I have to agree, it is overrated. I completely agree about the fight strategy. It was really predictable and kinda boring. But still it was decent. Not complete trash

    Hugtto Precure would be another good addition to the carryover from winter. For a show aimed at a younger audience its surprising good.
